The History of Sausage Party: A Nightmare for Animators (and Food)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 лип 2024
- Sausage Party is one of the rare mainstream R-rated animated movies in history. But this is not about how Seth Rogen made cartoon characters get horny and say swear words. This is a dark story about the nightmare that animators endured during its production history and how this is not just a problem with Sausage Party, but how this is still going on in the entire animation industry.

Thank you Seth Rogan for setting a new standard for the industry with TMNT Mutant Mayhem. Also, thank you Illumination, you might not make the best movies but the fact you go out of your way to defend animators, unions, and vilify those who use AI as an alternative to paying a human artist makes me respect you as a company.
And you could even thank Chris miller for not allowing AI used for Beyond the Spider-Verse
Well, I guess that's one way how Illumination could keep rising. Besides, I think they don't make THE best movies, but their work is most definitely not bad, I'd say.
@@davidhileman8567 I'll always have a personal soft spot for Illumination.
@@BigLightning4360 Yeah. Maybe it's its animation style. It definitely shows its "style reconnaissable de la Français", if you know what I mean (mainly because the animation studio is actually based in France, smack in the capital city, Paris! In fact, it's just a few blocks away from the Eiffel Tower!)
F Seth Rogen! pure hack IMO!
nothing Nick has done for TMNT has been good for the brand...I get the need to rope in the current kids but they're doing nothing for older fans, even the live action movies were a slap in the face....at this point there's only 1 TMNT movie and it released in 1990! had a great cast and an awesome story, a good OST and great score....Elias Koteas is a particular standout in the movie and played an even better Casey Jones than in the animated show
there exists a possibility for the whatever crap Nich does for the new shows but there should also be more teenage to adult oriented shows on CN or HBO something or just straight to DVD/BRD movies....that CGI TMNT movie in the 00's was actually pretty good, if they did more of that on the side there wouldn't be much issue cus we'd know okay the kids have their shows but we also get something we like?? but no such luck there....
also realize as an old school fan that 20004? show was phenomenally awesome...good ninja action, the turtles grow as characters and while it might go a little nuts at the end it was still a good show and a good upgrade from the 80's series, I think my one issue was the theme song was eh lol I wouldn't expect em to redo the old theme but also IDK what else they coulda done lol
i look at any production that has Seth Rogen in it or Jack Black or any of those guys and I just say hellz no!
It’s really sad and heartbreaking to hear that Lord & Miller mistreat their animators, but it’s also very important to be reminded that the next time when bad apples created a toxic work environment and to call them out for their wrong doings. We can call still enjoy our favorite shows and movies, but it’s very important to call out companies and people if the things they’re doing is unacceptable. Your video is an excellent example of how we can share our love to our favorite projects by giving support to artists, VAs and animators, they’re the real stars compared to people like Lord & Miller.
Plus they’re not John K level bad.
@@austinreed7343 I was just thinking that!!!!
Exactly it’s just freaking deplorable What Phil Lord and Chris Miller did.
Lord and Miller are not gonna be seeing the pearly gates
@@KaminoKatie Lord needs to learn when to fully make up your mind when finishing a story, before having the animators animated the scenes. Especially when making for an ambitious project like Spiderman.
The Sausage Party is probably one of the most divisive animated movie out there, I really wish we get adult CGI animated movies with a more mature and serious tone than ones with cringy and unfunny humor in it.
I agree. I'm on the side that likes it. Largely because I hope it would start a mainstream trend of adult animated films. At best, the modern film I could think of is kinda Across The Spider Verse.
Thicc lady was a stand out none the less.
@@thedecidueyeguy9146 While I like the movie, I agree with you. I want to see more theatrical adult animated features that focuses on good storytelling and engagement instead of “it’s funny cause they say f*ck”
@@greshaminc156
Even TV has that problem. 90% of them are “cartoon say F”, and even the good ones tend to be like that.
