    Looks like good spray technique. Remember, if you don’t get in one pass then do it again. Much better to put 4 or 5 coats than one thick coat. Paint takes 32 days to dry. When sprayed on thick only the top surface will cure. Engine heat will cause the underlying paint to burn and peal.

      Go time!
      My wife went to the gym on a Saturday morning , and my buddy asked if he could drop in ( with his helicopter ! ) I said perfect timing !
      The kids loved it!
      When my wife saw the video she said “you did that on purpose. “
      I said no just good timing!
      Love the restoration
      I’m working on a 69 cj5

    I painted my CJ2A OD Green in a similar paint booth! I constructed the booth out of 2x2's screwed together with painters plastic stapled on. I did it in the summer and it was extremely hot in the paint booth. Luckily OD green is very forgiving!

    Glad you talked about the thick paint on unrestored jeeps. I don;t understand some restorers attempts at doing a concours restoration on such a utilitarian vehicle.
    This guy may as well be spraying paint with a garden hose:

      My 1956mga: Yes Tony being in the motor trade had good paint matching contacts, we found a patch of untouched OD up under the dash,(so it was not affected by sun), of a Jeep and got that colour matched, the problem of course is that even the original paint varied from batch to batch, but the colour is what is was when it came out of the factory in 194-, so we can be sure it is right, Chris B.

Hope my two jeep projects , although not MB's or GPW's ( cj5's to be precise ) come out half as well as your builds , they'll be satisfying . • @olivedrabgarage6243
      @olivedrabgarage6243 4 роки тому +1

      He said that at the start of the video....but if you can get to a professional paint supplier just ask for a "lustreless olive drab for high temp automotive/engine enamel"....then it's just a matter of working out the shade of the colour. I had to get mine custom made because the US Jeep parts suppliers won't send paint overseas and nobody in Australia supplied it.
      I can supply a photo of my paint codes though they might be Australian codes, I'm not sure...but it'd be worth asking a paint supply store if the codes are international as my paint is supplied by Dulux. Post your email address or join the International Flat Fender group on ebay and post there.
