Never stop with the Mushroom Jazz series please.
gotta say I've been listening to everything Mark Farina does for almost two decades and this one is special. how does dude have ALL the records. my god. masterclass in DJing, full stop. doesn't matter what style you listen to or play yourself, there is no wrong time, place, party or group of people for this music right here.
Haha yeah the records you see are like one 16th his collection!! Cheers man you're correct the mush jazz never gets old!!
I just found found purchases from 2004 that were his earlier releases, have so many. Even, San Francisco Sessions. this is great! 18 years of listening, here, too.
Master of djing? No. Misses the mix at the first track (initial mix is slightly off-beat).
Great track selection, but he's not a master. You want a master, look at DJs like DJ Shadow who don't miss a single beat for hours on end.
@@kaibe5241 Yeah you can see he's more comfortable mixing house really... but he's a great house DJ for sure. Shadow is on another league though, a master from the DJ and digging culture.
@@kaibe5241 sounding a bit cheeky. He actually IS a master. Know your history. Believe it or not even a “master DJ” can have a slightly off mix once in a while.. this homie is a legend in the game man, ease up! Name dropping The Shadow as reference sounds toy by the way. Oh he’s not a master because he’s not as good as the best hip-hop DJ/producer who ever lived pretty much, ok.
Played mushroom jazz vol 1 while shroomin' on a mountain hike and suddenly it all made perfect sense. Thank you Maestro Mark!
They are ALL gorgeous and perfect for tripping.. This guy has been inspiring me since I was a kid. Much love out there. Eat your mushrooms!
Farina
what a master at work, Mark Farina and I'm glad to have lived in the timeline..
first saw mark farina at EDC (Los Angeles) 2009? 2010? played at cosmic meadows stage... after or before Dennis ferrer/ TMB. what a year... little did i know, my whole music perspective would change after that
Same brother! Ever since I've listened to mark farina mushroom, I've never stopped listening. Been 11 years for me now ❤ I can work, study, clean, chill, drive to all of this 😊
An ex boyfriend played Mushroom Jazz for me 15 years ago and its been my background for so many things ever since - dinner parties, work, studying, cleaning the house, making out.... always spot on!! ❤from Austin!!
We love good music in Austin! Groove on!
@@kxan_news we also love Sally Hernandez, who interviewed my daughter at her preschool - 19 years ago!
Mark Farina's been one of my favorite DJs for years, he's definitely one of my main inspirations in my own DJ mixes. Mushroom Jazz vols. 6 and 7 are forever my jams; I still have Mushroom Jazz vol 7 on cd. Glad to see he's still at it!
heck ye agreed !!
I bought this dude's cd like 20 years ago solely because it was called Mushroom Jazz. I used to snowboard to it, back when skip resistant cd players were a thing.
Damn dude. I really needed this. Been thinking hard about life and trying to carve my place in it. Mushroom Jazz takes me back to when I was younger and had more dreams. There is no such thing as coincidence
That's word brotha! Keep the chin up... there's lots of good folks and good things happening. Classic pure good music like Farina is good for the soul.. bump it!
keep dreamin' buddy. you're older but wiser!
Coincidentally there IS coincidence
I jammed to this mofo back in the day....good times!
you can always find your groove again. just travel to your fav spots and do the things you did that made you happy b4. I've been in holes and now find my peace in canaries. Hope you find that goove.
Got lost. Damn man...new skating mix for sure
this is literally the best music for mushrooms. You can see the music.. and the voices...
He is a very special DJ.. unique.. I can’t remember anyone having a similar style … I usually listen more to deep and soulful house, but Farina‘s sets are some of my most favourite ones
If you like this check out DJ Krush's older work probably will resonate with ya
I'm a real deep and soulfull lover as well, but Farina brings me back in the real hip hop years so far, even if i wasn't born ahah
man i've been on some journeys in my head with MJ as the soundtrack, particulary MJ5, one of the best albums i've got 👌🏼
I love your rapport and silent candor with the camera, with the future audience that isn't there. You make it look like you're having fun! Lots of DJs look all serious when they get in the zone, or they need a crowd to feed energy off of and feel too silly gettin' jiggy all by themselves. Mark's just too cool, man...