@@greshaminc156 I kind of wanted to make an adaptation of Mark Millar's infamous horror comedy comic The Unfunnies if I ever get into filmmaking and animation as a response to Sausage Party. If you know about The Unfunnies, you're probably wondering "Why that of all comics!? Especially since the series was so infamous and horrid that Mark refuses to acknowledge its existence, even removing it from his bibliography on his website." For multiple reasons. 1: Adaptations of Mark Millar's comics like Kick-Ass and Wanted are much more lighthearted and less edgy than the comics they're based on (though Wanted was much more loose and completely removes anything related to superheroes/supervillains), and it seemed like it would be natural to do the same with The Unfunnies... to an extent. Which leads me to my next reason, 2: I think it has an intriguing premise that would be perfect for satire and horror (a comic strip world that becomes more and more "adult" thanks to its cartoonist who tries to escape death row through a satanic ritual and using a character under his control). I could do my own take on it and maybe use it as satire for certain children's media turning into bad adult spinoffs or just to critique how shallow bad adult animation is, while still using it for surreal horror. In my version, unlike Sausage Party, the movie stays completely innocent without a single sex joke or swear word until it progresses as a result of this corruption in order to make it more shocking and effective. The cartoonist (who's named Troy Hicks btw. I feel ashamed to share his first name), uses a penguin named Frosty Pete as his avatar (as opposed to being a character under his control in the comic), and this is all a complete mystery until the ending. Once someone dies for the first time, it's played completely straight and incredibly significant because death never existed in their world before. Pete slowly corrupts everything by teaching characters swear words, drugs (obvious drug dealer metaphor), sex, etc., until eventually the entire town/world is nothing but sex and violence like The Purge and the final act of _mother!_ (one of my favorite horror films of all time btw), with only a few characters left who aren't affected. The graphic content, while it's still dark, removes a lot of stuff from the comic like pedophilia, rape and some other stuff that I think would be too far, especially since the book only used these for shock value and nothing more. In hindsight, I also want the animation to be reminiscent of Fritz the Cat while still keeping some of the comic strip art style. The horror aspect would obviously be from this innocent cartoon world for children being corrupted into hellscape, and even the satanic imagery near the end would also startle or make people uncomfortable because it comes out of nowhere until the twist. I would also have an extended battle scene with Frosty Pete which would also use another horror aspect once his body is destroyed, a sudden mix of live action humans and realistic CGI abominations (with even a jumpscare where the characters, and by extension the camera, are looking into Pete's husk of a costume-like body in the dark black abyss only for a live action, human arm drenched in blood to lunge at the camera). Troy Hicks made some live action appearances in the comic with even a live action view of the prison, but I wanted to take full advantage of this for horror since it freaks me out ever since I was a kid (shows where that's part of the style like Gumball (or if you want an adult example, Smiling Friends), don't count. I mean shows that are 2D only to change to a different style out of nowhere at very rare moments). Essentially being inspired by Omega Flowey, as well as Courage The Cowardly Dog and certain moments from Spongebob (only the former show used it for genuine horror while the latter used it for laughs, with varying results, sometimes even traumatizing me). The film would also have a more happy ending compared to the comic. Essentially, my idea for a film based on The Unfunnies is like Sausage Party but if it was good and also a horror film.
It’s a good thing Annapurna pictures learned from this and made their own animation division by hiring former blue sky studios employees and saving Nimona.
and co releasing Nimona with Netflix.
And Seth Rogan learned from this mistake by hiring nicer people to work on the animated shows and movies like Invincible for Amazon and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem for Paramount
God bless that studio
God, i love redemption stories...let's hope SONY and Phil Lord & Christopher Miller learn something from it as well
Failure can be a teacher
That Prowler sound for the intro to the Lord-Miller part was so perfect
Their bums are not seeing the pearly gates for what they've done
