  • I hope you find this video as interesting as it was to film it. I learned a lot about my vehicle through the process and I hope that by watching this video, it gives you insight into how the type of travel we do impacts your vehicle, as well as how to stay aware of your vehicles condition, and hopefully keep it running for many years to come. I have to give a big shout out to Suzuki Kyalami, for giving me their time and workshop to make this video. If you ever want more information on the inspection or want to book in your own vehicle (South Africa Only) You can get in touch with them at www.suzukikyal...
    Check out bit.ly/ROAMSITE for more information about the Vehicle, and to tune into the Podcast, and purchase T-shirts and Hoodies to support the Channel.

    4:40 Don't clean the drumbrakes with compressed air. You'll just get the dust into your lungs. Use special spray cleaner and you can collect the fluid. - God bless.

    Boet, part of what I do is design maintenance programmes and one thing I can highly recommend is regular oil sampling. Your vehicle is on a preventative maintenance schedule which is based, simplistically, on averages. Oil sampling will tell you if your oil is fit for further use and you can compare that to the scheduled oil change interval. You might need to change it more frequently. It will also detect silica parts per million in your oil which is an indication of air filter change or cleaning requirement. This can also be compared to the OE schedule. It cost a couple of Hundred Rands but compared to the cost of engine wear.
    Oil sampling also detects other particulate such as white metal. An increase in this type of particulate could indicate bearing wear in which case you could have it seen to before a failure occurs. So it is very insightful and can also be done on your transmission components.

      Sean that’s incredible that you can get so much insight from such a test; where can this be done?

    Have you thought about doing an under-body seal to protect yourself from corrosion? Something like fluid film would be a good yearly application, is clear so you can monitor the under-body rather than conventional black ones ( that in my mind can hide rust and prevent monitoring ). Love the inspection - Feels familiar to my routine, albeit its on my wet driveway here in the UK . Thanks for sharing.

    Love that you pay attention to maintenance! Been to so many countries were they buy a vehicle and then drive it to death never caring about maintenance or upkeep. In Southeast Asia it often seems like the "check engine" light is on by default... Good on you, you will hopefully enjoy your car for years to come, and we get to enjoy your videos ;-)

      Yes sir! That’s why I hope people will find this video and watch it to maybe learn to do a couple of these basic things themselves or take the vehicle to the dealer and get them to do this check as it is a standardized Suzuki check up 👌🏻

    If you are worried about rust under the vehicle give it a spray of lanotec or inox once a year. Spray everything including inside the chassis rails and engine bay. It will help prevent rust, prevent sensor issues and help when you cleaning and decreasing. Do not use wd40 as it will eat your rubbers.

    • @scottlampe70

    Good video thanks but from my point of view you should made a solid the luggage rack with the chassis and make it more rigid to the vehicle. I would add some more headlights on the luggage rack in case you had to drive through unknown desert areas. I would also add a partner to make the trip more exciting. Take care.

    What parts upgrades can be done without voiding the warinty

    • @RoamOverlanding
      @RoamOverlanding  4 роки тому

      Tires at 215/75/15; and a roofrack. The rest is up to your dealership. But most have suspension upgrades that won’t kill your warranty; the suspension warranty will then be transferred over to the suspension company instead.
