"Philips head" screws on Japanese bikes are always stripped out because they are not Philips heads they are JIS and everyone is using the wrong screwdrivers...
I thought he was going to explain just that but he didn't. Vessel makes a lot of jis drivers so that probably was one.
Correct
Good to know. I remember the old Reed and Prince, but this one is new to me. Thanks.
The other thing that can help is one of those manual impact drivers. Not the electric or pneumatic kind, the kind you hit with a hand hammer. They can really be a lifesaver on tight screws.
@@Lucas12v for sure you can even use one of those after turning the head into a flathead. But having the right bit in even that really helps.
Lol the “nNoOoOOOOOO!!!” Whenever he found something wrong
Definitely had me cracking up!
Funniest part is he keeps saying he got ripped off when he literally got the cheapest bike 😭
That trans am ur actual trans am? I'm not into muscle more into jdm but shits clean 👌
@@frostbittenbruh832 thx bro, yes it’s mine 2000 WS6 6-speed
@@averagecarguy420 stock?
"Didn't take you for a quitter" - see, Sean is experienced at auctions, most of us would have snapped that bait right up and kept on bidding up the price of something we really didn't want. You my hero, boss
I thought he said “queer” 😬😂
@@ElyCaroom Me too, lol! I was like "what?" lol
reply to all: I definitely thought he said queer and rewatch for 5th time but I am so glad for another perspective. just seemed bizarre in this day and age
You got to know when to walk away. I’m not saying I always walk when I should but this time i did
Yes thanks , i thought it was “queer” , but quitter makes more sense and def fits the pronunciation ; +1 to OP for internet rage de-escalation
Vessel JIS impact screwdrivers. JIS bits, a must for everything japanese.
I was thinking if those heads are always stripped, they must use Japanese "Philips."
Everyone needs at least one set of these drivers.
that cruse control is for fuel millage. i had the 1984 voyager 1300 6 cylinder. believe it or not a few car parts interchanged with the 1300 version. i loved that bike
You see a beat-up old wing, I see a blank canvas with lots of potentials. I'd love to have one like that to go with my Yamaha Royal Star tour deluxe. It would give the Yamaha a break from doing all the miles I do going on trips with it during the summer. I would put about 3 to 4 grand tops in her starting with a paint job, new stereo and speakers, maybe some LED lighting, and I could DIY fix the cruise control and other small issues. And since I have a good running, excellent condition touring cruiser already, I could take my time and gradually fix it up to what I'd want. Then enjoy the heck out of it riding all up and down the eastern seaboard and Appalachian mountain range.
I rode one of those Buells for 4 days - pace vehicle for bicycle race weeked - amazing machine but after 45 min so uncomfortable, leg gets cooked. After a 6 hour night on it , the next 3 days made me question some life choices...
Restoring old bikes is awesome unless it's a Harley then it just gets expensive..... Restoring Japanese is great... I just picked up an intruder 750 1990 for $600 already got it running and riding it all mint... Just needs a clutch I already ordered it can't wait🎉... So far I've changed all the fluids. Took off tank cleaned it with acid then neutralized it and then finally sealed it. Inline fuel filter on a fuel hose... We had to clean the carburetors a little bit but that's it..... Buy a battery and clutch kit.... I'm into the bike about $950 total... It only has thirteen thousand miles on and brand used tires
I had a V-Star 1100 and that's exactly what happened to mine. In the end, the starter didn't engage at all and just spun. "Yea, lets put the starter clutch inside the engine case with no slip at all." Great design.
Don't they have kickstarters? If so, just use that instead?
@@danishghostriderkick starters are long gone on road bikes. Even dirtbikes are often electric start only these days.