While I enjoy Sausage Party for the comedy, expressive character animation, and clever story. I still feel sorry for how the animators and artists at nitrogen were treated. A lot of concept arts of the world building and characters were done by talented artists, and same with the character animation too. Only that their names were unfortunately cut off and were worked overtime! It’s not just a problem with the production, but it’s also a reminder to future animators who want to get a job in the industry. Make sure to give support to the animators and artists, and find the right place where the work environment isn’t toxic. I think the comparison to Lord and Miller with Greg Tiernan was pretty strong and effective, since it shows how the three doesn’t understand how animated films work. Even for TV animation outsourced in other nations, it’s sad that most animators in Korea, Japan, Canada, and China don’t get that much credit too because of toxic work too. Give those animators support too. I’m really hoping that the animation guild will much stronger in the future, so we’ll be able to have fair payments and support!
I think the comparison with Lord & Miller doesn’t work. For one, they know how animation works. They’ve been working mostly on animated projects since their start on Clone High, and most of their movies have been nothing but animated films. They’re involved with the story, animation, and so on, that saying they don’t know how animation works is a bit ridiculous. The real issue is that they’re overly ambitious, which caused a few hundred animators out of the 1000 or even 500 animators to quit the film, because of how ambitious their films are, which caused the minority of animators to get stressed. If Lord & Miller can’t scale their ambitions down, then there’s no point in making an animated project without trimming down their ambitions… if that makes any sense, which it probably doesn’t.
Seth Rogen on the other hand, only recently got into animation. Prior to Sausage Party, Rogen’s experience into animation was mainly voice acting such as voicing Mantis in the first three Kung Fu Panda movies, as well as voicing B.O.B. In Monsters Vs Aliens. Other then voice acting, he had no prior knowledge when working on Sausage Party, which I’m guessing is how the movie became a train wreck it is because of his involvement in it. Fortunately, as the years have gone on since Rogen’s first animated movie that he was involved in working on, he has since gained more knowledge & experience when working on animated projects such as Invincible or last year’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. So he’s definitely on the right track on becoming a good animation filmmaker or animation tv producer… but comparing him to Lord & Miller is like comparing cheese to potatoes.
While last year’s Lord & Miller’s controversy was… controversial. Because of the fact that they’re experienced animation veterans, its a new brainer they would spark a new controversy that’s bad eventually. After all, we all know what happened with John Lassiter, or whatever internet scheme Butch Hartman has cooked up, and don’t get me started with what Pete Docter recently said. However, with Seth Rogen recently becoming a major player in the superhero & comic book adaptions, it’s clear Seth could be able to avoid the usual animation veteran’s curse in creating a stupid or crazy decision that’ll affect their next work or even their career, due to him being an experienced comedian, actor, writer, producer, rather then being an experienced tv & movie producer, writer, or director.
So while I do think comparing three guys is not a very strong & effective comparison… I will say that Seth’s able to move away from what Lord & Miller’s situations they’ll have, as he’s recently getting into animation (not just as an actor voicing characters in animated projects, but also involved as a writer, or even a producer.)
As someone who dreams to become an artist and game developer, I don’t approve of the whole idea of AI replacing humans.
Nor do I (the latter, that is)
Hayao Miyazaki predicted AI back in 2016 and I'm not sure if he was the first person to know about this.
@@BigLightning4360 I feel hostility towards him because of that to be truthful (Not defending AI it’s because of something else) and that’s mainly because of me being a 3D Lover and excited of being a 3D Artist and Animator (especially in this current and onward due to this and onward artistic freedom and complexity).
Holy sh;t! This entire story, not only about the horrifyingly dark production of sausage party, but also with how it’s a serious problem in the animation industry, makes Sausage Party itself look G or PG-rated (at least by comparison). As for the whole idea of unionization of animation studios, I initially was for it for the sake of artists having protection against AI, and although I am still for that notion, this gave me a serious wake-up call and gives me further reason why I should support it.
Yeah I thought we going to be talking about just the production of sausage party and its problems but, WHAT A TWIST it turned into a PSA about the industry right now (along with the sausage party part)

