I grew up living across the alley from my aunt. She made biscuits morning. All I had to do was walk across the alley to her house to get my biscuit fix. I miss her so.
Thank you for explaining the difference in the two biscuits. Mine always came out not rising. I would get so mad. Now, I know how to make a biscuit to rise. Thank you so much!!!
I made these today and they were so easy to make I loved them ITS GREAT NOT HAVING TO MIX IN THE SHORTING Everyone loved them I like the tall biscuits best
I live in West Texas and cannot get that mix. But I Only go by Your biscuit recipe. My family Loves my biscuits. And I Love making making them for them. I enjoy making your custard recipe when I have biscuits left over.
I've seen my Mama( Grandmother) and my Mother dip their biscuits in a milk wash of two ingredients. One of those was the buttermilk, and a family secret ingredient. Not only was the biscuits flavorful, but flaky and tender. Subscribed. Peace
I had made some of these today for the first time and they came out really really good with the southern biscuit mix. My son from another mother said he would buy them. So thank you again
I know this was posted s couple years ago but I'm hoping this comment still gets to you. I watched this video couple years ago and bought the mix to try these out. Because of multiple illness over past few years I hadn't gotten around to using the mix until today. Wow they were delicious and home run for everyone that had some. Thank you for sharing your videos with all of us.
I recently bought southern biscuit mix. I can’t wait to make biscuits with it according to your instructions on here. And thanks for showing the difference between the cut biscuits in the rolled biscuits. A huge difference.
I just found you and I am intrigued, I purchased a bag of Southern Biscuit mix and looked up recipes for it. Thank you. I’m signing up for the newsletter now. I collect cookbooks.
im from UAE and im interested in the southern cooking especially this biscuit and I hope to try it soon with cast iron skillet, thank you very much for your videos
Hi I live in Missouri and couldn't find it here. My niece goes to school in Alabama and had her bring some back. I can't wait to make some good biscuits🤗
Now those look perfect if I’ve ever saw a perfect biscuit. I did get to finally go to Mr. Bojangles restaurant when I went to Tennessee a few years back, those biscuits were scrumptious! My mother-in-law from N.C. always spoke of them. What I’m trying to get to is, your biscuits look as good or better....nice! I’m hoping I can find that biscuit mix in Oklahoma!
The biscuit you rolled without flour that's a biscuit that I'll used to put gravy on the other one is to put some good old country ham or home made sausage between , thanks for the recipe Tammy . I didn't know they made a biscuit mix that all ready had shortening & butter all ready in the mix I'm gonna be looking for it the next time i go to the market that's gonna make my biscuit life easy , because i was making homemade biscuits from scratch like granny did thanks for the short cut idea.
I don’t know the difference is from my homemade wth White Lily but this Southern Biscuit Mix is easy and OMGOODNESS THE LIGHTEST BUSCUIT AND BEST BISCUIT IVE EVER MADE! I add a bit of honey to the batter and a bit to the butter to spread on the finished biscuit! Awesome!!!! I just bought 8 bags ftom my Walmart cuz I can’t run out of this awesome mix!!! It’s just too darn good!!!!!
I tried this southern biscuit mix and OMGOODNESS! The BEST BISCUIT EVER!!! Light and fluffy soo much better than my white lily recipe!!! This is my new biscuit go to! Sooo darn good!!!!
Tammy, I hope you see this post because my heart is about to BUST! My husband isn't much of a foodie but my son and brother in law are HUGE lovers of food. I have always been what they considered a good cook but I wasn't nothin' til I started with your recipes. I have perfected your Southern Biscuit Mix (thanks to you!). My husband RAVES when I make your biscuits and for him to be so proud of my biscuits it just makes my heart happy. I promised him biscuits tonight if he would go to church with me on Sunday and I successfully negotiated!! He loved them so much he called his brother to see if he'd eaten and he took your biscuits 5 miles to deliver to his brother. (I added cheese since I was making veggie beef soup). Thank you Tammy-your're the BESTEST!
we don't have Southern Biscuit mix in Texas (at least not in San Antonio area); we have Pioneer Biscuit mix - YUMMMMM!! I'm with you - don't like Bisquick or whatever it's called. Pioneer is made here in SA, so that's probably why we have that instead of Southern or White Lily (can't get that either, although I remember back in the day we had White Lily). I'm happy with Pioneer, though. Just love watching you - it's like watching family!!! God Bless you and yours : )
I'm in a country right now (Only 5 more days thank GOD!) where Crisco is hard, or impossible to find, but they do have whipping cream. So I mixed up some selfrising flour and made some 2 ingredent biscuits. They were very good!
I had never heard of or noticed Southern Biscuit Mix until I saw on your video. Bought it and can’t wait to try. This video was so helpful as you pointed out textures and techniques. Thank you! Hey from TN
My biscuit mix definitely says " do not knead excessively" and I have never been very happy with the results. They always come out crumbly. Thank you so much for showing me another way
Thank you for making this video. We've had problems getting the dough to rise, and we had no idea how to remedy that. We would have never guessed to add some extra self-rising flour into the dough. Perfect! Thank you!
My first time making biscuits or baking for that matter at all, I followed your instructions everything came out amazing even my girlfriend said she is never leaving now! Ha you are amazing thank you about the tip about kneading and working flour into definitely did the trick!! Wish I could post the pictures!
