Good video! I think dynamike’s strength is also a big reason Barley never gets used. I think the best way to buff barley without a huge overhaul to his mechanics would be to increase the time his attacks stay on the ground, making him a better controller compared to dynamike or L&L. His lingering attack now puts him closer to tick, but with the key differences of having less range, but having the ability to fight better up close without the need of a super. Throwers in general have shown to be oversaturated, as they have similar mechanics, but at least we can make Barley a little distinct from his competition.
He was S tier mainly because the only other throwers were Sprout, Dynamike and Tick. There's also the fact that he could damage the Siege IKE safely with his super and not take any damage while doing so.
I think it's because it's a mode where you need to be very good at dealing damage over time with a long range (on the I.K.E) --like Grom and Sprout can do-- while still having good mid-range/defense/zone ability to compete when collecting the bolts --which Tick can do well-- And Barley could do both really well so he was a great pick, whereas other gamemodes in the game right now only favor one side or the other.
Barley was in the top 20 most picked/banned brawlers in the recent monthly finals, he s a good brawler, in fact probably better than dyna, is just not a flashy brawler and you can t really carry with him so the casuals prefer to play more funny options.
Barley Main here I think Barley is unique in the sense that he is one of the only throwers that is better in close range than long range. His sticky gadget lets him counter most close ranged brawlers, given that you can get close in the first place. To do that, you usually want to play as bait waiting around a wall or corner for an approach or you walk up, just enough to get them in gadget range and then back off quickly. Because of this, his best gamemode is probably showdown (or hot zone depending on the map). However with the addition of Kit ravaging solo showdown maps, it is recommended to strictly play duos as kits can not risk jumping you since you have a teammate to kill it during it's super. The only real downsides of Barley are the addition of hypercharges which allow most brawlers to ignore Barley's sticky gadget BUT Barley is confirmed to get his own Hypercharge next update which might save him. Additionally, his heavy dependency on his gadget makes it almost a requirement to use the extra gadget gear every match.
Tick is much more close range equipped with super and gadget too. Imo barley just fell off cause he has kinda replaced by lawrie and he is just boring now (and it is kinda hard to hit two parts off attack)
great analysis! While you are correct that Barley is very good at short range because of his gadget, it's never a good sign when a brawler relies on something that is not a part of their base kit with a few exceptions.

hello everyone! i'm the writer of the powerpoints, wanted to clarify something (again) So it turns out after i wrote the script for the powerpoint, the monthly finals happened, and barley was indeed picked. However, my point was not regarding meta relevance--any brawler can be meta relevant if they have the stats. If Hank could one-shot every brawler in the game, he'd be S tier for sure, even though he is mechanically weak. Barley's getting picked right now because his attack deals a cumulative 3200 damage per ammo. That's not mechanical strength, that's inflated stats. If Barley didn't have the stats he does now, he would be a second-rate Willow, or a second-rate Dynamike, etc. Throwers right now are just piled on top of each other in order of inflated stats, and the one with the most inflated stats is going to be picked or banned first, and the one with the second most will be picked or banned if the first one is banned or picked, etc. That is not good character design. Anyway, subscribe to stay tuned, and join the MythicalForce discord!
While I do agree throwers can replace each other in competitive matches, they do have somewhat of a distinction in their utility and I think that should be the focus of them moving forward too. Maybe add a new trait to Barley to make his attacks having a lingering effect even if the enemies get out of the puddle. Maybe a heal debuff?
Back when I first started playing Brawl Stars, Barley was the first brawler I pushed to 500, but I stopped playing in late 2022 due to other interests. I came back a month ago, and upon fighting Larry and Lawrie for the first time, I asked myself "Damn, this new brawler feels like a better Barley, I can't wait to see what changes they made to him to make him viable" and I was met with no changes :( While I still have fun playing with Barley now, he literally has no competitive use case when the twins or Mike exist. Unfortunately, the burst damage they offer far outweighs the control Barley provides for the same skill level. Why keep the enemy away from one area if you can just keep sending them back to spawn over and over again? If his damage, health, or range is increased, he suddenly outclasses another thrower. If his main attack size increases, that could easily lock out enemies from going through an area while avoiding damage. His reload is matched to how long his attacks stay on field, so he could become overwhelming if his reload becomes faster or his attacks linger for longer He's a perfectly balanced brawler in a vacuum, but all the other throwers provide such harsh competition that it's difficult to figure him out. I cannot think of a change that would be meaningful without giving him an additional mechanic, thus removing the simplicity of his design and requiring him to move to a different rarity
great analysis! I think Barley is starting to rise in the meta a little more now that the Ls have been nerfed time and time again. He is also probably getting a hypercharge next update, so based on that he could very well be viable again.
