This is such a beautiful song from them. It’s another example of the amazing 5 part harmony they achieve when Rupp sings too. He fills that middle layer with such a pleasant tenor voice. Chance kills this one. 🥰
Chance directed this video. So beautiful and so sad too. With the character he is playing in this vid, his memories of her are in color, but his reality is without color. Chance has a lovely wife Sami, and they seem very happy, and perfect for each other.
This is a beautifully crafted composition. Chance is an introvert and his persona is generally serious. He does not suffer fools and as he has stated he doesn’t like to be ' messed with.' He has a great witty humor but doesn’t throw it about. To see his sweet, smiling tender side, catch him in clips with his adorable wife Sami. She lights him right up. She is around 30 but could pass for 20 any day. She's a professional photographer for both Home Free and especially Chance. Oh...and he suffers often and mightily with migraines.
Chance seems to be very talented at physically and tunefully expressing sorrow. He definitely can be as fun and silly as the others but there is just something about him that really shines in the sad songs. Thanks, Jeremy!
Chance has the lead in Workin' for a Livin', too. But, yes, Chance prefers the sad songs. When they asked each one what their favorite love song was, he said, "You know I prefer break up songs". But Chance's sad songs give the guys a perfect opportunity to show off those glorious, close, haunting harmonies.
One of Chance's best, including the video. If you want a song that shows Austin's vulnerable and sad side, react to Love Me Like That. Austin wrote it, and I think it's one of his best. Hope you and Jillian are doing better. 😊
Chance leads in Springsteen's Born in the USA which shows different side of his musical talent, yet he does prefer the sad songs and does them so well. He's my favorite HF voice. Thanks for reacting!
Chance directed this one - his music (whether it's a cover or he's written it) tends to run to melancholy. This video is so cleverly done in B&W, apart from the scenes with the former g/f or her items. A visual depiction of how colourless his world is without her. Of course the singing, harmonies & beatboxing are terrific - they always are. I hope Ninja recovers quickly! Thanks for playing this & your comments.
This is possibly my favorite Chance lead. So tender and warm. The boys sounded so good behind him, hauntingly beautiful. Thanks Jeremy for another great reaction; I think Ninja would have really liked this one. I hope you are both feeling better. ❤
Chance has done his share of melancholy leads, but he also has some upbeat tunes too. You did one of them, and that was my request (Yes I was anonymous) and that was "Finally Free", another that you haven't done yet, which they still often sing in their concerts is "Some Girls Do", the cover of Sawyer Brown's 1992 mega-hit. You even get to see Chance's future wife in this one :)
Hey....belated THANK YOU for the song request, Kevin...you sneaky thing!! Can't believe we haven't heard of "Some Girls Do" yet, but definitely looking forward to it. Thanks again!! ❤️🥷🏻
Chance's vocal quality lends itself to the feeling of heartache. Long time back, he did a collection of photos which were supposed show a variety of expressions. Each was captioned differently, except that every photo was the same...kind of sad. Hidden behind that look he can be such a goof and has a great smile and laugh. No beatboxing in this, so we get full-on church organ with the amazing 5-part harmony. That always brings up emotion. You may not have noticed, at the very end of the video, Adam is starting to laugh/smile which breaks the mood of the song in the closing seconds.
This is so hauntingly beautiful. Chance has said that he doesn't like love songs, but he prefers breakup songs. And that melancholy works so well with his voice. Yum.
To me, this is the perfect Chance song. While it’s sad, it also tells a good story. And the chills are worth the wait. Sorry to hear that you and Jillian are battling the creepin’ cruds. Take care and feel better!
Nice that you noticed the color vs black and white. The past in color, the present(without her) colorless. The video was Chance's idea. This is one of my favs. The harmonies, so deep and rich.
Chance does seem more introverted and serious than the rest of the guys. I really like the dynamic he brings to the group because of that. It's different and it adds some depth (not in the "singing bass sometimes" sense, although he does that, too), but just a deeper and more meaningful richness and complexity to their music that they may otherwise not have. Anyway, I'll stop musing now lol. Great reaction as usual. This song is probably my favorite of their "sad" songs.
Such a sad and haunting song. I always get emotional listening to this one. While this isn't about a story about passing, my husband of 40 years passed away in 2014. He is still a part of me and in everything I do.
