This was literally the PERFECT song for the Scott and Ramona first 'date' scene! What an amazing tune this is - I just get lost in it. Love Sade's version too. Love Scott Pilgrim!!
i love this song so much as not only is it beautiful but its from scott pilgram vs the world, one of my fave films, which i watched with my boyfriend when we got together, epic! :D
You think I'd leave your side, baby You know me better than that You think I'd leave you down When you're down on your knees, I wouldn't do that I'll tell you you're right when you want And if only you could see into me Oh, when you're cold, I'll be there Hold you tight to me When you're on the outside, baby, and you can't get in I will show you, you're so much better than you know When you're lost and you're alone and you can't get back again I will find you, darling, and I will bring you home And if you want to cry I am here to dry your eyes And in no time, you'll be fine You think I'd leave your side, baby You know me better than that You think id leave you down When you're down on your knees, I wouldn't do that I'll tell you you're right when you want And if only you could see into me Oh, when you're cold, I'll be there Hold you tight to me Oh, when you're low I'll be there by your side baby Oh, when you're cold, I'll be there Hold you tight to me Oh, when you're low I'll be there by your side, baby
i love sade, but i am picking this version over her’s, anyday. i always felt the lyrics and theme of the song never fit into her’s but, the vocals in this version, plus the flowing and warm feeling i get from this song is something i can’t feel in sade’s.
Came here because I found out Autumn de Wilde (director of Emma from 2020) is the bride in this video and her husband has worked as a drummer for the band. She also knew Elliott Smith - And this song was on one of my favorite films soundtrack. My little indie loving heart is overwhelmed how things I love just came full circle XD
I had a friend named Lauren, I wanted her to her this because I wanted her to know I’d always be there for her. But then CoViD happened and my dad died and I drank a lot, so she stopped hanging out with me. Now I am not drinking so much and she is gone. Some people don’t deserve what is in this song.
I just heard this song today. I loved hearing Once by the Tyde but never pursued BS. My loss and gain. I never minded missing stuff because I can always reverse search. With cd’s and now the net. I’ve always said “late to the party” still went to the correct party. = )
I’ve had a crush on the same guy since sophomore year of high school, but I never said anything because I thought he was straight. We were in the same friend group but never really close. I was head over heels though. We went to different colleges and fell out of touch, as expected. I didn’t think I’d ever see him again, but I thought about him a lot. I regretted never telling him how I felt or, at the very least, getting closer to him as friends. I dated a girl from my college for a little while, but I never felt the same way about anyone else as I had for that guy. Fast forward to now. I am 21 years old. A while back, he and I got back in touch and became roommates. Last night, I told him how I feel, and how long I’ve felt this way. He said that he felt the same way about me. We talked about it for a while. Scott Pilgrim was in the tv while we talked. At some point during the conversation, he kissed me. Today, he picked me up from work. When I got in the car, he was playing this song. (I should mention that he has an older car, so he downloads music he likes onto a flash drive that he plugs into the cars USB port to play it). He told me that he downloaded it because we kissed during the Scott and Ramona scene with this song, which I didn’t notice last night but wish I had. He said it’s been stuck in his head all day. I can’t make this shit up. It’s the most cliché bullshit to have ever been, but I’m so happy.
I honestly don't know why people argue. Both versions are different but beautiful in their own way.I love them both but there's just something about this version....
@RukiKatiakicz it does happen btw....it also feels as though nothing else even exists anymore. its the one of the best feelings i think. i love this song so much and Scott Pilgrim was amazing.
I think you have to hear Sade's version first. I love this version but hearing her sing it for the first time when I was about 12 really warmed my heart. I love this for the instrumentation but he doesn't really stray too far from the original harmony and that's what initially drew me to the song. Maybe im biased towards her version but it's one of those songs that is just part of me.