I find it interesting that Greg Teirnan and Conrad Vernon went from having a praised animated film with Sausage Party to bad animated films with the Addams Family films and this simultaneously at the same time when stories of Greg Tiernan’s abuse of the animators on SP finally came out. It’s like Greg’s fame was short-lived.
Eventually, his time was shot down after Adams family 2 became a failure both in theaters and streaming. Makes sense that Amazon MGM studios moved on and as of 2024, never made any more animated films
@@danielgudinojuarez6729his fame was short lived as much as he was a animation director. I didn't hate those animated Addams family movies but they're nothing really special yet MGM not making any more of them is a good move for a better animated project later.

Which animator’s comment did you read over?
Thinking about it too, even voice actors are not being treated nicely either.
One example is with GLITCH and SMG4. Celeste Notley-Smith have been one of the many supporting actress from GLITCH with her voice works of Tari from Meta Runner and SMG4.
So, as a thanks, they fired her and replace her with a another actress without addressing that particular situation and leave it up to die-hard fans to silence people from bringing up their massive flaw from the indie industry. Considering that they have yet to address this and how massive they are, I would expect the same going towards the main studios as well.
Sorry for the ramble, I just wanna give out my piece of the pie! Good work Animat!
To also clarify, I don't hate GLITCH. I do like their works. I just find their decision suck and can lead to potential harm towards an industry that I love so dear.
You can appreciate their work, but not forget their mistakes.
Adult Swim also has a infamous reputation of how they've treated their voice actors on their shows. I recommend watching Matt Cantu's video on it.
Actually got a story in relation to this in terms of behaviour (kinda). I was at the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse show in London. While it was fantastic, there was some slightly annoying people on the side of me. They were taking pictures with flash on and texting while the show was going on (keep in mind the venue went pretty dark once it started). Turns out these guys were old high school friends of Phil Lord and now their obnoxious behaviour makes sense 🙄
putting the Prowler theme for Phil Lord and Chris Miller's names was a stroke of genius!!!!
Man, I am quite shocked to hear this. I always saw Phil Lord & Chris Miller as the guys who were saving animation, but ironically they also caused a lot of stress and problems as well.
They’re still saving animation by comparision to the others. It’s the lesser of two evils, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, and so on.

@@alienboy1322 don’t worry, they’re not. I heard they actually treat the animators well in Annapurna animation.
I agree. I adore the Spider-Verse films a lot, I would even go as far and consider them my favorite non Disney animated films. Heck, I am not lying when I say that currently my most anticipated movie of all time is Beyond! But will all that said, it doesn’t excuse the toxic working environment that Lord and Miller have been causing with not just the Spider Verse films, but all the animated films they were in charge of.
Spiderverse fans are some of the most insufferable fans in the animation community so I'm not at all surprised they turned a blind eye to the animators being mistreated because "who cares we still got some overly flashy animation to cover that up!"
It makes more sense why they kept delaying the release date
I really want an adult animated movie where it’s basically Teen Titans/Invincible meets Who Framed Roger Rabbit, where it’s a Cartoon Crossover between Partmount and Warner Bros. Animated shows about corporate greed and heroic kids and teenagers characters are the main characters in the movie.

I think we need to talk about how Pixel fucking has gone into mainstream animated features with spiderverse 2 now. Pixel fucking is a vfx term referring to when clients of vfx houses demand constant changes and force them to work on many scenes only for them to throw them out and they redo it over and they scrunatixe over the most minor of details. An anonymous VFX artist explained to Chris Lee at Vulture, “That’s a term we use in the industry when the client will nitpick every little pixel.”7 This term has been in the industry since Marvel’s earliest projects. The artist describes when they first heard the term used as a verb, “I remember going to a presentation by one of the other VFX houses about an early MCU movie, and people were talking about how they were getting ‘pixel-fucked.’” The issue isn’t just about naive, CGI-inexperienced directors over criticizing these artists’ work. Pixel-fucking is the latest and trendiest labor malpractice resulting from economic profit-maximizing and advantageous price gouging of un-unionized, vulnerable VFX studios. Marvel and its parent company Disney continue to commit labor crimes; only this time, casual audiences suffer the consequences and lay as witnesses. H describes that “Almost every studio had some sort of cry room where people will just go into and cry for ten minutes, and then they come back out and do their job.”15 The intense pressure enforced by these strict deadlines makes the work environment intense and mentally exhausting. Most VFX artists cite passion as the reason they entered the field, with a love for animation, storytelling, and cool fight scenes. If we’re being honest, most VFX artists are really big nerds, entering projects -- and the industry--with enthusiasm. However, that enthusiasm quickly disappears once the rigor and the unpredictability of the directors’ needs begin to increase the amount of useless work. VFX studios get paid per project; thus, artists get paid per project; thus, the bid allows an infrastructural refusal to pay workers overtime or enough wages to complete a project.