In all my years, I didn’t realize how gifted this man is. My apologies for sleeping on you for 29 years!
I've always loved the "smartness" of Mark Farina. His sets have always been done with such a good-taste... The spoken-words throughout his sets were his very own and unique signature that I will never forget. Even his home looks like his sets : soft, safe, comforting.
I like that alliteration on his sets, and agree he has a flavor and flow that is so approachable.
Everytime he comes to my city we hangout. I'm 44 been a fan since I was 15. He's definitely the homie!
wow, where have I been??!!!! Stumbled on this after listening to Nightmares on Wax.... Thank you You Tube. WOWWOWWOW!!!!! BEAUTIFUL
House or old hip-hop, Mark's my go-to groove professor. Thank you brother!
I will be playing this on loop for probably a month. Okay ... two months.
The Mushroom Jazz CD series was groundbreaking for its time. Great selection of music that just couldn’t be found anywhere else.
Now this is a proper mix - sweet grooves and no ads. Delicious.
This man made my teenage years the best experience ever, especially on mushrooms!! ✌🧡👍
i love your cat
The best comment here 🙈😂
With chips!!!
Love the cat too
Meeeew
Cat fans in the HOUSE!!! Pun intended. 😂🤣😂
Such deep musical recognition ✌️
The cat literally rolling
He is literally just vibin so hard rn lololz
It's amazing that he is still performing art and keeping it real. His blending, his ear to selective tracks is what the underground is about and he has never left it, he is an innovator. I have been listening to mushroom jazz compilations when they started with tapes. This is what Dj is all about especially the Chicago born ones!
Mark has been an inperation since the late 90s. I'll never stop listening to this dude.
Man, it's been years since I've been able to see Mark Farina do the damn thing. This is great.
A little electro-jazz never hurt nobody! THIS is very cool and intoxicating! Fresh, magnanimous, snowballable bouncy!
Mark Farina is what I always listen to when I need to work on something long term like a work assignment or even just to get in a creative drawing mood. I've been listening to him for almost 20 years and I'll never stop! I always see lofi/chillwave/etc. whatever with anime thumbnails recommended to me and I'm always like "nah, I'm gonna go find me a mushroom jazz mix" lol
I've been a fan all the way since vol.1 when this showed up on my sidebar, I got goosebumps. What an incredible set. I've been lucky enough to see Mark spin live on multiple occasions. I love this.
That cat is very cool ! 😁🐈🐈🐈
Farina does it every time. I’ve seen him live and he bends all into it. He’s such a great vibe!
That 12:09 shift. Master of the art. ❤
Mark really hit a home run with this ongoing project.
Picked up my first Mushroom Jazz 1 (circa 1996 - 97) on good old CD.
Borders Books was bringing in some really unique and abstract genres at the time, and they had the “listen before you buy” option, which was huge when seeking out the unknown.
MJ #1 was a real game changer within the Acid Jazz / Downtempo / Trip Hop genres, and they’ve consistently delivered since.
Don’t forget about each and every artist that’s contributed a track or two. They are the independent, unsung heroes who’ve allowed these groovy genres to develop.
Thanks Mark.
Been following and you since the “SEASONS ONE” release.
Never disappointed.
Seasons One is still my favorite mix CD of all time.
another mushroom jazz classic set. the world needs this down to earth vibes. peace for y`all
Does everyone remember where they were when they heard their first mushroom jazz? I sure do! That was an AMAZING night!
Damn, must've been 96 in Newcastle upon Tyne. There was this girl...
@@eatmygonks Ahhh yes!! Sounds like we had a very similar experience my friend!
Walked into a Tower Records one day not wanting anything. Walked out with my first Mushroom Jazz #1. Haven’t looked back since.
