This is NOT Need for Speed Underground 2...

- I've never played this game before, but it's forever been requested that I check it out. This is Street Racing Syndicate, a game clearly belonging to the 2000s. But it did the open world street racing game idea before Need for Speed Underground 2!

Honestly I'm surprised you haven't played this, I grew up with this. Underground 2 and SRS were my trophy racing games growing up and still to this day wouldn't change the experiences I got from them with any other racing game today. Those memories mean more to me than what today has to offer lol.
SSAAAMMMEEEEE!!!! Played this and NFS1&2 throughout my High School years!!!
Everything about this game was really good the car list the customization even the gameplay was really solid the girlfriend feature was a little weird though lmao
@@Blaze1990sp To a degree I agree with you on the girlfriend system but I liked the idea it generally gave me something else to do as I'm playing. The idea behind her being in my passenger side while running from the cops or having her start my races was a feature I liked.
used to play arcade games before the main story so that i can get the trueno for free
It was legit one of my favourite street racing games back in the day and I still play it occasionally. The same studio later went on to make the Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift game.
I love that you're playing this.
Some pointers:
1. Respect points are VERY important or else you cant enter the last crew meet. To do this, you need to:
*Max out your respect points in every sprint & circuit race by drifting, jumps, shortcuts, gaining positions (you can game this by letting the other drivers leave first at the start), clean laps, narrowly missing traffic, drafting. If you can chain all these together the point compound quickly.
* In drags its harder to achieve. Letting the guy go, then draft him continuously and use nos to pass before the end. Or just spin the out at the start and perform tricks on your way to the finish line.
* Girlfriends contribute to the respect points so get as many as you can [There are 18 girlfriends in the entire game and each contributes at least 500 points].
Also, when you win a girls respect challenge they will show up at your warehouse. When you choose a girl to be your girlfriend she shows up as the flag girl in races. If you win a series race she will tell you she has a gift for you at your place [The warehouse]. This 'gift' is a new video of her dancing but with less clothes than before. 17/18 girls have 2 extra videos you can unlock. The videos are non-nude but do involve either lingerie or bikinis, lol. The 2000's was a different time. None of this contributes to respect points but is an interesting part of the game.
2. There is no tuning individual parts like NFSU2 but each part and part combination drastically changes how the car handles and performs particularly the suspension and tires. Different tire and suspension combos suit different cars.
3. Maxing out the cars performance will not necessarily make them faster around the track. Particularly the rear wheel drive cars. There's no traction control in this game so slapping a peaky, huge turbo on them means you light up the tires very easily which makes driving out of corners a nightmare. The supra and RX7 actually benefit from having smaller turbos with predictable power delivery.
4. Drive clean. Body kits are extremely expensive to repair.
5. Some cars playable for career can't be unlocked in the career. Wut? The following can only be unlocked in the main menu arcade mode but will show up free in your career garage. Nice!
*The AE86 Corolla can be unlocked by finishing first in the Miami Iron Man challenge.
* The RX7 Bathurst can be unlocked by finishing first in the LA Iron Man Challenge.
*The RX8 Mazdaspeed can be unlocked by finished first in the Philadelphia Iron man challenge.
*The Evo 7 GSR can be unlocked by finishing first in the LA Checkpoint race.
yes this is it right here give this man a like ☝☝☝☝
don't forget that one can beat arcade mode races and unlock these free cars BEFORE you even start the career, which is just crazy level exploit
Bruh i don't even know that smaller turbo... i just picked which one delivered biggest power to the car LOL
@@winston737 it works for most AWD the evo and skyline, wrx and sti. But the S202 inherits chronic understeer and snap oversteer at max power levels which is really annoying.
One thing you forgot to mention is 100% of the time is to avoid the cops. never engage with them. They are a loosing battle
SRS and Juiced were the games that were in the shadow of UG/UG2 but they were all riding the success of FnF/2F2F
Fun fact the same sound design team from fast and furious helped out with NFSU and nfsu2 that’s why in the cutscenes a lot of the cars sounds are very similar the first 2 fnf movies
One of my childhood memories.
The days of NFSU1, NFSU2, SRS, Juiced 1, Juiced 2 HIN, and FnF Tokyo Drift Game was one hell of a magnificent era in racing game history
Add also many other SNES Racing games.
Ah yes I loved Juiced as well 👏🏽
The reason why the supra decided to start behind is because of that 2jz is op. Also wished racing games would do something like that to taunt the other drivers
I absolutely loved SRS. I feel like there was some serious potential with that game
Those girls definitely had potential! 🤣😂💀
@@RCCrawlerz209 Yep indeed, most of them because porn stars. Like tila tequila, was also in this game. And most asian girls in this game also. 😂
@@RCCrawlerz209 yes. Far more potential than even GT7.
