Nice tour, Chris! There was a lot more history to see here than I would have expected. DuPont museums in Delaware are well worth the trip, especially Winterthur. I definitely want to check out Violet Bank. Thank you!
@@VATravels Notwithstanding the phenomenon of acoustical shadow, Lee likely heard the Crater explosion at 4:44 am on the morning of July 30th,. I've heard old men (many born in 1890"s) recall their grandfathers hearing the explosion down in Waverly and below (about 25 miles east).
I went to school here in the 1970’s. The public library used to be in the basement. There is an old cemetery behind a house across the street East of Violet Bank. I’m uncertain who is buried there there ; as it is on private property.
The Lee and soldier statues were made and donated by my good friend Braxton Spivey in Charleston, SC.
Oh neat
The place is in need of a little preservation project. A treasure we can not afford to lose.
The song "the vacant chair", was featured on The Andy Griffith Show episode of "Hot Rod Otis"
Awesome like always
Great place to visit, so many items you can spend hours and not see everything in it! Awesome video- thanks!
