  • Custom Opae'ula aquarium made from a 30 liter pyrex glass laboratory flask. The aquascape is fashioned from black lava rock with pieces glued together with Acrylic resin and 2 part epoxy putty made for aquariums. Most parts where sourced from ebay online dealers. These flask are very expensive but do come up for sale very inexpensively on ebay. Just to give you an idea the retail on my flask is $700. Mine cost around $75 however shipping was $80. You have to be patient for the deals but you will eventually see them. The epoxy putty brand to get is Epo putty. Very good stuff for fastening lava rock together and adhering it to glass. Black Hawaiian gravel is available on ebay along with black lava rock from Arizona. The tube worm shells sourced from an online retailer along with some brain coral. I also used Biorb ceramic substrate for the bottom gravel surrounding the aquascape. Pump filtration system is an Ehein 2032 Ecco Pro external canister filter. Water heater is an Jager-Eheim 50watt. See part 2 for more of this aquarium build coming shortly.