Us animators deserve better.
The fact that Concord played the R-rated preview on the showing of Finding Dory is straight up bananas. 😅
That’s hilarious
No pun intended, right?
I hope the animators and artists of visual effects will get better treatment and union for the best of everyone their well-being and skills, and after watching the video, I looked up how sad they received nothing of much value of work during the production of animated and live-action movies.
I love movies, and they need to give the support to keep bringing these projects to life.
100% there
40:40 you forgot about Laika studios. They also still make their movies in house as well.
Mat, if your mission is to raise awareness about the toxic environment in Hollywood, then this video is a good start. This type of practice in the industry should not be accepted (nor should it ever have been), because like you said, if not for artists and animators, we wouldn’t have any animated content to begin with.
As an aspiring animator myself, I want to ensure that the environment I (and my colleagues) work in is both safe and respectful. The stories I have heard about this toxicity have not discouraged me from my passion, but things in the system have to change if I’m going to pursue that.
It’s stories like these that make me question why our society puts money above all else (not just with art, but with our wellbeing). But I do believe there are ways to lower costs without making people suffer, and I would like to contribute to that.
I have reached out to many anonymous animators across the internet that have worked on some of my favorite shows, and (at least with those who did respond) I can tell that they are passionate in what they do.
Overall, let’s hope more animators can get more respect and appreciation they deserve ✊🏻

This is such an interesting take on how a history of one movie can actually highlight certain problems that still happen in animation history today. Also, Sony Pictures Imageworks moved to Vancouver in 2014. It was in Culver City, before opening a studio in Vancouver in 2010, just so you know.
I don’t care what anyone says about sausage party but i fucking love it!!
It’s very rare to see an R rated animated feature film in theaters, it’s a bit of a breath of fresh air from the caotic animated kiddie movies of today
Also that thing about protesting, i feel like the cast members at the disney parks need to do something like that
The thing is it's not so different from other adult animated in the west with it's fixation on violence and sex over a mature narrative.
We need an animation guild to go on strike right now and Phil lord needs to stop blocking people on twitter for posting links to overworking their animators, no ai, stop saying that animation is “for kids excuse”, (that means you too UA-cam) stop COPPA, better working conditions, and stop milking sequels bone dry and more original movies instead of sequels, etc
I can't wait to support the animation guild when they are strike cause the entertainment industry right now is getting Ridiculous right now
@@DanielLave25280we need to mention UA-cam to stop coppa
@@Mariofanaticanimations Yeah I heard about the COPPA thing but sadly we can't stop UA-cam being part of COPPA
But yeah hope we both agree that the animators go on strike
@@DanielLave25280 but UA-cam has to be sued for coppa even when I see adult oriented videos labeled for kids
@@Mariofanaticanimations Yeah I heard about that slip up but I don't how we can sue them for this
It could be just a massive bug in the system I guess
Now we need to get the animators guild to cover the whole world.
I have to say you went DEEP in researching for this video. What happened behind the scenes is unfortunately a common practice in the industry and I seriously hope the animators get more respect than before and the companies know that their employees are more valueable than money
What I found shocking was several actors from "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" was in this film...
Vincent tong and I think Sam Vincent. But that's all I can know of
Kid Danger: *wearing his mighty pup movie outfit* if I remember correctly, i did seen it on social media about "Sausage Party". And my Princess Luna was it BAD!