@@purwantiallan5089 no doubt!
@@RCCrawlerz209 I’m surprised no one is talking about the nude pictures this game had when you impress the girls challenges
Only racing game to have nudes…
That thumbnail is so funny actually 😂👍
This should be a series with old racing games!!!!😳
OMG I WANTED YOU TO PLAY THIS! I was literally wondering if you were gonna play this or not. Keep up the good work Theo ❤️
Edit: The handling is just like that Ford racing game. This game had different car models too.
I believe it's because Ford Mustang The Legend Lives and Street Racing Syndicate were both developed by the same studio, Eutechnyx, who also did the pretty good Fast & The Furious Tokyo Drift game, and that god awful biker game Ride to Hell Retribution
@@ChaseMC215 not even close for that.
I’m surprised no one is talking about the nude pictures this game had when you impress the girls challenges
Only racing game to have nudes😅😅
@@connoisseuroftigolbitts not realy nudes, at best they are in small underwear or bikinis
SRS had its flaws, but dude... It was a really fun experience. Glad theo is checking this out
The game had more girls than cars. 😂
The car list is bad!
Multiple versions of the same car models + no Hondas!
@@Kev27RS And the worst part of that is that all the different models play exactly the same. The cheapest GTR will drive exactly the same and the most expensive. They did a terrible job of programing.
@@Speculativedude Unfortunately.
God, the intros to the NFS games back in the 2000nds brings back so many memories, I was born in 2002 so but I had my family to thank for getting me into NFS
Same, i was born in 04
A shame that you didn’t grow up when the games came out!
@@Kev27RS yea but at least I got to experience them at some point during my childhood, there are so many games that came out during the 2000nds that I've been able to try later on in life like the SMT series, Sonic Heroes, Rock Band, Halo and many games like it along with Need For Speed
@@wolfiethefurrygamer1908 That’s good!
The Customization in SRS was crazyyyyyyy. As an avid import tuner fan growing up knowing about all those authentic JDM kits and cars this game was the pinnacle (in terms of customization) This game had the import geeks freaking out.
OMG i have installed this game on my pc just yesterday after like 10 years and the nostalgia hits hard. amazing coincidence youve just made a video on this! hope you will continue playing SRS
You should make this a playtrough, its so nostalgic and also fun to see ur reactions to it. I cant belive u havent tried this before
When you want to bet with someone, you have to press the Spc button for them to accept. In each match, you must try to reach 250 points because you must have collected enough points to open the next matches. To escape from the police, you either have to go far enough to reach the green bar or you can hide. The only places where you can hide is the corner of the car dealership parking lot and another place near the dealership. You don't even need to stay away from them. As soon as you hide, they will lose you 😂
This was one of my FAVORITES back in the day! Loved the song "Microphone Check." Always gets you hyped.
BRO I so badly wanted you to play this!
Thank goodness you found it haha. It was one of fav childhood game
YOOO Ive been wait for you to play this!! Idc what anyone says this game is fun. I'm so glad to see you play older titles
Please continue this as a new let's play series! Haven't had one of those in ages!
I rarely comments a video, but i'm been following you since your debut, and i would have never imagine to appear in one of your video, i wanted to thanks you a lot to have featured me on it !
You should definetly take a look about "Tokyo Xtreme racer/Kaido battle" series on PS2/dreamcast made by GENKI, those are forgotten gems that deserve more recognisation !.
The one thing this game did in detail was for example the Skyline R34 has a few different versions, and years of it in SRS. M-Spec Nur, and V-Spec II Nur are two of them. Reminded me of the F&F Tokyo Drift game for the PS2 which also did the same kind of thing. It made the smaller car list feel less small imo.
And appearently, base one can do 1007hp while all others are capped at 960
@@j01sonofsleazy Yeah, that didnt make much sense to me when they did that lol
The game had more girls than cars.
The car list is bad!
Multiple versions of the same car models + no Hondas!
@@Kev27RS Techincally there were like 50 in total, but all of them being submodels.
Before SRS, Street Legal did the same thing, except the cars were fictional and the models were much limited.
@@j01sonofsleazy Yeah it’s not enough variety!
All the same cars.
Quality over quantity!
Juiced and SRS were two of my favorites aside from the NFS series, but they don't get the spotlight very often if ever. Regardless, they were amazing games and I spent hours and hours playing them. I am glad you finally decided to experience SRS.
midnight club 3 dub too :3
i remember playing this game as a child very vaguely. i thought it was nfs always because all i remembered from it was driving a blue R34 through the city and it was the best time of my life. wild to think you've never played it
Tazio, sad to say that GRAN TURISMO 7 isnt even close to SRS.