@@Lucas12v Well thats dumb
Stripped screws probably used a Phillips head, rather than a jis head. Looks the same, Phillips were designed for Cadillac because workers were over tightening screws and destroying expensive parts. Phillips are designed to back out when too much torque is used. Easy to replace a .01 cent screw rather than a $50-500 part. Jis looks so much the same, but I was gifted one in the ‘80’s for use on my Honda Twinstar, and never stripped a screw on it. Lost the screwdriver, now I ride a Harley! Great bike, rode a Voyager when new. Great work you guys do to further people’s love of motorcycles. Keep up the good work!
Oh my....I'd walk out of there bankrupt.....but probably very happy 😜🏍❤👍
Sweet deal, I've got a 91 Voyager XII as well! Love that bike, my speedometer doesn't work either! Our bikes are basically twins lol
Haven't been on SRK or bikes & beards channel in a while. But dayum, Caleb looks super lean, like he got into some rigurous diet and hardcore excercise routines.
Good for him.
I love you guys videos like these where you buy the cheapest bikes and fix them. This makes me want to go to an auction just to learn how to fix one 😎.
I have own two of the Voyager XII, sold each one after 120K , never leaked a drop, fix it with hardware store stuff. Never had to clean the carbs. the rear speakers sat on the chrome rack on the trunk, the light switch would get loose and the trunk light stays on. There are a few of us out here that can tell you what you want to know about them.
The trick is never let them sit which you wisely did not. Once any carbed bike sits long enough it's an automatic "strip and dip" (undiluted Pine-Sol is terrific).
i have now 2001 25000 miles having problems with the shift forks 1 then 4th and 5th pls help me luv my bike og
Got you beat. I got for $300 a 2002 Honda Shadow Spirit VT750 that had sat for 2 years in a garage. Owner had no idea what was wrong. I got it started (roughly) in 30min. It was a bad fuel pump relay. I bypassed it with a piece of wire. It wanted to live. I got it home, rebuilt the carb and some other needed cleaning and she ran. My first bike, i learned to ride and got my license. Replaced the worn tires, battery, other parts and i rode it for 5yrs before selling it for $2600. The guy that bought it crashed it two weeka later. 😖 Now i have a 2014 Valkhrie..
That bike with the cross that "no body wants" i would LOVE that. green is my fav color and i love the cross on it.
Takes me back. I sold atv and motorcycles for years. Went to NPA in Atlanta many many times.
Hello I have lupus SLE. I began noticing symptoms at the age of 27 if I remember correctly. I loved motorcycles as far back as I can remember. Summer of 1986 I got my first Yamaha MX80. From then until 2009. I've had the pleasure to own several dirt bikes mostly 2 strokes. And several street bikes. After a few years having lupus in my late 20's. On the interstate at riding home on my 2008 Heritage Softail. I suddenly lost my nerves. I was scared out of my mind. Afraid I was going to lay the bike down. Fast forward a few years. I was able to push myself to ride again. I still had to fight with my nerves at times. I stayed on city and back roads. Highways and interstates still scared me. I did finally start riding on Highways again. I had to tell myself I wasn't going to fail over in my mind and got better with time. Unit my ex wife and I started having problems. Down hill again I lost my nerves again. But a few years after the divorce. I started riding dirt bikes and trail riding without any problems. I'm now 45 years old and no bike. I wonder if there's a way to overcome my fears again. A more permanent solution to being afraid and scared. It always a fear of failing to my right side. No one or doctors have been able to help. I've also had chemotherapy several years ago. I don't understand how I was ok for almost three decades. And one night I lost it. I also had a major headache in Chattanooga. Right before we left to ride back home.
I love that you guys love motorcycles, and not just a towards a specific brand name.
Actually the Celtics cross would have been Pretty cool to me. I love old Celtics designs.
