Way better than Eastenders n'all!
There was a girl like Imelda in the school year below me, disrupted classes for nothing, hated teachers and turned up when she felt like it. She's been to prison numerous times, never worked and has a sister who is even worse. She always reminds me of Imelda.
This was the best era of Grange Hill - some amazing acting in these scenes. I liked the way Mr. Kennedy said, "All the best," after Imelda was finally expelled. He had genuine compassion. She was a bully, and did some awful things, but when you saw her mum's indifference, you could just sense that there was more to her story. She was disturbed, but what did she go through? I was in love with Ziggy and Robbie. I changed my mind a few times about which one was the love of my life. 💝
I like the playlists on your channel, is there anything you have learned about writing that could help you to analyse what gave Grange Hill it`s mystery? I only saw it in the late 80`s and the early stuff feels wierd because I was young and only really started watching in 1986 when I was 9 years old, thanks.
Brilliant acting! I loved this era of Grange Hill.
This was THE best era to be a kid...and this was the best era for Grange Hill too.Seems like only yesterday
Yes, it does but it was a long time ago lol
Totally agree. Loved GH in the 80s 👍
Grange Hill definitively seemed lost in the 90s and totally past its best by the 2000s.
I loved Imelda (Fleur Taylor) back then and still do now. What a beautiful girl she is.
Oh yes she's a darling
@@brianshannon5495 With that mullet?
Imelda reminds me of a girl in the school year below me, always in trouble, had no interest in school and used to square up to teachers. Don't know if it was the parents fault, but she ended up as an unemployable alcoholic and had a younger sister who was just as bad.
I hate bullies as I was bullied by male and female bullies myself, funny how if you finally stnd up to them they sometimes back down.
carl kane So true! Bullies are cowards. I remember standing up to a bully in front of a crowd when I was in 1st year. I never saw her again.
Very true, when i was in 1st year this 3rd year lad picked on me and my mate a bit but my mates sister was in 5th year and knocked him about a bit .He didnt look so hard then beaten up by a girl.Thankfully that was the only bullying i ever had by the other students, couple of teachers picked on me the entire 5 years of secondary school. All bullies are cowards, the majority arent even hard and usually need a few of them to do it.
I'm interested: how exactly do you stand up to them? I know that if you verbally retaliate, they mock, "Oooh, we're getting hard today, are we?" I did once slap a slut's face, and I was lucky to have decent teachers who were on my side. It's sickening the way soppy jerks (years later) try to make me feel like the bad guy, for harbouring "malicious" thoughts & fantasies about the scum!
great programme in its day that tried at least to deal with issues that happened in schools like bullying and drugs.for that it should be commended
Always had a huge crush on Imelda ban in the day! (I was a young teen during her GH tenure...)
^ban = back
Despite the fact the world is in chaos, WW3 and potential global economic meltdown and the rise of the NWO, I have been watching on You tube Grange Hill for the past 3 months which has distracted me from the the conspiracy channels that I watch! On seeing Imelda I wanted someone to build a time machine so i could go back to circa 1986-87 to see her! I
3 years later....those conspiracies no longer seem so far fetched...
You were before your time bro - we've now had the Plandemic
@@bieni78What is your Tinfoil hat made of? Essential Waitrose🥸
@@davidissiah3604 deranged. Its like you can't remember what you posted 5 yrs ago 🤣
Eat crow! World in chaos my arse!
"What are you doing?"
"Nothing."
"Well don't!" LOL!
I believe the acxtress that played Imelda owns an estate agency now, its a real shame they didn't explore her home life. I always felt maybe she was bullied herself at home by a older sibling or even her Mother.
Homes under the hammer
When I watch the last scene I am surprised Imelda's Mum doesn't clip her around the ear, I mean it was the 80s after all.
+Cat AMD When you watch all this stuff it seems no wonder they insist on continuing to 'paddle' in some US states.