I think this version is good. It's easier to understand cause science proves that young minds cannot comprehend the complexity of Sade's version, especially since the topic of feelings and love are not fully developed with young adults till 24 (30 in the US) This version is easy for simple, less mature minds. But great song!
@uberfunction I've got no problem with you voicing your opinions, regardless of whether you like them or not. The fact of the matter is that you write as though you're above other people (also opinions, I know). Whether or not there is truth behind that is not important because it's rude and egotistical. Cliffs Notes: Presumptuous generalizations expose the fact that you're rude and have a big ego. On a side note, thank you, subpoprecords for the upload.
This version is for when i'm in chill mode. But the original let's you know how she feels. The words have more of an impact. I highly recommend listening to the Neptunes remix of the Sade version. It's Fresh!
I find it amusing how theres so much debate on the better version. They both kick tail. Of course Sade can sing. These guys are just doing their thing and make me wanna get real mellow. Both versions win in my book. Stop slinging hate brothers.
@getnervousedy its just another person's interpretation of the song. grew up with Sade's version, but this has a more personal singing to someone late at night kinda feel to it. i like it.
this is beautiful.. . i like every version of this song. hot damn, i even like it when i sing this song myself (even though i sound like a dog barking when i sing).
@ShinyToyGunsClan Exactly, its just a difference in tastes. This is more for fans on folk/indie.....sure Sade has the technically better voice, that's pretty obvious but it doesn't mean this guys voice doesn't have character as well. I love both equally.
I got my girlfriend to listen to this song...she loved it :) We've been together for almost a year now - the longest and best relationship I've had up to this point.
@realfreakaynaughtay I know right! It's completely mind-blowing. I'm still waiting till we find the mathematical equation of "love." Years ago, a group called 2gether came up with U + Me = Us but many scholars argued that the U variable cannot be constant but rather "Me." Pythagoras couldn't even come up with something like that.
I love this song. I have heard Sade's version, and it beautiful, but this version made me very emotional. Just something about the way it was done, and the hermony and the harmonica... Its just as beautiful as Sade's. Just calm and beautiful. ^_^ Plus,... I love Scott Pilgrim VS The World. LOL
This was literally the PERFECT song for the Scott and Ramona first 'date' scene! What an amazing tune this is - I just get lost in it. Love Sade's version too. Love Scott Pilgrim!!
ikr
What a gorgeous melody, sounds like what milkshake tastes like
Holy shit I'm gonna start using that to describe music more
Lovely
"I can.....not, have tea."
“What *about* our tea?”
*kiss*
This is one of those songs that when I listen to it it reminds of a happier time in my life
sade’s original version is so beautiful to begin with, then this one puts an early 70’s twist on it, making it somehow even better. i love it.
i love this song so much as not only is it beautiful but its from scott pilgram vs the world, one of my fave films, which i watched with my boyfriend when we got together, epic! :D
It can't get much better than this! Real music!
i love Sade's version but i love how this song has a nostalgic dreamy air to it
this pulls on the ole heart strings..
Beautiful song. It reminded me of Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade of Pale".
You think I'd leave your side, baby
You know me better than that
You think I'd leave you down
When you're down on your knees, I wouldn't do that
I'll tell you you're right when you want
And if only you could see into me
Oh, when you're cold, I'll be there
Hold you tight to me
When you're on the outside, baby, and you can't get in
I will show you, you're so much better than you know
When you're lost and you're alone and you can't get back again
I will find you, darling, and I will bring you home
And if you want to cry
I am here to dry your eyes
And in no time, you'll be fine
You think I'd leave your side, baby
You know me better than that
You think id leave you down
When you're down on your knees, I wouldn't do that
I'll tell you you're right when you want
And if only you could see into me
Oh, when you're cold, I'll be there
Hold you tight to me
Oh, when you're low
I'll be there by your side baby
Oh, when you're cold, I'll be there
Hold you tight to me
Oh, when you're low
I'll be there by your side, baby