Like you scored a cop bike for 700 looks pretty quick and quite
When you yelled "Nooooooo!" through the mic it instantly reminded me of that 1st boss you beat in starfox 64 lol
It's cuz it's actually a different bit that fits in those screws in Japan... Are screwdrivers don't fit guy strip them out because they don't hit it with the hammer first you got to hit it with a hammer to bang it in there and make sure it's tight before you try turning it out... One of my bikes all four of those rude are now fit for a tap ... So you just have to have a tapper and impact driver to bleed my brakes
Those screws are always stripped because they are Japanese standard heads. They look like a Phillips, and a Phillips will fit into it, but it is a different taper. A standard Phillips will not grab them properly, and that causes them to strip.
I really love those triumph rocket 3. They're some bike, bet the tyres can be easily shredded if you open them up. The torque of those motors is huge.
I started riding when I was 6 years old on a Sears mini bike and just went from there. I'm 57 years old disabled but I would love to find an inexpensive bike with a sidecar so I could take my dogs with me
Search Facebook Marketplace daily and you will find something that you can afford.
My dad has 2 Honda CX-500's, which are fantastic bikes.
BTW, the wheel speed sensor usually breaks during a collision.
Really nice bikes u shows on ur videos man i always love them but never think about get the lincese or buy one for me thanks to show me how beautiful they are, i wish i got the money or space to get one for myself, keep it up with the videos, u get a new subscriber
You video gave me good tips on starting my 96 GW trike, which hasn't ran in 5 years... fingers 🤞
To bad you didn't have a cross country journey lined up, that thing looks like it could of gone a good distance
Sub-titles are hilarious - at 7:48" "... I think craig's going to poop through that door right there ..."
I feel like I've seen that bagger with the Celtic cross on the ferring out here in Massachusetts
That's awesome. Ride that thing across the country and go camping. Brilliant.
What a big store motorbike..... good choice of motorbike..
I am watch here for support my friend, everything goes well...👍👍
Missed these videos. The maroon Suzuki from 2 or 3 years ago was one of my favorite videos
I would absolutely love to see more action videos! Keep up the great work guys!
Red Triumph Rocket III, and the Africa twin. Cool video.
Used to have one of those years ago . great running bike . oh btw the areas on the luggage rack are for the rear speakers
When I was a mechanic at a Honda kawasaki dealership back around 2000 I once test rode an almost identical Voyager. The cruise worked and I couldn't resist. I set it at 70 and thought how cool this was then I took my hands off the bars and the most violent handshake I have ever seen occurred. I somehow fought it back under control with the help of god no doubt and I never wanted to see that bike again. Maybe the cruise didn't work by devine intervention.
I have one of these it’s pretty cool and comfy. I make fun of it all the time but it’s a fairly good ride for an old bike.
For 700 quid, you could have done a lot worse, Sean.
I am strangely attracted to those old tanks. Simple tech, robust construction, I suppose.
dude i wish i could get you for a day just to help me find a good first bike. i would have loved this bike
Just recently subbed and love your videos. I just looked you guys up to see where you are. I'm a trucker and I'm in PA right now. Turns out I'm 24 minutes away and I can't come see your spot, aarrgghhh! What are the chances? Great content boys! Outta straight envy I will say what glorious beards you have😕🤣😂
Why does Craig drive a ridgeline?
Those Honda Goldwings must be no joke. Shadetree Surgeon has two old ones he paid very little for and he's riding them in like every video. Both are from the 80's I think.
this is actually a voyager
@@BikesandBeards My mistake. From most of the angles it was screaming Goldwing at me. 😆
And I was proud to put 3k on my drz since March. 4k on an r1 in that short of time sounds like hell on the back.
If you put the right parts on the Honda dno1 you have a mini redbird aka robins bike
p.s. Voyager XII had stereo remote ctrl for passenger - kewl.
That's cool that you've traded stuff for a bike before. I have something to traid. I've never owned a bike before.
Wow... You just walked past the most sweetest looking BMW cafe racer I have ever seen with front visor... just sitting aside R1M
I still have, and ride, a bike I got for about 250 bucks (180 plus repair costs). 2 years on the road now lol
I used to work on the hvac in that building
Noooo! I got ripped off!