@@musikbyjh Thank you for the kind words Jillian. I really appreciate that. Sending love and a prayer for a complete and speedy recovery. Love Jeremy but it's always fun to see you both together in the reactions. ❤❤
Sorry you've both been under the weather. The studio is amazing. That said...found a new one here. The harmonies are hypnotizing ❤ So happy that Home Free caught your attention, too. Much love to you and Jillian ❤
One of the best and most beautiful songs where Chance has the lead. Chance with his raw sexy voice that fits this song perfectly. Really so good! And then with the so tight harmonies and the bass, let's hear a high class a-cappella
I love love Chance’s voice. I really feel the emotions of the song when he sings a song especially when it’s a sad song not saying all they guys don’t do that it’s Chance’s voice hits a little bit different . There are happy Chance songs like Woman Amen / Female, Born In The USA and some others. They just released Oh Pretty Woman last Friday and Today they are releasing a remake o fLife Is A Highway 😊
This is my favorite Chance lead and the one I was hoping you would listen to back in the days you were "trying to get" Chance. You got there without it, but glad you got to this one in the end.
Great reaction. Chance likes sad songs. Thank God. I don't get sadness from him. But I love that he chooses to do songs like this. It gives that much more depth to Home Free. Two of his best (solo) on his channel that I don't think you've seen are "If I Could Only Fly" (Blaze Foley) and "Driver's License" (Olivia Rodrigo). Seeing what they do on their own will give you that much more appreciation for what each brings to the group.
I love how everything that was hers are in color and anything she was in. Also I love that we get to hear Adam sing instead of beatboxing. Really enjoyed watching your reaction to this song. Yes Jeremy we love you not just Ninja.
Yes, this is a sad one. Maybe you're right -- many of Chance's solos seem to be quite melancholy. Home Free's backup and harmonies are so smooth in this one. The blended voices were never bound together so completely. Hope you and Jillian feel better soon, and enjoy your visit. Thanks for sharing.
You have heard Sea Shantly Medley, Some Girls Do, Dive Bar Saints etc. Chance can be happy and upbeat with the best of them. He has a low, mellow baritone so the band gives him more sentimental/ emotional songs. He is artistically inclined and a good actor and can actually make his voice take on the personality it needs to. Thank you.
Some Girls Do is definitely the most upbeat, along with the Sea Shanty Medley, but his voice really suits those quiet soulful songs. I think because they're closer to his own personality. Much love to you and Ninja, hope you both feel better soon!
Finally!!! Been waiting for you to watch this, it is probably my favorite video. Chance directed this video, love the use of black and white and color. Great symbolism!!
This is one of Home Free's sadder songs. Chance's voice is really suited to doing this type of song. I like the video too, where most of it is in black & white with only a few of the personal items that remind him of her are in color.
Chances voice is so warm and relaxing I could listen to him sing all day long. Yes, he does tend to sing sad songs, but nobody does it better. You should check out his version of Drivers License, which is so beautiful. Hope your wife is feeling better soon. Take care, and thank you.❤🥰💐
Great observation Jeremy - Chance's voice has that "melancholy" lilt that just goes so well for that type of song/sound....and the angelic BGV's took this song through the roof. I could listen to Chance any time, any place, any where. To me he's the "secret sauce" that makes the rest of Home Frees' sound what it is...Simply delectable! One of his songs that will get you in the mood is his version of "If I could Only Fly" - it will take you to another world my friend! I highly recommend it if you like his voice!!! What you said made perfect sense….to me anyway. 🙂 I am the mom of four sons….each different from all of the others. My husband and I just celebrated our 43rd anniversary. My husband is a quiet, serious, introverted man. He is a thinker, an observer and a listener. He misses nothing and can read most people like a book. Kinda scary at times. Chance seems very much the same. Chance, by himself, seems serious, introspective, a thinker, an observer. Chance in a group setting can hang with all of them….happy, sad, goofy, funny, playful etc. Our second son, also named Jeremy 😁, look like he should be a bouncer at a bar. He’s 6’2”, about 250, wears a size 13 or 14 shoe….he just a big guy. BUT he has a heart of gold. He is a big teddy bear, wears his feelings on his sleeve, would give you his last dollar if you needed it. He can also be a big cut up, act silly, laugh and be a joker, he loves children and they love him. So very sorry that you and your Little Ninja got sick. 🤧🤒☹️ Take care of yourselves. Terri in SC
Yep, the B&W definitely is impactful. I have done Skull and Bones aand it was AWESOME!!! Check it out when you have time: ua-cam.com/video/mUyRaCNtAyU/v-deo.html
Yeah -- this one is a sad go ... but it's so good! Dive Bar Saints -- I didn't take it as "sad" at all ... Truth, Brilliance - in writing and arranging. Only 2, how dare you : ) Guess that just leaves ya owing us ... hmmm! Be Safe
This is beautiful. I've not listened to it since it was released. Thanks for this one. ❤ This song has a lot of meaning behind it. ❤ Continued blessings! ❣
The way Chance made the video colorized with items reminding him of her, or including her was so beautiful. And the soft oohs and ahhs fit the smoothness of Chance in his lower registry here. One of my favorite slept on songs by Home Free, thank you for reacting to this one!