@@adrienne_12thorpe that's wild! MJ1 found me .. friend let me borrow the CD. walked into a store looking "for mushroom jazz stuff" and the guy gave me Kruder and Dorfmeister - K&D Sessions vol 1 and 2. christttt....
I was in High School, my buddy had the cassette bumping in his CRX.
My new cruising music. I've been looking for this and didn't even know it. Thank you.
There are decades to listen to
a giant mushroom, made out of mushrooms....
God i love this man
Nothing beats the beat of mushroom jazz
Outstanding ❤
This got me out of a very sad and lonely mood real quick. Perfection. So grateful ❤
This guy calls himself a DJ?!?!? He doesn't even have any records... I"M TOTALLY KIDDING. Brother I've been listening to your stuff for decades your abilities are top-notch and I will always enjoy any and all mix that you throw down. One love & nuthin' but respect.
Will always enjoy your playing brother. I have cassette tapes from you still and a few of your records in my collection! I’m 50 now and
remember dancing to you live in my 20’s!
Mushroom Jazz 25!? I’ll be bumping it at 75! Promise!
Mark - you age well. Both your music and actual body/face. Stay well, I saw/heard you in Santa Monica late 90s. You are one of those DJs that just is uber professional and all loved. Your sounds will live forever & for this I am eternally grateful. Much peace, JM
He’s 52 in this!
This is by far one of my favorite mixes I've heard in a longtime. The flow is just flawless.
Daaammmnn,, I remember bumping Mushroom Jazz Volumes on a portable disc player back in like 2005 on the bus to school, some ultra smooth cuts, I'm happy I found this
MARK IS SICK WITH HIP-HOP, HOUSE, ETC!!!! HE MIXES EVERYTHING JUST RIGHT!!!! THIS IS A FANTASTIC AND CONSISTENT MIX THAT WILL KEEP YOUR HEAD BOBBIN'!!!! THAT TRACK AT 26:09...DAYMN!!!!
This is my first time checking you out and I gotta say you a BAD BOY!!!!!!
I listed to so much music in my life, but I always come back to mr farina.
Use to buy his CASSETE MIX TAPES in the 90s in the bay at XLARGE clothing stores and raves. This is a dope set
OMG the cat and the vibes are so sweet 🤩 thank you for so many recordings that soundtrack my and my family's life
Dude is an absolute legend! A master of his craft! Always appreciate the mushroom jazz series, ever since back in tha day! Thank you Mark! Keep that funk in your soul brotha!
Been listening to Mark Farina since 2000. This one reminds me of when I first heard the Mushroom Jazz series. Big up. Thanks.
Thank you Mark! For decades of the most beautiful grooves positive vibes in the game! From ATL to San Francisco and Santa Rosa, you are the best.

Never heard hip-hop? Yikes!
If we could blast these mixes into Kiev, the hostilities would end.
Instead America will keep pumping billions into Ukraine!
Smoke another one.
Brilliant set .... Avanguardia de House Music ...Chapeau Mark Farina
Realy good, and actually MUSICAL, unlike the billions of boring house music DJ sets that all sound the same.
I think it's safe to say that this is what we're all waiting for and need in life. Each and every time you get us really into vibes, Mark. I even started playing downtempo sets, because of the MJ and DF mixtapes. Thanks dude!
what is DF?
@@lofi_soul_jazz Downtempo Forest?
@@fvo3000 oh cool i neve heard of that!! thanks, i know of the MJ series for sure, but this just appeared on my page today hahah thanks i'l lcheck it out
It's not.
Love Mushroom Jazz...full of memories with a dear friend who used to DJ and let me use his equipment to create my own remixes of songs. Some great times we had~
brings me bag to my days of digging in the crates! I've got the first 5 of these compilations on vinyl, such gems, brings me back. Thanks Mark for being such a positive influence for last few decades!
I love how he tweaks sound clips like "Everybody" from the Cheers TV Show theme song & melds it with "clap your hands". An instrumental from Das Efx is masterfully incorporated into it's own grove. With yet so much more magic to encounter on this musical journey. Keeping blessin heads Yo!