This was a fun video to watch 😂 Any chance you could do one on Import tuner challenge of course if you haven't not played.
*SRS!!* I *love* this game! I still have it on my computer and go back and play from time to time.
I’m also surprised that no other game has adopted the homing rear view camera to date. It’s such a great feature!
Can't wait till you explore the strange girl friend part further. It only gets weirder from here Theo
The game had more girls than cars. 😂
The car list is bad!
Multiple versions of the same car models + no Hondas!
I think Glasses Pants needs to be called: Theodore B. Panther.
This game I completely forgot it existed! I was addicted to this game! Played it for hours on end... until it kept crashing, thank you so so much for reminding me of this game! Amazing memories 💜
SRS is the one that gave me a lesson to keep my car clean throughout every race, because repair car is kinda expensive especially when you have custom body kit
Rolling through the entire game with a completely damaged vehicle only to repair it feels like Rock Lee taking off his ankle weights
Its cool to see Theo play this game, i grew up with this and NFS. I never could beat street mode because earning respect was hard for me back then. Now that this game is on steam, i just used the cheat engine to get full marks on all races.
7:39 "Why does no other game do that that's amazing!"
Hot Pursuit 2 : am I a joke to you?
God, this bring me so many memories. I remember picking up this game at the market and discovered it was good. Legit wanna play this again now 👍
I never imagined you would play SRS. i would love to see you continue this series.
SRS even though only had 65 cars, far fewer than in GT7 still miles above that.
@@purwantiallan5089 yup... Sometimes having a little bit of story makes the difference. Even though the story is cringe but still a story is story
SRS was amazing, a fully upgraded Scooby can go from 0-60 in about 2.3 seconds but it honestly felt faster than that and the police element was sorely missed from NFSU1&2. NFSU2 had the tuning where you could work on your gearbox and other tuning options for each race but SRS was still good and the betting options were a neat feature
This game was honestly amazing for its time but I don't remember ever finishing it.
The audio tends to cut out on the pc version when opponents cars are within your audible noise range for some reason. I think the games engine doesn't know how to play two engine sounds at the same time
I also never finished it because you need some crazy amount of respect points to enter the last Crew Challenges. Almost impossible to get.
@BlackPanthaa: There is corner near Car shop, just hide there if you're near toy hat spot while cop chase, cops will never be able to bust you, it's a secret spot !
FINALLY PANTS HAS COVERED SRS. I grew up with this game and it has a special place in my heart! Also, by hook up, she means there are "special videos" in the safehouse lolll. Namco wildin'
The game had more girls than cars.
The car list is disappointing!
Multiple versions of the same car models + no Hondas!
I MISS THAT GAME!!!!!! I miss this era of Street Racing Games. Back in High School SRS and NFS1&2 were my go to games!!!!
Need for speed underground was one of my childhood games. Love the glasses Theo😂
I remember getting this used at GameStop for my game cube. It was a pretty good game. It’s just a Console Version, especially for the GameCube the textures were so compressed so I’m glad you’re playing the PC version
I can very vaguely recall this game. I don't know if I played it at a friend's house or rented it maybe at one point.
Hilarious! I'd watch you do a play through on this. Reminds me of when i was young, lol
It's been awhile since I've seen any of your videos....I'm digging the beard fam
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this game! So much about it.. customization, the mechanics of it.. til this day my favorite all time racing game with NFSMW 2005
How have I never seen or heard about this game before!? More vids please
I need to revisit this game. I never got too far in it back in period but I remember it being pretty fun. I revisited NFS2 and Tokyo Xtreme racer drift 2 recently and got much farther than I did when they were newer.
Very cool video black panthaa
Woaaa, you just unlocked old memory. I almost forgot that SRS existed.
YESSS do a playthrough like old times Theo!
SAD. Racing games went downhill instead of improving. Great video man. I loved the memories.
Early to mid 2000 we’re the golden days for racing games. They were just getting pumped out. Midnight club, SRS, NFS, Tokyo extreme racer, Test Drive, the list goes on and on.
We need more of this
Thanks for sharing an awesome upload 😊
08:02 that Laughter killed me 🤣😂
How you’ve never played this is beyond me. I was born playing NFS but this game was also one of my favorites
NFSU 1&2, juiced 1&2, SRS, Hot import tuner challenge, midnight club 1/2 were all the go to street racing games back in the day
I may need to check it out again. I have most wanted, carbon, 2 copies of underground 2. Gran turismo 3 and 4 and a bunch of others I’ve been playing. My ps2 slim with a retrotink 2x pro. Been having fun!
