I bought one about a month ago and have cut my yard 4 times so far. It works great. My old gas powered riding mower sometimes got stuck in my backyard (steep hill) - the Ryobi has no problems at all. Another nice improvement over my old mower - I can cut in reverse. The old one did not have this option. You will also realize how much quieter these mowers are than gas powered. Don't get me wrong, it still makes a lot o f noise when the blades are running, but I'd estimate about 40-50% quieter than my old mower.
I picked up one three years ago and at 5' 11 3/4" I had the same problem with the seat. You get use to it over time but if it went back further it would be nice. Looking forward to a three year review.
Hi, Question : if my yard is 850m2 and every time I use the ride on Ryobi mower (48V 50ah lead acid battery) and I get nowhere near 50% battery life, say 60-70% remaining. Wouldn’t that mean I’m up for a long shelf life of use, due to no battery degradation? I was running the numbers of say an outlay of $800 on batteries every 2-4yrs ($1600 to reach 8-10yrs) VS a lithium ride on costing $8000, with an unknown shelf life on batteries. Ride on $3999 plus $1600 Ride on Lithium $8000 $2400 better off after 8-10yrs. Any advice or recommendations welcome pls. Australian weather with a no mow maximum of 8 weeks due to winter. What life do you think I’ll get from lead acid batteries if I’m guaranteed of never seeing 50% or less remaining? TIA.
bought mine a year ago and now have a flashing green light upon charging. and when i unplug the cable the green led stays lit and it won't 'start', bummer. thoughts??
Curious as to why you CHOSE the 50ah over the 75 since they are the same price and do you think it’s worth it to get an extended warranty? And also how big is your yard and can your get it done in one charge? Thanks, 👍🏾👊🏾✌🏾🇳🇬🇺🇸
Currently it shows a $400 difference. I got it because it was cheaper and plenty for my 1/4 acre lot. It was on sale and I was emailed a 10 or 20% off a single purchase so I used it on that. I believe it was $1600 and i got the bagging system with it which is crazy expensive so after tax total was $2,000. I've got probably 3/4 of battery left after a mow. It just has to stay on the charger at all times because it uses Lead Acid batteries
Isaiah's Reviews purchased the 38” 75ah one last night, free shipping to the home, should get here 29Sep. Expensive, total $2,500. Hope it lives up to the 1500 positive reviews. Thanks!
My review will come out at the end of the mowing season but just keep your expectations low and it'll be fine lol. The cutting and battery life is great but everything else is ehhh. I wish the hitch plate was thicker and the gas forward and reverse jumps so when you're going around stuff it's annoying. They really need to dial that back and ease it into forward and reverse slower.
All mowers have gone up. At the end of last year this mower was $2400. Beginning of last year the cheapest riding gas mower was $1500-1600 and right now it’s $1800. It’s went up like every other product has
What’s the verdict after a season of use? Strongly considering one but no sales at the moment so pretty pricey around $2700 with bagger and tax or $3100 if I add their warranty into the mix.
It's one of the cheapest battery ride on mowers even at that crazy price and probably won't go on sale until end of summer or you get a homedepot finance deal. All that said I love it. No more gas for me ever. This mower looks beefier than it is and has a thin gauge steel deck so if you have a bumpy lawn you might warp the deck. Outside of all that it's great
Thanks for the video. How wide is this mower at its widest point? I only have so much room in my garage and am trying to decide between this and a Troy-Bilt 30".
Product literature says it will drive through a 32" garden gate. I'm counting on pulling it into the basement through a 3'0" door for the winter. Have not actually attempted this yet, but love the mower.
@@mudgen001 I would like to know this too. I have a 40” gate and everywhere I see assembled width for this mower is 41” but it looks like that might include the chute. If I could left the chute temporarily to get through a gate, would that work? Can anyone confirm?
50ah model has 2 batteries? I ask because 100ah has 4 batteries in another review. so would that mean you can buy 1additional battery later and it'll be 75ah? thx
No that wouldn’t work. If you wired parallel you could increase Amp Hours but voltage would be 12 not 48, in series wiring you increase voltage but amperage stays the same unless you go back to parallel after a series circuit.
The mower is good, but the battery situation is financially not sustainable. Second time the batteries died after 12 months. The protection plan only covers 50% and only to up to $500. With currently $600 for the set of 4 batteries you can get plenty of gas. On top of that, Home Depot is out of batteries, and you need to buy from them otherwise the protection plan does not cover.
People it would be very easy to make your own battery. There is so many DIY Solar battery ideas out there. Take the time to look into it. Batteries don't cost that much. 1200 I can get another 3k Enphase solar battery for my system .LOL Ryobi is trying to rob you. LOL
Prefer Lithium ion. The lead acid battery overtime losses full charging due to memory that require four battery replacement. Saw a video of how to replace the battery. Not well thought usability. No wash port another issue.
When your batteries wear out, you’ll be shocked to learn how expensive they are to replace. My RM480ex batteries died after 3 years and will cost >$1200 to replace. HD stopped selling replacement batteries. Ryobi will not support you for battery replacement. I tried with many emails and calls. You’re better off buying a gas unit, which you can get many years of use out of with minimal maintenance. This buyer has remorse and several lead-acid batteries to dispose.
Ryobi really screwed their customers with this mower. I've got a little less than 38 hours on my mower and now I can barely get 20 minutes of very sluggish mowing. I just ordered a $1,000 kit to upgrade to lithium batteries. Disgusting on their part.
Buyer beware! This mower is made in China, and the batteries are only warrantied for 1 year. My Ryobi worked the first season, but the second season was dead (even after I keep the batteries charged up from time to time). By the time I got it in the shop the warranty had expired. New batteries would cost 1200 more or less according to Ryobi. I am still trying to see if Ryobi will do right by me, so I might update this comment at some point.
That sux! Whenever my mower is not in use I leave it on the charger since the batteries are just lead acid. There's a way to just quick swap with lithium but that is EXTREMELY expensive. Hopefully they fix it for you
Just got one for my husband for Father’s Day. I’ve been using it primarily. 😳🤣

You are lucky but me.. I had one for 2 month 8 1/2 hours run..that's it,,, Returned!!! GOOD LUCK!!!
I love mine. Done with gas for good.

No clue. Contact ryobi
So are your batteries still good. Mine went bad at about a year and a half.

Helpful video! What did you use to inflate the tires?
I would buy one if replacement batteries weren't so expensive.
Anythoughts now that you had some time using it?
Great no issues but set expectations low because it's not beefy like the photos show
Fantastic! About to buy one. This helped!
Is there a dump car option it can pull ?
You made a very helpful video 🙏❤️
I looked at it on home depot and it’s $2600 have these gone up or what ?

@@tj25peyton yep sucks now that I have to buy one lol but it’s only like a couple hundred more so not too terrible I guess.

Hi, what degree of hill incline it can climb? Thanks.
What should the meter read when the battery is fully charge
What do you think?
How long is the charging cable it comes with?
I'm 6'8" 330lbs... do you think it would hold me?
It'll hold you but getting in and out will be difficult plus riding around with your legs spread open might be awkward......... for the neighborhood

Very cool review. Is it hard to level the cutting deck?
Not sure haven't done that yet
