On the Peeew,* Michael Alig said Peter Gatien and the club kids had an official videographer who took hours of footage of parties... nobody knows where those tapes are now. Maybe he was just talk talk talking, but he was talking to Ernie Glam who seems pretty sensible and Ernie didn't contradict him. It would be fascinating to see those tapes, kind of like the 5 Ninth Avenue Project* on E!! *these are both UA-cam channels
He is from Canada so he must know that there was a limelight in Montreal Canada before 76 so as for the name he did not just think of it unless he was the owner of the club in Montreal Before the Limelight there was the Lorelea in Montreal that club was the first Disco in Montreal it opened 1 year before the limelight.Lorelea opened in 74
Marlene Ful He was not the owner of the Limelight in Montreal. That was small potatoes. He wanted to hit it big in the U.S. It was Guliani that was out to get him and take him down.
I remember clubbing in England 05/06 and basically everyone were drug peddlers.. you bought 10 because it was cheaper and sold a few at the club.. No biggie.
41:58 ketamine isn't an animal tranquilliser. It's a dissociative anaesthetic licensed for human use. It's designed to knock you so senseless they can perform surgery and you don't know it. That's what it's for. It also happens to put you in an intense dreamlike state, the so-called ketamine trip.
Hello, senior, I am a nightclub practitioner from China. I want to own this high-definition movie resource; I want to translate it into a Chinese version so that Chinese nightclub practitioners can also watch and learn. Senior, can you give me a high-definition video material?
Nothing like this is around today. Nothing like the 80s & 90s in Dallas we probably had the second biggest club/rave scene in the country. I also remember when the Club Kids came to Dallas. I personally kicked them out of some of our parties. They were too too obnoxious.
Michael Alig is now free.Apart from a fe free raves here and there, the party scene has now petered out.MDMA has petered out. Aig is great and I would put him up any day These clubs were always destined for their downfall. nothing good lasts forever!!
Kat Lowe It was his friend who killed Angel. Alig cut his legs off. I have no idea where you got that information but you need to spend 2 minutes googling stuff before you say that. Watch Party Monster the Shockumentory.
MDMA was made illegal right before I got into clubbing. I cant imagine how wild the 90s would have been for us if E was legal. Although it was pretty widespread anyway.
I totally HATE the way that Sean Kirkham dude talks. He tries so hard to sound like he’s important yet was just a SNITCH for the feds. I’m surprised no one has taken his life for the crap he’s done.
People who wana take drugs on a night out will do so. It's not the club it's the clubbers. I don't partake myself but I don't think it's fair or that it solves anything by closing down a club.. If the owners are profiting from the drugs taken in their club then that's different..
Why would you be banned from 3 countries for one crime? I'm from Norway so I know we have fucked up laws but I think the crime has to be committed in Norway..
dagfinissocool I meant to put NZ but my stupid phone 'corrected' it to No! I hope I'm allowed in Norway as it's a country I've always wanted to visit (along with Japan during the blossom season)
GRRRR THE INJUSTICE!!! I FN HATE POLITICS! Let The People Dance!! Surprisingly good documentary but just what was going on with the lighting during the interviews? glow little glow bug glow ;-)
Not really. At least to me. I thought it was pretty well done, giving lots of information and history that I didn't previously know about. After having lived in NYC during that time period, I found this documentary to be extremely well-made.
So glad people shot so much video in a time when video was not common or simple to shoot.
Absolutely fantastic documentary covering music, clubs and drugs in New York in the 80's and 90's. Makes me nostalgic! Let people party!

Wow! What an an absolutely brilliant documentary. Thanks for the video. Thank you Billy Corben.
Great Doco Thanks For Sharing This.
I wish I was 21 in the 90s I was only born in 1994 :(
+Ellis Dee The mid eighties would have been better, the club scene was waning by the mid 90's.
+Max Hall I want to go back to the 90s so I go clubbing with my mum lol she would of been 18
+Ellis Gemini That sounds a bit weird :)
+Gilgamesh Aeternus Me and my mum are like best friends so it would be fun seeing what my mum was like before she had me
Ellis Gemini i fund mums and daughters who go clubbing together very disturbing

He was the owner of a club in Cornwall ON that, compared to the Montreal Limelight, was even smaller potatoes.
I worked here in '92-'93.
vonxazi salute from Glasgow Scotland 🏴 I bet you seen some crazy stuff
Poor Peter, the state totally screwed him over.
Thanks for this docu!
Would you say that Peter Gatien & Michael Alig were trying to be like Steve Rubell (RIP) and Ian Schrager who owned Studio 54.
Weird he died at age 54. Gaiten was also in partnership with studio54
I remember clubbing in England 05/06 and basically everyone were drug peddlers.. you bought 10 because it was cheaper and sold a few at the club.. No biggie.

i second that motion :)
yes that's what has been said in the documentary already.
If the drugs taking people feel the club as a safe place to do their things, then the club owner has to choose. Party club or safe harbor.
*sigh* I miss x
should carry an epilepsy warning
thank you for Colin Quinn!
29:48
New York needs another Giuliani now.
38:15 haha
25:13 he looks and sounds like that food dude Anthony Bourdain
Rohypnol?! But you’d just pass out.
At 1:24:30 you can tell he wanted to say the "N"word with that PAUSE in his sentence.
You can hear the tires screeching!
50 cent brought me here lol
Michael Caruso... what a dog!
Poor guy :/
Sort of but also sort of a lucky guy. What a life....
You got that right :/
Wow. That's really sad. Don't worry, Peter: I'm banned from the US, OZ, & NO because of £30 of gear I sold 15 years ago. No crimes before or since
whats NO?
meld beach Norway
Why would you be banned from 3 countries for one crime? I'm from Norway so I know we have fucked up laws but I think the crime has to be committed in Norway..

Meddlesome corporate takeovers :pfft:
this is an incredibly poorly made documentary isnt it?

+anotherrobmckay It's ok....a bit long winded and random sometimes
I worked at two of Peter's clubs '92-'93. I knew all these people. It's a pretty well done docu.
except its a crap film? you know the difference right?
I'm enjoying it
Doc garbage
So Justin Bieber should be booted
Steve ldnuk The longest undefended border is now defended specifically to keep Bieber the fuck out of Canada.
Then they should just drop him in the Amazon Jungle, right in the middle.
Steve ldnuk Even the tribes of the deepest Amazon who have no contact with the outside world know and hate the Bieber.
Then return the millions of $$$$ in taxes he's paid into a corrupt US tax system supporting your welfare states = corporate thieves.