2 seconds later,
Noooo! I got ripped off
The Honda DNO 1 Is kinda Fire not goona lie
That bike was referred to by dealers as DO NOT ORDER 1.
I"ve a buell xbs 1200 lightening long, love to see it
Love the Rocket bike behind you during the keeps ad. I bet Jeff Bezos would be sweating bullets if he saw that rocket. 💥🚀🛰🤭
The auctioneer is definitely not PC 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
My neighbor has a late 80's Sportster 883 with Velorex sidecar.
Dad of three never had a bike an have feel in love with motorcycles watchin ya shows what should I try for really want a harley don't really matter about the size had some bad habbits after my dad od an now tryin to live right an ride a bike got a Bible now I need a bike what size should I start with
Reminds me of Prince's "Purple Rain" movie motorcycle for some reason
Can you do an episode for big guys looking for a bike? Im 6'5 1/2 and around 380
You thinknsome of these bikes are bad? I'd love to see you review my 2007 vstrom I got into a wreck with and broke my spine. Bike is naked, no anything, bent forks, no radiator mounts. Exhaust manifold is bent in half. But it rides strong. I daily it.
wow that auction house has more bikes than all the bike dealers in South Africa 🇿🇦......
ill take that Africa twin to go along with my halfrica twin (cb500x, which i also love to call the NightHawk X)
The guy speaking over the mic probably speaks faster than eminem himself
God is Good Always?
Yes he is ! He got run off out of PA! Haha
The cruse does not work unless the spedo works.
I bought this same bike with stock tape deck radio. original paint job with top boxes reinforced with cable.fired up and drove home for $400 😂
love this superlow with a sidecar :D I think its great
Glad you like it!
The smell in that place must be absolutely glorious
Thanks for the text!
❤ from your cross eyed best bud!
The bike is a absolute 💎 👍👍
ok this is an old video but the cruise control will not work if the speedometer is not working as it uses the calibration to set it's self.
I thought I'd see a few bikes when you walked in, not hundreds !!
I love to flip Bikes! Buy the broken, fix em, sell em for a profit!!
I love the keychain
I love my Buells, great bikes
Today is my bday.. some of you may say it is my day.. but not today.. i had a friend who died today on his yamaha wr125x.. not on this day 6 years ago or something like that no.. but today just a cuple hours ago.. so please guys be careful on the road.. may he rest in peace🕊
I used to sell motorcycles at Stubbs in Houston. Would LOVE to learn what you guys know. I live in Japan. Maybe we can educate me and I can find some exporters?
Awesome bike!
Love the DN-01 if it's the DCT model
R1m is my favorite bike or the buell lightning there, r1 is just a bit too much for me
Edit: got a glimpse of the Ducati, favorite sport bike right there
Just set it, and forget it! 🏍️
I ride a Buell Ulysses. I want that Lightning!!!!!!!
Wanted that RED victory crossroad
Still have maintained your humor. At first I thought you were buying a Honda Interstate. After I saw the engine, I realized, nope it's a Kawasaki. The Kawasaki Voyagers are good bikes.
I was I could!!! :(
I have no way to get to you and I love the older touring bikes.
I would love to learn how to ride!!!!
Long time no Caleb!!!
Wow calib slimmed down
Eminem finally gonna get a run for his money by the auctioneer.
I just bought myself a clean 81 cb650
I'll trade you some local food & beer (southwest michigan) for a side car if you ever pick one up.
Jason Miller the auctioneer!!
Almost tempted to trade my ‘06 Shadow 600 chopper
Trying to set the cruise control does not work, few minutes later, the speedo does not work. Seems kind of logical that cruise control does not work if it has no signal.
You should start selling bikes to followers.. I would love to buy one of the bikes you have fixed up
2015 Yamaha Bolt, no neutral light, start button not working, bypassed switch and got it to turn over, but HELP