I watched this the other week and waited and waited patiently for my Amazon shipment to come in! Finally got some of this biscuit mix you suggested and will be trying some tonight with a delicious pot roast! I'm sure they will be just as delicious :)
Spoiler alert: They turned out great! A bit crumbly as I did the "roll" method you suggested. But they did fluff up a bit more perhaps because I let them sit for about 20 minutes (poor timing waiting for everything else to be done) still delicious! Have learned so many new techniques watching this channel!
Just had to tell ya that I am a Tennessee boy up here in North Central IL. I went to Sams club yesterday and about passed out when I found White Lilly self rising flour!! I bought 2 10 lb bags without a thought!
So, the fact that you used self rising flour to knead in helped with the rising as it has baking powder in it. The higher rise in the ones cut with the cutter has to do with the fact you used a cutter. Patting them forces the dough to come together and sort of squish, cutting creates the layers and they can rise easier with the high heat in the oven. If you look at the sides of the raw biscuit, you can see what I mean. Great channel :)
Like someone else said, I never could figure out why my biscuits did not rise- they spread out thin. Mine today could have won a blue ribbon!Great instructional video. Thanks so much!
I could never make biscuits. I have tried to over the years. My Momma could make Great biscuits. I always wanted to make some like she did. After I watched your video about the southern biscuit mix. I got some and made some of the best biscuits I have ever made. They looked and tasted like my Momma's. Thank you Tammy so much for doing a video on this. I always wanted to make a biscuit like my Momma did
Love me some homemade biscuits sipped with some homemade sweet sweet tea with fried cubed steak smothered with brown gravy, rice, peas and carrots with some butter and sugar added to it oooooh child!!!
I'm from Indiana, I seen this mix at the store. I plan to buy some bc I want to try it out. I've bee making biscuits from scratch for a while now. I'm sure it will be worth a shot😁Thanks Tammy ☺️💜
Hi Tammy I made my first batch today. I rolled and cut mine. But they did not come out like yours but they were good. My first mistake I used a plastic bowl I must purchase a metal or a hard plastic bowl. My cousins from Georgia taught me and now I’m watching u. You are absolutely right they don’t sell the flour in North Jersey I usually bring mine from GA OR VA. But I do believe it can be purchased at Walmart I. South Jersey. Thank u for the class. I will make a batch every other day until I get the biscuits like yours and my cousins. Thank you
I live in Pennsylvania and ordered some of the biscuit mix directly from Redwoodmills.com (that's the name of the mill on the bag). The price was reasonable, however I just went on their site and it's under construction. Thank you so much for showing how to make them rise. I made them a few times, followed the directions and got frustrated lol. Can't wait to try again.
Making biscuits in morning the biscuit mix hard to find going to folkston to get it. An I received my cook books in mail today an I Love them will order number three next . Love y'all Tammy ❤️💕
Hey sweet Tammy, our mouth is watering for those Delicious Homemade Biscuits ♡♡♡ I need to get in the kitchen and make some♡♡♡ Thanks-a-million for sharing with us ♡♡♡ GOD BLESS EVERYONE ♡♡♡ GOD IS AMAZING ♡♡♡ We Love y'all so very much ♡♡♡
MMM hot biscuit and pear preserve... Now that is what i am talking about!Makes you want to get up and slap someone(just a saying).so good! thank you, brings happy memories
The little dots in Bisquick are shortening dots. I've only bought it a few times to make their recipes, but we didn't like it. I used to buy Jiffy Mix, it was similar to Bisquick but better. But I think they quit making it. They had this coffee cake recipe on the back of the box that was really good.
My daddy introduced me to Southern biscuit mix years ago and that's all I used to make biscuits good stuff
Nothing better than a great southern biscuit made by a great southern woman.Great video👍👍👍
I grew up living across the alley from my aunt. She made biscuits morning. All I had to do was walk across the alley to her house to get my biscuit fix. I miss her so.
Love me some biscuits. I’m sure they are good. 🌞❣️
I love the way you say, "Yummieeeee"
My mama rolled hers and yet, I prefer your technique of kneading and cutting!! It is YUMMIEEEEEE

Everyone loved them I like the tall biscuits best
I make mine from scratch like my grandmother did. Martha White self rising flour is my go to.

Hey from southern Indiana! 🤗
Scrumptious biscuits! I can make them from scratch but Formula L has spoiled me and it is what I now use 90% of the time!
My biscuit mix definitely says " do not knead excessively" and I have never been very happy with the results. They always come out crumbly. Thank you so much for showing me another way
Wish you had a restaurant here in Tennessee ☕💕your food always looks so delicious !!
I ordered off of Amazon The Southern Biscuit Mix. Can’t wait to try
Thank you for making this video. We've had problems getting the dough to rise, and we had no idea how to remedy that. We would have never guessed to add some extra self-rising flour into the dough. Perfect! Thank you!

Love me some homemade biscuits sipped with some homemade sweet sweet tea with fried cubed steak smothered with brown gravy, rice, peas and carrots with some butter and sugar added to it oooooh child!!!
the reason for patting them with buttermilk is it helps them to brown and have a shine appearance. nice biscuits .