Don't mind me, just placing a bookmark for Animat acknowledging Thomas & Friends.
I never understand why Phil Lord and Chris Miller don't practice what they preach 🙄
Next for April fools day you should do “comic book look back:frank miller”
It's funny that the phrase "separate the art from the artist" is being used when that's kind of the problem. We're not talking enough about the animators and such who actually build the movies we love. If anything, we should integrate the art with the real artists.
This is honestly your best video I’ve seen from you in a very long time. Major props, dude!
I wish the Animation Guild a very “go on strike” thus summer.
Just in time for the miniseries coming to Amazon Prime Video this month.
"Sausage Party" was pretty amusing from what I remember, but it's also awful knowing how the film's animators were treated. Same goes for various other animated productions that also suffer those kinds of issues. I just hope the artists and animators in the industry will receive much better treatment in the near future.
Separating the art from the artist is such a great way to view the things you enjoy as well as the creators. Don’t let anyone tell you that you have to never like X show because Y creator did Z. If it brings you joy, that’s ok and you’re not a monster for doing so.
Looking forward to your next history video on "Fixed" whenever that comes out
God! I remember back in the day when this movie came out, and how it was seen as a very big deal for animated films at the time. Back in the mid 2010s most animated movies had pretty much the same wacky style and the same sense of humour, and when sausage party came out it was seen as a “revolution” for animation. But nowadays I can definitely see why it’s not looked at fondly, both behind the scenes with the treatment of the animators and with the film itself. Also fun or in this case not so fun fact: the people who worked on this movie also did the animation for the CGI series of Thomas The Tank Engine, let that sink in. Animators should definitely deserve more support for the work they do for more modern animated features, coming from someone who has worked on a couple of independent animation projects in the past, I can tell you that it certainly is no walk in the park. it makes me very happy with the unions and The Animation Guild advocating for animators to get the respect and credit that they deserve.
After going through an exhausting 10-hour drive from Austin, it’s nice to be back home relaxing and watching a new editorial video!😸
Thank you for addressing not just Sausage Party’s production history & the mistreatment of their animators, but also what happened with Spiderverse, the bigger picture within the animation industry, and most important of all, just giving your support for all artists & animators!
I’ll say it now, this video is one of your best!🧡🌭💙
(See, Chris Stuckmann! This is what your Madame Web video should’ve been like!😒)
I don’t know which is worse, a 2016 sausage party or a 2012 food fight?
Food Fight
@BigLightning4360
Food Fight is objectively bad. I'm could be saying this because I never watched it. And I'm biased to Seth Rogen.
@@alienboy1322not to mention the guy behind food fight literally had no idea what he was doing when food fight was being created
Gotta love the metaphorical comparison. XD

I'd love to see more R-rated animated films, similar to Sausage Party. But not at the expense of the artists/animators...
Yeah agree I think we need more R-rated animated films than just one every like few years or so cause We always get stuff for Families

