I am a practitioner of Chinese Medicine and have been having some good results treating long covid. The most effective treatment for clearing brain fog is clearing Damp. Any Acupuncture practitioner can do this as long as they are degree or equivalent qualified and not focused on musculoskeletal work such as physiotherapists. Brain fog is one of the easiest symptoms to clear.
The most effective diet changes for my patients has been to remove dairy, sugar, convenience foods and alcohol. Also bread products for some people.
I would agree about the antidepressant and anti anxiety meds. They definitely complicate treatment and make it much harder to move patients forward.
Movement is also helpful. Any exercise that involves movement, it doesn’t need to be strenuous which can be difficult when post exercise malaise is present.

Walking and running have always been beneficial to me.
I like going for long walks when I need to de-stress or work out a solution to a problem.
I heard research findings about the change in brain waves while walking, we can calm ourselves by it. All of the great British writers were individuals who took long walks, and they attributed their creativity in part to this activity.
    It's mood elevating.
I heard some prisoners of war say that they would walk around their prison camps as much as they could for these stated benefits, and noted the similarity to caged animals that would constantly pace.

I must have had a huge hit to my hippocampus . My spatial recognition was gone after alpha , my emotions didn't go to depression , my emotions were gone . My sex drive vaporized and had continuous incredible headaches . Weeks later , my emotions began to come back in the most disturbing way . I was happy , then extremely, depressed , then apathetic , rinse and repeat by several minute each cycle . This went on for a few months .
At some point , I ran into a cbd product that helped , but also took dimatapp . Together , much of the symptoms vanished. Was able to get my work life back to a symbolence of normality.

An excellent book to explain the processes behind dementia and to elaborate on all the things you can do to prevent or reverse cognitive decline is ‘The End of Alzheimer’s’ by Dr Dale Bredesen. I imagine Dr Been’s drawing skills would help explain the mechanism he describes in the book for how amyloid beta begets more of itself. I assume all things mentioned in the book would help with covid brain fog too. There is a substacker called Walter Chestnut who has a big theory about covid spike and amyloid.

Dance🎆 THEY say that dancing uses a different part of our brain and this is why people who have medical problems such that they can't walk & use a Walker can get on a dance floor and really cut a rug.
I have been at festivals where there were a lot of seniors and I actually saw that happen at a Swedish Festival here in the States: she put her walker aside; she got onto the dance floor; and she really let it go and you would never know that she had Mobility problems!🙂 THIS is one reason I REALLY want to learn ballroom dance because I would have that forever in my memory which again is in a different part of the brain than the memory that deals with faces and names and facts and ideas. IT'S like seeing people who can't talk for various medical reasons ( eg Alzheimer's) but suddenly they're able to sing 🎤🎶🎷 a song they knew when they were young. SO there is hope. DON'T give up your hope and I think TRULY it will come back to you and you will be a 🌟 dancer once again. YOUR Technique might be a little different but YOUR emotion will be deeper 🕊and more beautiful 🌅than ever before when you dance💃God bless the singers and dancers and dr been☺

    @13:30 mins
This is highly pertinent to me Dr Been.
    Thank you.
I have sustained a brain injury a year ago from the first dose of AstraZeneca.
It feels like it's sliced into my frontal lobe and punched deep holes in it too.
I looked into what parts might have been involved according to my symptoms and deficits, and it seems to be most of the brain.
I'm enjoying some improvement now, and my emotions are experiencing some restoration of function. They've been greatly deficient, and I missed them. I felt like I'd lost my personality.
Most recently, I've been able to cry.
I've been able to pray, and pour my heart out to God for the suffering of others.
I still feel nothing, blank, empty, some days but I very much appreciate the good days where I can pray, feel depths of emotion, feel deeply connected to God, feel His love for me, feel deep love for others, and worship God.
I'm having more days wherein I can enjoy reading a few pages of a book, make sense of it, remember what I've read, and I'm able to read Bible passages again, which has increased my quality of life enormously. I can concentrate on informative videos too, and not have to watch them five or six times to aid comprehension.
I heard that singing is good for neuroplasticity, so when I feel emotionally responsive, I put on worship music and sing.
I'm playing lounge music/jazz at night, and enjoying that too while I make and eat dinner.
I'm taking the FLCCC recommended nutriceuticals, and B vitamins which promote glutathione manufacture in our cells.
I also have a low carbohydrate consumption to keep glucose and insulin levels low, reducing inflammation.
For the last two months, I've been able to participate in a conversation and process it in real time. I couldn't do that with the injury.
I still have bad days though where I don't understand what a sign says, or what someone is saying. I say inappropriate responses to small talk.
**sigh** I apologise and explain that I have vaccine brain injury, and I'm not myself.
My word recall and sentence formation is improving. I could barely speak at all for months. I'd end up just shaking my head in frustration, and shame of disability, unable to explain what had happened, and why I couldn't speak.
My decision making abilities are improving too. I have more good days than bad where I can't make a decision or organise myself. When I have a lot of heart arrythmias, I notice the reduced brain perfusion, and not only feel stupified, I get very fatigued too, so don't exert myself at all.

