      TEXAS COUNTRY BOY And if you notice that 50 mumbles when he raps or talks. Its cuz he got shot in the mouth. You would even hear him say that in the beginning of the song. If you heard his songs before he got big and signed with Dre’s new label, Aftermath Entertainment in 2002, his voice sounds normal. So him talking about getting shot wasn’t just storytelling. It was for real, for real.

    The video was dramatized, but the story was very real. He used to be a drug dealer and was shot 9 times for real, and lived to tell the tale. He was rapping before hand but him surviving the shooting definitely helped catapult him. His debut album ended up going Diamond

  • @AlokSomani
    @AlokSomani 5 років тому +6

    50 Cent's situation was for real. He was a hustler before he became known as a rapper. But the reports say he was targeted and shot 9 times (once in the mouth, which contributes to the way he raps/speaks) because of a song he made in which he reveals a little too much about a drug/gang kingpin from the area.

    As someone who grew up in the ghettos of Indianapolis (a relatively small city by comparison to NY), this is absolutely how it is. There are always power struggles going on in the hood. When people are living 1 bad day away from having their lights shut off, their kids starving, they do desperate things. Drug dealers get a lot of heat from the public, but most didn't start out with bad intentions. They just didn't want to see their families crumble and were out of other options.
    50 Cent is one of the high profile glimpses into that life. He was one of the lucky ones that survived. He got hit by a rival who was trying to make a statement, survived, and I have no doubt he had a hand in the payback that came later.

    Park Hill, Denver Colorado is where I stay. To answer your question, these types of occurrences happen every day and will continue to happen. Some of them can happen in a split second and others can span out to last for several months to even years (based on the matter.) For your understanding, 50 Cent puts the details and words into a very comprehensive manner for people to comprehend his story.

    If you're ever curious what particular lyrics mean, there's a good website called Genius that has annotated lyrics. It's a pretty good source on the background for some of the references. His description of what happened is basically a true story of what happened to him in Queens. He got shot up and the guys that did it ended up dead. Gang, rap and drugs all go together in the hood, especially at the time period we're talking. Look into BMF for more info, that was basically a drug cartel that invested in music and had a stable of popular rappers.

    This is always the case everywhere, even every suburb has pockets of this type of Lifestyle and the suburbs are usually worse because there are less people to tell them "No".
    But obviously you have to be a willing participant to partake and be a part of it.
    There is a video on youtube of a British cop that went undercover and he said that there is no way to stop these people and arresting people only makes the problem worse, because other gangs get stronger, during the incarceration of rival gang members..

    This is real. Come to Northeast DC and see it for yourself. The hood is no joke. Rap and hiphop is just a way of talking about the struggles we face every day. That's why we listen to it.

    Im from Baltimore and it is frl frl like this. I've got caught up in shit and had guns pulled on me at only 14. Never been shot or shot at tho. Thank God. I hear gun shots at 2 am and even 2 pm. I never know where I'ma be sleeping at. It's hard. And got hustle to get by. But I came here to watch this because of all the stuff happening in America. I wanted to see what a man from the country who doesn't experience or knows what really happens in the ghettos has to say. I have to say mans is hella smart. But yeah it is still like this. I've lost my niggas to this shit nd they was all under 16. It's sad. But always keep ya head up people. Ghetto, hood, black, white. No matter where u is from. If you're going through anything always pray for the best nd keep ya head up it'll get better.

    In Cincinnati it goes down all the time. Watch "First 48", my city is on that show all the time. And to quote another rapper name Cam'ron, "Niggas get shot every day, B." That's just how it goes in the hood.