One of my faves. Repeated this mix multiple times and shared with close ones. Lovely stuff !
I was a DJ in Chicago in the 90's and knew Mark in those days. Mad skillz and great taste for groove. He was really nice to me and turned me on to some great tunes. I remember the first Mushroom Jazz record and still a huge fan! I dig it rotten!
This man creates amazing mysic..I've been a huge fan since the mid 90s and his taste and style have only gotten better with age❤ and he is a good guy to boot, those of us who were fortunate enough to have been involved with the underground dance scene of the 90s can all attest the BEST parties were the ones with Mark making the earth shake with the hoardes of dancers whose feet he possessed with them beats
Man! I've been digging you're sets since the 99. I'm glad I re- found you!. Haha.
I listen to Mark since 1996, while sitting on other side on Earth 😘
Hey Mark, lookin good buddy and sounding great. much love from New Orleans. met you a few years back at a NOLA pool party you played. I was in a wheel chair and we had a short conversation about SF days of old and certain crews. You were hella nice to me, much appreciation. you busted out an epic house set that night. That New Orleans heat definitely had us faded out by the end lol.......Mushroom Jazz was a pretty monumental part of my San Francisco experience. When i worked at Virgin Megastore I pushed the MJ albums pretty hard. Long live the old OM crew.
3 tunes in and my head has been nodding the whole time
I went to one mushroom jazz party in Memphis TN, 1996. Much fun and such a great, short lived genre. Nice to see it still being rotated and appreciated. Mark Farina y’all.
Mark Farina's Mushroom Jazz is a huge inspiration for me to start DJing, I love his genius mixing skills!
Outstanding. Music likes this can save lifes! Thank you so very much!
Recently found marks work while tripping nuts one night. Spent the next few days listening to all the Mushroom Jazz volumes. Such an amazing time! Glad to see you still rocking and shredding decks! Such a great mix Mark!
I could only image the quality of music in that record collection ❤️ such an amazing set 🔥🔥🔥
Reminds me of my college days when I first discovered Mushroom Jazz. Thanks for the upload!
Mark, you are the best. More please.
Man this truly is special. Heard every Mushroom Jazz till date but this one is just fire.
Love these selections from the big man!
Always a vibe ❤
Farina never disappoints. What a mix!
Uh, this was Awesome!!! Thank you Mark for sharing. Rock On. The cat is adorable too.
Saw him several months and the dude just throws down monster 3 hour sets. He is a beast !!
This is a great set. I came across it last month and have listened to it at lest once a week. I’ve also have been tackling the rest of the Mushroom Jazz collection. Good beats while working from home.
This is beautiful! 🙌🏻
Love love loving this, need more Mark Farina in my life 💖🙏
Been rockin with mark Farina since all the 90s bay area raves ... AND i love cats!!!

My absolute favorite DJ and the person who inspired me to pick up the craft! About to rock it live this Saturday night with him for the 8th time! Nothing like getting to share the decks with one of your heroes 🔥🙏🏾💯

Damn!!! First song I heard from Mark was Dream Machine like in 2006 or 07, great song! IT was a mixtape with a lot of good music like Thievery Corporation and Nouvelle Vague. Trxas un the house!🤟!Thanks👍✌

Always loved listening to Mark Farina Mix. Didn't know he's in Texas as well. So Cool!
Wasn't aware he was here either. I always thought Chicago. Dude is a legend.
Awesome. Love the Mushroom Jazz series, my pal that introduced me to it is no longer with us RIP. Been all sorts of trippy mess groovin' out to that jazz. Big respect Farina. Keep doing what you do!
I listened to this on a flight to Toronto last night. So good!
Incredibley nice train of grooves woven by a master of the audible arts. Always wanted to see him do a morning set in his natural environment... Thanks for this Mark..
That is an amazing number of records in the background. Love Mark's Mushroom Jazz collections.
DOPE! Taking me back to my South of Market club life days in SF in the late 90s and very early 00s!
A legent man ! I love the DJs who take the risk to mix without lots of digital eases!