I used Zeolite to detox some 3 weeks ago and it worked quickly, this helped stop the shortness of breath, much of the fatigue and now I can walk for about 2 hours but for months before the detox walking was inviting a crisis experience of pain, severe fatigue, difficult breathing, atrial fibrillation the whole night. The brain has not recovered and I still get the shakes if I have over done physical activities or if I am unwell. Still have squishing sound in my brain, the horrible sensation of the brain contracting is worse with the heat and strong smells like onions, garlic, perfume. This time last year walking was torture from inflammation I experienced in my head, I had to keep the neck stiff and watch each step forward and not agitated the head, if I moved my head it was like my brain was bumping against the skull, like my brain had shrunk and I would have a wave of dizziness, nausea, this triggered palpitations, tiredness, sweating while feeling cold. I believe the CDB oil and Chinese mushrooms helped too. The journey into hell started end of April and on 10 /05 /2021 I had seizures, MRI was said to be normal but I don't believe them. Some doctors were helpful but others cancelled me off and gave me promazine. I am still waiting for neurologist review. I get electrical shocks firing in the brain and black seed oil stops the electricity. Then I have to stick to water only because the drinks I love like coke, cranberry juice, spicy foods increases my body conductivity to sound and electrical shocks. Not to forget insomnia. I take vitamins, turmeric and antihistamines. I know other people died of this inflammation, never had a chance to explain what they felt and never heard. 🙏💕.

I'm sorry for those that have long COVID and neurological issues from COVID but the efforts to study these problems has been a boon for those of us with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome who have been suffering from similar problems, including the neurological issues. So interesting about the plasticity of the hippocampus making it vulnerable to injury. Storing new memories of events and spatial awareness are problems I especially deal with. Stress made things much worse. The COVID lockdown actually gave me the sustained rest I needed!! A specific B12/Folate protocol helped me with immensely with several issues as did many other nutrition and supplemental approaches. I crave novelty which I thought was partly because my memory is damaged but wouldn't it be interesting if it were my brain trying to heal?

    This makes sense.
Post v*x brain injury, I was clumsy, uncoordinated, and had intermittent trouble with eating (as well as speaking). I felt like I'd had a lobotomy most days.
I would make a salad that included red cabbage and kale (which requires chewing), and I would bite my tongue, or swallow without chewing the mouthful enough and start coughing.
It requires some organisation and coordination to eat, as we move the mouthful around in our mouths to give more attention to the chunkier pieces of vegetables, for example.
I had to pay attention to what I was doing, and somewhat relearn eating and drinking, relearn the 'rhythm', volume, consistency, and the 'timing' of it, things I'd mastered while still in diapers.

I think any one of the things mentioned in this video are quite valid but they are made more relevant as a link of an interdependent chain of things and by themselves probably have limited scope but they are very good.
I really like the idea of lighting and changing the environment and looking to modify the sense of being through stimulating the senses like going different places.
Artistic activity and the brain efforts connected to that stimulate a sense of being maybe difficult to describe but maybe in a way similar to salivating when stimulated by the thought of amazing food. Turning on switches
Also I thought was good was the walking or running thing and maybe there are also a multitude of physical efforts, could be even standing and moving around a limited area and manipulating things and using one's body in fixed positions that require effort. Maybe that's not so cardio but I've been struggling to recover and with limited power, have found that seemingly innocuous activities which involve the senses and making various hard efforts together, can trigger metabolic changes that I can only describe as invigorating and feeling beneficial. For example breaking out into a sweat and the sensation of releasing endorphins
Thanks, I really enjoyed the presentation and found it very inspiring

  • @brotherofiam
    @brotherofiam Рік тому +2

Good information. The one thing that I was looking for in this presentation which may have been at a lower level than was intended to be covered, was the mention is the role of ATP. neurogenisis, memory storage and retrieval all require energy, ie ATP. If anything interferes with production of ATP, all processes that require ATP will be impaired. In people w/ fibromyalgia, a condition that is known for brain fog, they have found build up of lactic acid at hippocampus. Lactic acid is a byproduct of cell manufacturing ATP in an anaerobic environment. The hippocampus is oxygen starved. ergo the benefit of running, increased blood flow supplying nutrients and oxygen to the brain.