The best years of grange Hill x
Guess it depends your age, I liked the early days, say 1978-1982 the best, the years I was at secondary school myself and you can really relate to it as you are going through it.
I was a lot younger but i prefer the 78-82 era too....after 86 GH just got a bit naff and comedic
Once saw that Vince outside Euston station. He was on the back of a bus hanging onto the pole. If he sees this and remembers a bunch of Northern football fans shouting "get the Grange Hill kid" and jumping the barriers I'm sorry. lol.
Thank god she got expelled from Grange Hill
This is how EVERY kid behaved at my school, and the actual bullies were psychopaths, ending up in youth detention centres and then prison. Grange Hill was famous for dialling real life back to cartoon levels.
Well yes, it was a children's programme
Imedla = Zelda from Terrahawks
Imelda plays a real bully but, when you see her at the end when she is expelled she appears weak and beaten. Why dod she behave the way she did, makes you wonder what sort of home the kid came from. Is there a nice Imelda hiding underneath?
I was similar to Imelda at school. I came from strict background but rebelled outside the household.
Ziggy was fab.
I always remember Helen in the Mcdonalds advert "Chicken McNuggets"
Sausage on a fork podcast is a good listen for Grange Hill fans.
Had the biggest crush on her ever. Imelda never bullied anyone that didn't deserve it Ziggy annoying big loud mouth and Ronnie the answer to a question nobody asked who didn't want to slap her.
I'm guessing you were a bully at school as well then. She bullies way more than just those two. She physically and emotionally abuses Helen and George, torments Vince and very nearly blinds Hollo. I don't care how annoying you think Ziggy is, no one deserves to have razor sharp insulation stuffed down the back of their shirt apart from Imelda herself.
I had a crush on Emelda. 🔥
Brilliant upload. :)
I'm not surprised to see Mrs Davis being told by Bridget the Midget that Imelda was going to be expelled.
I agree with you. I was only born in 1985 and never watched this. I prefer 1978 to 1982 with a, couple of episodes from after that that stand out, Jeremy drowning, Zammo on drugs and this girl too
She is an excellent actress - a lot better than most of the others. Shame she wasn't able to develop her career.
Oh my goodness! I loved watching Grange Hill after school every day, but Imelda was a bit before my time! She was one seriously disturbed character!! As someone commented below, nowadays, you would hope teachers would look into all the bad behaviour and realise there was probably something very wrong going on in that child's life to make them behave in such a way!
In my old high school, there were a lot of tough kids, and the occasional pupil would be as out of control as Imelda - it definitely made for scary school days! Let's hope her character got some sort of help eventually!!
I'd prefer to hope such people died early.
6:17 Manhandled by three schoolgirls - Ziggy doesn't realize how lucky he is!
two older pinched my bum in secondary school
A mullet alone is a good enough reason.
The female gripper. And what hair.
Plus how very decent it was for that dark teacher saying "best of luck" despite her problems
"dark teacher" Ha ha. You mean black.
Was this messege written in 1980?
@@slydoll7877 My black uncle called himself dark, so what?
The actor playing that teacher is a veteran actor from Trinidad.
Sad thing is this could so easily happen and does happen in real life, Do you remember Gripper, and Jackie Herring, previous bullies, always in gangs aren't they, they are weak really. People are born perfect so something goea wrong. :(
There was a girl like this in the year below me. She'd walk into a classroom and disrupt it, had no interest in fitting in and eventually they kicked her out in the fifth year. Nothing good came of her as she's been inside four times and sits on the dole getting drunk.
Yes, we get the message! No need to repeat yourself 🙄
Imelda totally deserved being pushed in
Always fantasied about Imelda getting me in a headlock in her grey school jumper, and generally humiliating me!
😅😅😅
😂😂😂😂😂
I have watched clips with gripper in, Imelda and Ziggy class are the first one's I have good memorie's off, yes no one is born bad.
My oldest Sister was the same age as Tucker and them, so thats the era she likes.
She's flipped her lid! Pity Gonch n Ron didn't stay together
I loved Imelda too!
