Memories there like. Loved the red coast road. And the house at the roundabout with the blue roof. A lot of that area looks exactly the same to this day. Good video.
4:03 I remember those three blocks of flats south of the coast road. In the film version of The Likely Lads, Terry was living there. When Bob returned to his car after visiting Terry, it was sitting on 4 boxes, all the wheels had gone.
@@swaneknoctic9555 well remembered .. I vaguely remember shouting that to a group of kids when he arrived. Wanted to check on YT before replying but couldn't find the film. Regards from Whitley Bay
Strange seeing the 14 stories, (no longer there now) My parents & me lived in one of them flats when I was first born for a couple year, I still live on the Coast Road today. Surprising how little has changed really, except it's a hell of alot busier today. Billy Mill roundabout has gone now of course. Thanks for the vid & trip down memory lane
The flats at Wiltshire Gardens were demolished in the nineties as well, but there isn't much change, except the bloody traffic. Nice to see some old school cars like Austin Allegros, Volvo 340s and that old Cortina estate at Billy Mill that was falling apart.
Amazing video, I've got family living in the Ashington area so I've been on the Coast Road a fair few times over the years Seems odd seeing those tower blocks near the Silverlink along with the A1 being directly off it! Not sure when the former went but I know the latter moved onto the Western Bypass a few years later
Aside from a few old looking cars it's surprising just how little has changed in regard to the roads and houses. All the advancements were made inside our pockets and small grey boxes in our homes it seems. No Jetsons or Back to the Future II stuff unfortunately.
Goosebumps for the past as I drive that rd everyday

Hardly any traffic, unbelievable compared with today!
What are you on about? The roads and motorways are always like this during the working hours day.
Roadworks outside Tynemouth pool for the last 30years haha
Don't think they've moved since 1980 lol, that strip still ain't finished.. Council on overtime abet.

Nobody went to the gym back then, they had massive biceps driving without power steering instead! Mint video.
Ow 2022 God I loved this thank for this upload you got anymore
That metal coat hanger as an Ariel on the car (1.03mins in).... is picking up some weird shit across the airways.
Probably the old style Radio 2 or Radio Newcastle, Frank Wappat used to play some really old music on his shows. Myself, it was Metro.