I really do enjoyed Lord and Miller works but way Phil Lord treated the animators in these toxic conditions is totally messed up
I guess Phil went to his inner Scudworth and not in a good way at all.
Douche: “Aright, poor the tea!”
Once you finish this video....it'll f*ck you up for life!
Good luck 😘
Just like the movie and the horror Stories of working in this industry.
If the production of "Sausage Party" was this much of a nightmare because of Greg Tiernan, I can only imagine how the production of Seasons 13 through 16 of "Thomas & Friends" at Nitrogen Studios was like under Greg's control while also trying to meet the deadline of a new season and hour-long special every year by Thomas' former brand owners HIT Entertainment.
Sausage Party: Foodtopia's rabid anti-capitalist moral makes way too much sense now.
I am so glad that is video was made, now it explains everything. I love Spider Verse and I appreciate for what it is artistically. Like any industry, the animation industry is not exempt from having crooks and greedy people who are full of themselves. I give credit to the artists who truly did the work they are the real stars.
One of your best videos Dragon dude! Love a good history lesson! Those of us who adore this genre must reckon with the true costs of rushed productions, the people that fall through the cracks, and the employees that are outright exploited and not even credited. Love your thorough research and work. Keep it up, bro
You said it.
They actually put detail in everyone’s teeth to make them different. That’s not something I often see in animated projects and the fact that the animators were put through hell to get that makes me sad.
I've said this a million times before, but it always confused me that, despite this film being a success at the box office, it never started a renaissance of adult animated films in theaters. Yeah, the movie wasn't good, but it was a hit at the box office, and at that time films like Deadpool and It were successes, basically reminding Hollywood that R-rated movies can be just as profitable as PG-13 films. I thought it would do what Fritz the Cat did in 1972 for adult animation, but nothing happened (obviously Sausage Party was no Fritz the Cat. Even the social commentary when comparing it to Fritz the Cat is incredibly shallow, overdone, obvious and immature. Update: I just realized that when it comes to comparing the content, it's a bit like with The Happytime Murders when comparing it to Meet the Feebles where they're nowhere near as graphic as their predecessors. But that's to be expected since both films were going for an R-rating while Fritz the Cat and Meet the Feebles, which were both indie films, tried to push the limit as far as possible to intentionally get an X rating since they were ahead of their times). It wasn't helping that people just forgot about the film and never really spoke of it again. We've been having an adult animated renaissance in television and the internet, but never theaters. Ralph Bakshi was interviewed by Indiewire in the leadup to the film's release about his thoughts on the movie coming out. While he didn't talk about his opinion of the film from the trailers, he did say that it was a long time coming for a theatrical adult animated film to be made again. It was also kind of funny when he said that due to the changing climate, the movie wouldn't be a success at the box office today, only for it to be a box office success afterwards anyways.
I literally never thought about how Pixar gives everything feelings and personality! 😂❤ 2:46

@@Zebra_fandomfella03 that make sense now. Thanks
Considering that a big ton of animators are always getting mistreated since animation even started… it’s very clear Hollywood has this weird social class mindset when it comes to animation studios, where the big animators who are responsible for creating characters, concepts, and even the whole premise of a show or a pitch of a movie, get special treatment and treated with respect (Or disrespect if they become controversy), but not for the other animations who also worked hard on an animation project, and they act like the little guys while getting names shown in the post credits.
I think with how we had 2 writer’s strikes, and then last year we had an actor’s strike… I think it’s time for an animator’s strike.
Crazy that the guy who made Sausage Party is from Dublin just like me. I’m telling ya, we Irish are the kings of cursing. And also I still can’t believe people are still treating animation like it’s for kids 8 years later.
I mean it not as bad as How Phil and Chris treat there animators

They say that money is the root of all evil. Well they are right. Profits are causing problems in the industry and because of that, the animators and artists are suffering at the hands of those evil higher ups. We should start our own indie studios with ethical business practices and put artistic value over profits.

What about a movie review on an indie 3d animated movie from ShoutTV called A Monster in Paris ?!
I kind of wanted to make an adaptation of Mark Millar's infamous, horror comedy comic The Unfunnies if I ever get into animation or filmmaking as a response to Sausage Party. If you know about The Unfunnies, you're probably wondering "Why that of all comics!? Especially since the series was so infamous and horrid that Mark refuses to acknowledge its existence, even removing it from his bibliography on his website." For multiple reasons, 1: Adaptations of Mark Millar's comics like Kick-Ass and Wanted are much more lighthearted and less edgy than the comics they're based on (though Wanted was much more loose and completely removes anything related to superheroes/supervillains), and it seemed like it would be natural to do the same with The Unfunnies... to an extent.
I often watch this movie on Netflix before bed and I’m not ashamed to admit that I find it pretty funny and entertaining
The only thing that IS shameful is that the animators had to suffer through so much just to make the movie
(Not pointing fingers here, just hoping things can change for the better)
Before Sausage Party, 3:18 there was the Annoying Orange (which had some pretty shocking death scenes, especially when it comes to the knife scenes)
And then there's another computer-animated film where it does takes place in a grocery store, but due to mismanagement and production troubles, it ended up becoming one of the worst animated features ever. And everyone moved on and pretended that it never happened.