@@MythicalForce27give him back the initial super mechanics! Putting that aside, If they ever make a rework of him I would like a star power called confusion, where people hit by its super or basic attack by 2 hit get drunk and have inverted movements
I wished his super didnt get reworked. The og barley super dealt 8k dmg at close range. It literally deleted any close range engages if you played him correctly.
In all honestly his major problem is that even tho max dmg would be 1600+1600 (1800+1800 with sp), it barely happens to hit with both the ticks it lasts, so I’d reduce the damage per tick of a bit and make it so that the frequency increases (for example it would deal 1000 per tick, but the puddle would hit more frequently and last for 3 ticks)
As a barley main, even i can say that barley currently is outvlassed by every thrower in everything he does. Hes not even a good all-around option, since id argue that larry and lawrie and even willow and dyna fit that description better. He was only ever good a few years ago when Supercell increased his range to be more than dynas, but even then they reverted the change an update later. His kit is just too basic compared to other brawlers, which makes him fun to mess around with and play for me, but makes him pretty bad competetively. I hope his hyper charge is alright though
Barley was accurate pretty usable back then. He is pretty forgotten now because all other throwers outclass him, and because of all no-skill brainless assasins that hd stands no chance against. The thing is barley never got nerfed, they just indirectly made him bad by making every other thrower better
For a bit after global release, Barley (a technically free brawler) had damage on each of his super projectile separately. The damage in Heist was so funny Edit: Forgot to mention it properly, the distance between each super projectile depended on how far you threw the super. If you hugged the enemy safe and auto-aimed, that was a lot of damage
I would like to see a PowerPoint about Frank, why he is so bad for all this years yet not getting a proper rework (which became obvious in literally 2 years after his release)(although i heard from tik tok supercell plans on doing Frank rework I'm not sure if it's official and rework might be a failure)
I’m a huge fan of throwers since i main tick and barley (and Otis but he’s not a thrower) and I use Larry and lawrie and dynamike sometimes. I hope barleys hypercharge is good 🙏
barley as always been my favorite thrower, since i started playing, i always loved zoning people, and i always found his 1st star power to be so good, curing yourself with every attack, seemed pretty broken at the time, and still is, if used in good scenarios, i think he needs a rework, like removing the second stat power, and buffing his overall damage, i'd say, normal attack brought at 1780, and super, each bottle deals 1550 on hit, but maybe only 1250/1450 on the terrain after landing. i don't exactly know how i'd replace the second sp tho, maybe a shield, maybe a stun, or maybe a fire/poison effect similiar to crow's attack, but as a passive, like with a bar similiar to bibi's homerun, or eve. the idea is that, every 20s the next attack will also set fire to enemies; the damage maybe around 250/300 for 4 seconds. or something like that, maybe this to the super instead would be better, idk im yapping. i think his gadget are pretty balanced overall. i miss playing barley. you can tell haha. amazing video ❤
You made some solid points, but you're really wrong about the sameness syndrome. All the artilleries have their unique roles and purposes just as every other class. Barley is a zoner who specializes in choke point control and keeping the enemies away from the important places of the map. Tick is a zoner similar to Barley but he cannot punish the enemies for trying to cross through the chokepoints like Barley can, but he makes up for it with his long range and crazy super. Dynamike is simply a damage dealer which is the reason why is he the most popular artillery, he can deal damage and get kills which is also the reason why is Piper the most popular marksman. Sprout has a long range, he's good in tight spots on the map and he can have a lot of value on grassy maps which makes him really versatile. Willow has a playstyle similar to Gene's, her super is so powerful that it can change the tide of battle instantly. Grom is the long range artillery, due to his unique attack and wall destroying super he has value on both closed and open maps. He can also provide a lot of utility with his watch tower gadget, or straight up just deal a lot of damage with his other gadget. And of course we have Larry, the annoying one. He can easily deal damage with his main attack and he can also play a role of a spawner similar to Nita's with his super. But yeah, you were right about throwers being easily replacable.
I get everything you said in the video tho. I played barley around June and my god he was unplayable… I now have 3 accounts with him tier max on each 🙂
Barley main here, barley is meant to support the team in general without being a support, his first gadget is to support the whole team in there interactions and his 2nd gadget was only made so he can protect himself from assassins. As for his issues barley is VERY dependent on maps not modes, just looking at his star powers alone you can tell your build depends on the map, are you in a close ranged map? just use extra noxius since you wont be getting dealt that much damage, are you in a slightly open map? Use medical use so you can get back hp while still keeping your pressure. Thats all i can say but i have to admit barley has been playing better than usual because hes very uncommon to face. Honestly if people faced barley more then he'd be in trouble, as for his super it can take up ALOT of space and control where your opponent is going. I still think his super deserves a rework but you should use it wisely.
Don't their supers differentiate them from one another too? Plus Barely is pretty unique in the sense that he too can hold a choke point since his attacks last long on the ground, which is an aspect that is better than Larry's attack.