The guys are all like different instruments with their own strengths, the complete drum kit/ sound machine with Adam, the deep bass to strong country sounds from Tim, the smooth tenor/gospel Rob, the up front high trumpet sounds of musical theater vocals of Austin, and the soft, smooth, melodic, singing of the country boy next door in Chance. Chance gets over looked at first because of the strong voices of the others and he is the baritone which is buy nature mostly harmony/filler so to speak. Example, although Austin is amazingly talented and highly trained as a singer, him singing that song would probably not have the same "Feel". Everyone brings something different to the table
So glad you were able to get to this one! It's definitely one of my favourites, particularly of their incredible 5-part harmonies. The video is hauntingly beautiful as it weaves the story of life with/without her. I hope Ninja has had opportunity to see it too! Chance's voice is perfect for this kind of song, but he's great in Some Girls Do, Hillbilly Bone, Workin' for a Livin' and Brother if you're looking for a lighter side of Chance. Keep the Home Free coming; they never disappoint!
Hey Sam!!! Thanks for the nice comment. Dude, I know on the merch...we are so behind and Ninja is racing to get quality products done. You'll be top of the list to know!! I'm on Twitter / X, but under my photography page (@sik_imagery): twitter.com/SiKImagery
Jeremy.. I can apricate that some songs from Home Free that you have reacted to is mediocre but with 170 plus videos I could probably count on one hand... yeah they shouldn't have done that. Let's say 10 songs outta 170 were bad, 90% is great!! I was trying to dig up another song featuring Chance but I'm older and my cheese is sliding off my cracker, I can't remember! peace
Ugh, we tried. There was an awesome donation request for a drum solo Adam recently did on tour. When we went to record it, the link no longer worked (it wasn't a link issue, the video was taken down by UA-cam). We spent too much time trying to find a good alternative and gave up. We'll be with Matt the viking drummer again soon and definitely will have our act together by then!! ✌🏽

Chance loves sad songs, and he does them so well
Hugs to Ninja … 💗‼️
Chance is a bit like a cello.
@itzel1735 I can see that, smooth and Mellow with some deep tones
So glad you were able to get to this one! It's definitely one of my favourites, particularly of their incredible 5-part harmonies. The video is hauntingly beautiful as it weaves the story of life with/without her. I hope Ninja has had opportunity to see it too! Chance's voice is perfect for this kind of song, but he's great in Some Girls Do, Hillbilly Bone, Workin' for a Livin' and Brother if you're looking for a lighter side of Chance. Keep the Home Free coming; they never disappoint!
Chance's soul is exposed when he sings whoever concived of the video and videograhy was tasteful and sensitive.
This was Chance's concept and he directed the video. To me, it's a masterpiece!
Just, wow!
Hope you both get well soon
You need to see Some Girls Do for a lighter side of Chance.
Muy buena canción
Si, verdad?!? Gracias, Silvia!!
Gran persona amigo
I want to be Chance when I grow down.
Great Puscifer shirt. Great rxn as usual. Send me a hat! Are you on the tweet machine? Thanks as always.
Hey Sam!!! Thanks for the nice comment. Dude, I know on the merch...we are so behind and Ninja is racing to get quality products done. You'll be top of the list to know!! I'm on Twitter / X, but under my photography page (@sik_imagery): twitter.com/SiKImagery
Not bad for Country Music, huh?
Right?!?! I keep telling him to get over it already.... 😎❤️,🥷🏻
Yeah yeah yeah….i guess. 🤪
Nah, but seriously…it’s really well done. 100%.
🤘🏽😎🤘🏽
Good
Jeremy.. I can apricate that some songs from Home Free that you have reacted to is mediocre but with 170 plus videos I could probably count on one hand... yeah they shouldn't have done that. Let's say 10 songs outta 170 were bad, 90% is great!!
I was trying to dig up another song featuring Chance but I'm older and my cheese is sliding off my cracker, I can't remember!
peace

Your not going to have your drummer buddy listen to Adam?
Ugh, we tried. There was an awesome donation request for a drum solo Adam recently did on tour. When we went to record it, the link no longer worked (it wasn't a link issue, the video was taken down by UA-cam). We spent too much time trying to find a good alternative and gave up. We'll be with Matt the viking drummer again soon and definitely will have our act together by then!! ✌🏽