I wouldn't call Imelda a bully but more of an idiot or a nuisance and just a disruptive person in general. However I would call Alice a bully because of the sly way she singled Julie out and also the fact that she conned the teachers at the school into thinking that she was a good girl whereas Imelda showed her true colours in front of everyone. I liked Ziggy, he was a good laugh, and remember his stint on Brookside years later.
elenwashere that Alice was really horrible wasn't she and the other girls joined in.
Who was the kid who had his tie cut?
I think I stopped watching in about 1992, 1986-1987 was the best era.
Yeah the Mum seemed a bit scary and said that the Father isn't interested in Imelda.
i think Imelda really just needed someone to open up ton i feel she had a lot of bad going ons in her life eather she was neglected or abused by her mum dont know but she must have felt the world was against her and rebeled if someone would have sat down and said look you wanna talk im here for you i know your a good kid deep down but this toughness is an act that maybe would have got through to her also see theirs a GH fanfiction place so might do a fanfic on her taming of Imelda
Thats sounds good.
We all had a girl at school who was just like Imelda lol
I wish
Fleur was beautiful in Grange Hill and she still is
Very true
@@kevinprior3549 very untrue
You don't know what beauty is, Scott.
@@bp6329 Eat crow, hater
Wasnt there a character called imelda in brookside who was also a bully? Phil Redmond was defo bullied by a girl with that name when he was younger lol
Also Imelda's classmates were not exactly friendly to her either. Always winding her up, excluding her and making fun of her for seeing a psychologist.
Cat AMD True. Ronnie wasn't all that sweet really. She wound Imelda up on purpose at times. There are touches like that, if you really watch attentively. That's why it's so good - strong characterisation.
Imelda is now an estate agent!
YES!! Fleur!!
She may well do as they have reunions, I bet they are both really nice in real life.
I've worked with kids like Imelda. It's a pity they ended the character in this way, without exploring the reason for her behaviour. It would have been a pretty shocking and courageous storyline if it was revealed that Imelda was being abused, hence the uncontrollable anger. Fortunately, teachers today know to look for underlying reasons for such behaviour, rather than just disciplining and making false assumptions, as almost all teachers did in the past.
My sister was more or less like Imelda. No abuse, nothing. Some people are just born bitches.
TheKardiacKid lolz
Abused , she might of just been a little bastard ffs
There are a few, but there are FAR more cases in which there is an underlying reason for it.
This was the mid 80’s when children like her was just classed as naughty kids
'A little disturbed' Imagine saying that now 🤣🤣
🤣🤣
I guess you could say, school was awful in those days.
Little cow. Played really well. I actually fancied Helen so was pleased when she redeemed herself from Imelda.
Can anyone remind me what she put down Ziggy's back? I can't remember.
Ziggy starts to scream well before Imelda put the fiberglass down his back. 6:20
What number of an episode was It @ 4:07?
Imeida Looks Like Brenda Linda Blair From Savage Streets
Didn't Gripper have a sister called Emma who appeared in a couple of Eps?
Cat AMD
Yes he did
Yeah I remember I think the bullied gorl was called Julie and one of her Bully's was called Alice, Imelda and Ziggy were just as bad as each other infact Ziggy quite often went out of his way to wind Imelda up.
He was a gobshite, she was a psychopath
THe actress who played her is gorgeous! Fleur Taylor Errmmm
Is that teacher at 2.25 not Morty in Layer Cake.
No,
Is it wrong to say that I found Imelda just a bit fanciable when I was a kid? And Georgina was a stone fox.
dunebasher1971 It’s because she was a bad girl.
Pity one of the lads didn't try to tame her. They say Imelda deep down did like Ziggy but I think she should've been with either Vince or Trevor.
@@kevinprior3549 Vince ? No way...he was both gormless and ugly.Imelda was too good for the likes of Vince
I fancied Imelda so much and even had the same haircut
an innocent comment..until I discovered you're her father!
preferred Helen, especially the Harriet the donkey storyline, happy days
go Mrs Mclusky!
one in every school
Yes. The offending boy in my high school was expelled in Year 8.