Thanks for watching! Subscribe to stay tuned with the series!

@@feniceazzurra7168 i don't think they would be allowed to do that considering it's a game for kids...
@@MythicalForce27 damn, I suppose you are right.
It would be funny though, and more importantly on theme
Love ur vids
bro was first 😭
@@MythicalForce27 Yes but I can't be caught saying first lol
I love ur powerpoints, please make more powerpoints... I've never liked powerpoints so much (more of a keynote guy myself)
WILLOW CAMEO
WHAT THE FUCK IS A HITTABLE SUPER
arguably my favourite thrower because unlike dinnermike the thrown substance stays on the ground
ooh subscribed; very nice
these outdated brawlers need some love man
4:09 tick and barleys attack is very different for example
Very solid analysis . I think we need an assassin power point and whose better than crow
He's actually pretty decent right now on hot zone and knockout as a last pick
they should make a short ranged, thrower tank. could be really interesting. they made a thrower like mortis (mico) so its not impossible.
Amazing once again ❤️
thank you ♥
Barley was accurate pretty usable back then.
He is pretty forgotten now because all other throwers outclass him, and because of all no-skill brainless assasins that hd stands no chance against.
The thing is barley never got nerfed, they just indirectly made him bad by making every other thrower better
Hes really good in knockout and in some hot zone maps. Valued a lot by pros is like top 20 pockej and banned.
what if they add a brawler that shoots at close range yet throws at long range, sorta how nani’s bullet pattern changes based on where she aims
Holy shit these PowerPoints are hella good
thank you so much!
Next video on penny
For a bit after global release, Barley (a technically free brawler) had damage on each of his super projectile separately. The damage in Heist was so funny
Edit: Forgot to mention it properly, the distance between each super projectile depended on how far you threw the super. If you hugged the enemy safe and auto-aimed, that was a lot of damage
Yes, we need to bring back old super and maybe 25% faster projectile equipment
The memes are just too good
thank you so much, it's fun to make them!
At least he's getting a hypercharge
man the hyper charge helped him
I miss the good ol'Barley who could one shot a Bull in close combat 😢
I would like to see a PowerPoint about Frank, why he is so bad for all this years yet not getting a proper rework (which became obvious in literally 2 years after his release)(although i heard from tik tok supercell plans on doing Frank rework I'm not sure if it's official and rework might be a failure)
They announced a rework incoming tbh
he's coming with the epics and rightfully so because if we did make a powerpoint for him it'd get seriously outdated with time
I’m a huge fan of throwers since i main tick and barley (and Otis but he’s not a thrower) and I use Larry and lawrie and dynamike sometimes. I hope barleys hypercharge is good 🙏
Hear me out on hot potato heist 🗣️
barley as always been my favorite thrower, since i started playing, i always loved zoning people, and i always found his 1st star power to be so good, curing yourself with every attack, seemed pretty broken at the time, and still is, if used in good scenarios, i think he needs a rework, like removing the second stat power, and buffing his overall damage, i'd say, normal attack brought at 1780, and super, each bottle deals 1550 on hit, but maybe only 1250/1450 on the terrain after landing. i don't exactly know how i'd replace the second sp tho, maybe a shield, maybe a stun, or maybe a fire/poison effect similiar to crow's attack, but as a passive, like with a bar similiar to bibi's homerun, or eve. the idea is that, every 20s the next attack will also set fire to enemies; the damage maybe around 250/300 for 4 seconds. or something like that, maybe this to the super instead would be better, idk im yapping. i think his gadget are pretty balanced overall. i miss playing barley. you can tell haha. amazing video ❤
My biggest regret is upgrading barley to lvl 8 bc I didn't have any other throwers
Barley is a controller, increase the radius and damage of his attacks and he should be alright
Barely Is my favorite cuz he's the best zone camper in the game due to all the self heal lmao 😂
You brought me back to brawl after squad busters snatched me away 🫡
i myself play more squad busters than brawl now 😔
you forgot about sprout having a different type of artillery making him a bit different.
Barley is super underrated in knockout with his second gadget
Yeah he's in the top 50 lol
Barley is pretty good rn in the meta
He can easily deal damage with his main
attack and he can also play a role of a spawner similar to Nita's with his super. But yeah, you were right about throwers being easily replacable.
Poor barley I wish I could regain my powerpoint fom barley and put them on L &L
Well I’m sure you’re happy about barley NOW :)
Indeed
Can you make a video for Willow? She feels sooooo weak, despite being my fav thrower.
You used zoning correctly this time👍
Don't their supers differentiate them from one another too? Plus Barely is pretty unique in the sense that he too can hold a choke point since his attacks last long on the ground, which is an aspect that is better than Larry's attack.
differentiates in playstyle, not in role
@@SqquareLordDoesn't that also apply to snipers and assassins? Different playstyle come with different results