One of my favorite games when i was a teenager. Not as much content as need for speed, but the quality of the driving and atmosphere made it just as good imo. Also, the girl videos was probably the first thing in my spank bank 😂
It's funny how your playing this right now cause I just picked this back up to play on the pc.
So happy you did this , I thought I was the last person alive who played this
Street racing syndicate was just as important as a need for speed underground 2. You have to be a real racing fan to really get this game. I kept up with all racing games. This was one of the most unique ones.
SRS is my jam. STILL play it on Steam to this day
Yo I has a core i7 is it able to run it .
I bought bo1 and this .
This is something i crave for so long since midnight club 2 and test drive
@@wardswagg yessir. It's so easy to run.
Warning, you'll need to hunt down a widescreen patch because it only likes to run in 4:3. Note that the UI in the video is still in 4:3 even though the game is 16:9. I never bothered but just know it's a thing. If you chose to go the 4:3 route, you'll just have a lower res, but you can crank the settings and it's just fine.
I vaguely remember renting this game from blockbuster way back in the day. From some reason I mix this game up with one of the midnight club games in my head.
Fun fact when modifying it best you stick with the stock body cause it will effect the stats of the car
Yeah body kits realistically add more weight down force and drag to the vehicle
@@PACKERMAN2077 YEAH WHY COULDNT OTHER GAMES DO THAT
@@dwaynemandac1245 because all the games in this segment for this genre are arcade Racers only something like Gran Turismo would even think of that
Did you realize Brian's jetta had F&F Brian's skyline vinyls
Found out another quick starting route was to use the Skyline and do the LA Checkpoint for the Evo 7
In those times this game was like a gold mine to me❤
Seems like SRS still a rare golden racing gem.
Please Do More,I Think Best To Finish Entire This Game
I loved this game so much lol, great car livery designs
I used to play that & NFS. It was cool having Tila Tequila as one of the models you can meet before she got really famous. One of the models on the game I went to school with. I still play it on Steam. Alittle glitchy with the Steam Deck
1:26 only thing I didn't like about SRS was it has very small map size for free roaming! All other was good at era, it has cops also !
Omg. How old am I? I remember burning my eyes with NFS U and SRS. And you played for the first time? I'm going to drink my tea
I'm super surprised you never played SRS!
Finally somebody shedding light on this game, I rmr my Z got so damaged and had no money to fix it. 20 years later I'm experiencing this in real life... super realistic
SRS was a banger, I remember having so much fun with it as a kid, surprised you never touched it before
Finally SRS! I thought you'd never play it
wow this channel i know it nice to get back old game intro to be nice quality
used to play this with my brother, you can play 2p on single display also using only single keyboard and that was an amazing experience
I remember in the menu there's an option to click on the models and they are actually the real life models and they dance for you its awesome
this game was badass back in the days, idk if ps2 or pc had online but on the OG xbox you use to be able to race people for pink slips and bet kind of like juiced 2 ! it was sick asf
remember going to the local video store and renting this game on the weekends it was so fun to play
Part 2 nah Need Full walkthrough with those glasses of this game 😁👍
I remember the iron man race? or something like that, man.. really loved that skyline...
Grew up playing all of these type of games. Need to play the Need for Speed maps on Asseto Corsa
We need more SRS on the channel
This was one of my all time favourite racing games growing up.
dude i think a few years ago you were playing that game thats how i got to know srs and i remember i downloaded that after watching your vid must be a long time ago
You should do a full playthrough on this game
let this be a series. please
This was one of the most challenging games while I was in middle school. I enjoyed it😂. I'm mind blown that you have never played it. I actually have it on my phone through a GameCube emulator..
Would love to see morw of tgis classic from you pants
I was literally looking at this game yesterday thinking of playing it
You should try playing street legal redline racing, loved WhyBeAre’s play through and it seems right up your alley
I actually loved this game when it first came out. I bought it on steam for nostalgia, but couldn’t get it to work right.
I love SRS I discovered it after Need For Speed but I still dream of owning that yellow Skyline with the Samurai on the sides
If you plan on looking at other mysterious or forgotten street racing games, take a look at RPM Tuning for PS2 and Xbox
3:33 *LMAO, what a sick sound effect*
I was today years old when I realized the first "girlfriend" you have to unlock in SRS is voiced by the same actress that did the introduction and tutorials for Burnout Revenge
SRS have the best selection of cars from what I remember wish that thing was on all
The fact you didn't know that the car reversing was giving everyone a car's length baffles me.
Aww man the memories playing this game in the middle of the night..