I watched form day 1, Imelda days were towards the end of my viewing, think it went downhill after those days.
Dannyhugh 100 you've obviously never watched the whole of Grange Hill from the beginning.
If Imelda Davis had a boyfriend Imelda may have been a delightful, pleasant, friendly, kind, girl with a heart of gold the sort of girl what doesn't have a bad word to say about anyone.
I always wanted her and Ziggy to get it on.
Um may have taken a while for her to calm down I think
This is why I have no qualms about punching a woman in my own defense.
DAVID OWEN WINTER There’s nothing wrong with hitting a woman back if they hit you first, some thots start trouble because they think they can get away with it, well things are changing, less men are taking shit these days, white knights like you are the cowards.
I agree with you. What sort of thick sod would just stand there and let a woman belt him? Too many fannies about these days sticking up for women and making out they can do no wrong. I'd smack a woman in the mouth as easily as i'd smack a feller if they were trying to hit (or claw) me. Many women would just take the piss out of someone who was trying to stick up for them anyway.
SuperZebadee
After all, who fought so hard, demanding to be treated as equals to men? Yep, women. Now they gotta take the rough with the smooth that equality brings.
When they fight with the men they get hurt with the men.
Depictions of a school girl fighting sure riles up the incels
This was the time Gripper Stebson came back to Grange Hill....as a woman!.😂
She plays the rather neglectful mother at the beginning and at 3:17 and then again at the end 10:27, it was in 1987 so I guess she will look different now a days.
She looks like Dennis the meance
I remember her well, god actor, but what a part she played, often wonder what they are doing now, all the kids.
She's an estate agent
1:29 which episode?
Omg I love this video omg so funny
They did expel Grippa (Long Over Due) after he had created vigilante groups in the toilets and Bullet Baxter came Blasting in there to finally say the writing's on the wall now and that was IT ,thank god that he was gone in the end and the same can be said for Imelda. Neither Grippa NOR Imelda should have been admitted to GH in the first place.
It's funny I didn't really remember imelda like I did gripper
Is Mr Scott related to Claire Scott?
Not that I'm aware of, Scott is a common name.
She made Gripper look like a little lamb. Verging on evil.
RIP McKenzie
I pity the other school.
somehow she reminds me of Demyx from Kingdom hearts with that Mullet haircut lol
Good actress
I had a terrible crush on ismelda when i was 2
14 '15 consequently my first few girlfriends were nuts
l I really remember the foam part and her putting it down people's shirts
The Black Johnny Gat Me too! It's my biggest memory of Grange hill, along with the sausage
ojideagu lol what sausage??
The Black Johnny Gat lol during the intro sequence. A cartoon sausage gets thrown
ojideagu oh yeah
+The Black Johnny Gat it was asbestos
Every school has its Imelda or Gripper.
Only issue I found with her charactor was that she was too well spoken. Think the actress that played her should have adopted a more chavvy accent.
true
marcia king is me head teacher who is she in that
What year is this please
Some of it was from 1986 and some from 1987.
Do u have 1996 episodes
Lisa Richards Richards No Sorry, Was after my time of viewing x
Ok
Veronica bleating in the teacher's ear.
Sgt. WILLS from Dixon of Dock Green.
Remember the fibreglass used to fancier her too
I was the male imelda Davis in every I attended. I'm 46 and regret nothing 😏
Classic Mr Griffiths right there...@ :27 or so:
Mr Griffiths: What are you doing?
Imelda Davis: Nothing
Mr Griffiths: Well, don't....
i think the redheaded guy looks a bit like Ron Weasly lol
Ha ha ha ha ha
Loved Robbie's laugh
A minor league bully compared to Gripper Stebson - he was pure evil.
Apples and bowling balls, Tony
I feel like Imelda was more of an all-round anarchist than a bully.