I'm so glad this made the soundtrack for Scott Pilgrim. That soundtrack game me some of my favorite songs

I want this to be my wedding song:)
I saw Scott Pilgrim and immediately came looking for this song. Sade is awesome and this cover is incredible.
This was my first dance song at my wedding. The first time I heard it, I knew I was going to marry him. Sounds kinda cheesy, but....it's true.
How's your marriage going now? :0
I had a friend named Lauren, I wanted her to her this because I wanted her to know I’d always be there for her. guess I get hipster points for discovering this song in 2002, before it was popular, and 8 years before Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World.
I just heard this song today. I loved hearing Once by the Tyde but never pursued BS. My loss and gain. I never minded missing stuff because I can always reverse search. With cd’s and now the net. I’ve always said “late to the party” still went to the correct party. = )
this song gets me in such a sappy mood. seriously missing my girlfriend right now :'(

i listened to this song walking to class in the rain
this morning and OMG was it relaxing :)
most beautiful song ever
i love both versions... and this version is just put the original into another level...
The woman in the video is photographer Autumn De Wilde and former Beachwood Sparks drummer. Their daughter is the lead singer in the band Starcrawler.
Brent you guys just did it with this one.
Salut,il y’a 10 ans ,j’ai travaillé dans un cinéma au Japon ,j’entendais cette version 25 fois par jour ….
Aujourd’hui ça me manque
scott pilgrim was just not a total waste of time because it gave me this!!
man, this song is DOPE!!!

best cover ever
Aaron Sperske played with these guys, he's the father of Arrow de Wilde, "Starcrawler". Check 'em out!
Present tense. He still plays with them. :)
A testament to how good Sade's song is for these alt country musicians to copy it and make it slightly more groovy.
"You think I'd leave your side baby?
You know me better than that."
it’s scary how this was 10 years ago
oh man beautiful song😭
beautiful lyrics................
hermosa canción
Creí que sería el único comentario en español jaja

Really good cover of Sade
@gofrorecords Yes. I love this version. Its calm and beautiful.
great great cover!

this is a very good cover you guys!

captures the melancholy of the song better than the original
This version is for when i'm in chill mode. But the original let's you know how she feels. The words have more of an impact. I highly recommend listening to the Neptunes remix of the Sade version. It's Fresh!
Ramona Flowers! 3
@romeosodotcom me too. LOVE that movie and the music.
Lovely song.
@romeosodotcom
check out their debut album!
I've never heard Sade's original version. I don't want to... I will at some point, but for me this is as beautiful and romantic as I could hope for.
thx to Scott pilgrim...i have discover this beautiful song
this is the song in my favorite scene from Scott Pilgrim
I find it amusing how theres so much debate on the better version. They both kick tail. Of course Sade can sing. These guys are just doing their thing and make me wanna get real mellow. Both versions win in my book. Stop slinging hate brothers.
A game changer
@getnervousedy its just another person's interpretation of the song. grew up with Sade's version, but this has a more personal singing to someone late at night kinda feel to it. i like it.
Excellent.!!!!!!!!!! เนื้อหาดี ฟังเอาเอง
@enjoyingincubusXD @KeezIfUP133z The song is in B major. So use your B harmonica
this is beautiful.. . i like every version of this song. hot damn, i even like it when i sing this song myself (even though i sound like a dog barking when i sing).

@berts1405 i agree, this song has more authenticity for sure.
Thank you, man. It means a lot.
It's alright :)

@ShinyToyGunsClan
Exactly, its just a difference in tastes. This is more for fans on folk/indie.....sure Sade has the technically better voice, that's pretty obvious but it doesn't mean this guys voice doesn't have character as well. I love both equally.
i think this is great!
This version is very good

@realfreakaynaughtay I know right! It's completely mind-blowing. I'm still waiting till we find the mathematical equation of "love." Plus,... I love Scott Pilgrim VS The World. LOL
Not being disrespect to sade. But in my opinion, I prefer this version better.
I fully agree.
As a Sade fan, this is a perfect rendition.
not feelin this version
I fucking knew this song was from something!!! Turns out it's from one of my favourite movies Scott pilgrim!! Thank god for the comments!
Cool!
Love
@ADayWithAndrew It's less focused on vocal delivery (which I understand is much of the draw for Sade) and more on the overall composition.
