      One world series with great lineups, the best pitcher of his generation (Kershaw) as well as a deep rotation year on year, and one of the best closers of the 2010s (Kenley Jansen).

      @@jamesbaurus5928 My feeling is that they haven't grasped a major difference in Football compared to baseball - in the latter, each position is pretty discrete. You might need a degree of communication between 2nd base and short stop, but largely each position knows what they have to do, there isn't a lot of interactions that have to be adjusted on the fly. If I recruit a batter who plays in the outfield, I can largely guess what he'll contribute. It's very different to soccer where just about every position interacts, like having a strong LB who only needs a little help from a left sided midfield player. It's so much harder to know how a transfer will pan out

    Another sign that Boely knows nothing about running a club. Chelsea was a joke for most of this season (again) but the last third of the season, Poch showed that he might have figured out some chemistry between all these new players, chemistry that could take them forward into the next season. That's what happens with a lot of teams, like Inter for example. They hit a massive streak around April of last year, showing they figure out something (and getting to the CL final in the process). That something was shown this year, when they absolutely dominated serie a.
    If Pochettino was not sacked and instead left, good for him. Chelsea is not a serious club to base a project on.

    It might be the right decision in terms of footballing sense as many times poch didn’t seem to have good tactics and relied on individual brilliance. the main problem is who is better on the market to replace him right now. and seeing how much the squad liked him it’s hard to see a good ending to this

    • @SirEEf13
      @SirEEf13 8 місяців тому +1

      Exactly my point.
      Poch had his problems, sometimes really obvious ones, but the fact that we're not linked to a manger that isn't a huge risk and that we can comfortably claim to do a better job really worries me.

    • @2639theboss
      @2639theboss 8 місяців тому +2

      Exactly. Some of his tactical decisions this year were absolutely indefensible, and the team was only "trending up" because it was so ridiculously poor at the start. They were still barely beating bottom-table and midtable teams, their last three results were wins by 1 goal over 11th, 12, and 17th. And they weren't even playing in Europe this year, and that has a huge impact on squad availability, so this is basically their peak.
      And, because they missed Champions League, which is a joke when Aston Villa managed to make it, they probably will have to sell Gallagher or someone else. They might still miss Europa League based on the FA Cup final. I'm sure they have huge clauses with sponsors for missing the CL.
      I don't understand how anyone can look at Poch this season and think he was a good manager long-term. Just because the club is a clown show doesn't necessarily mean it makes sense to keep Poch. If they genuinely don't have any good manager prospects, and they haven't had any discussions with their targets, it's stupid then. But we won't know until they make their hire if that was true or not.

    I'm a Chelsea fan, I’vewatched literally every match this season.Allthough keeping him would’ve made sense i would like the board to go with someone they agree with on major points (regardless of the route they intend to take)
    Some of the errors that might’ve cost him his position :
    -let down his pre-season principles just after 3 winless games(brings them back & we win5 consécutives games)
    -chilwell as a winger
    -Enzo in the 10
    -Gallagher winger
    -Catastrophic substitutions
    -Cataclysmic match management
    -nonsensical team composition numerous times
    -Unable to beat Middlesbourough who had 16 injured players
    -Refuses to change his training methods despite the fact that the club brought in specialists who questioned his method regarding players injuries
    -Brings players back from injuries directly into group training despite the instructions of the medical department
    -Draw against Sheffield United who have conceded 104 goals this season
    -Draw against a 10 man burnley side
    -Final vs Liverpool
    -Refuses the addition of a set-piece coach when we are the worst team in the Premier League in that domain
    -The team is doing poorly 80% of the season but he changes absolutely nothing in his system before the last 5 games
    -Incompatibility of its system with players that the club considers central to the project: Colwill and Enzo
    -System centered on Conor Gallagher
    -Disagreement with the board over Gallagher's place in the project
    -The ian maatsen case
    -Management of Academy players
    - Asks for transfer power when he asked for dybala ugarte and lautaro and did not want to palmer
    Sacking him is not a stupid décision depending of Who you Will replace him with

    It's not like Poch hasn't made any mistakes but considering recent form it's really weird that they sacked him.
    What makes it bad is the new managers we are linked with.
    Enzo Maresca is just another Kompany/Burnley situation.
    We're somehow linked to Kompany aswell.
    Ruben Amorim (my favorite option by far) was ruled out a couple weeks ago.
    McKenna is amazing but still very risky as the jury is still out on whether he can do it in the Prem let alone a bigger club like Chelsea.
    De Zerbi I have 0 trust in.
    And Hoeneß also isn't super experienced and apparently decided to stick with Stuttgart anyway.
    We're not linked to an option that fills me with hope and this really worries me. I'm a Chelsea fan and I genuinely fear that I wont be able to back the next manager from the get go and will have to wait until I'm won over. The 'mutual agreement' part is a known-hoax. Besides concealing the reasons for parting ways, it's also a way to conceal how much the coach receives in release clause fees. Because these fees are massive, coaches often don't get the full amount that comes with an official "fired" situation. They always negotiate a percentage of that fee and that's where the 'mutual agreement' part comes into play.

    the truth is that poch wanted to keep gallagher and chalobah but thats not in line with the boards vision. this along with hand-picked metrics (e.g. how much we haven't utilized set pieces) is what caused a rift between the ownership and poch. boehly is the frontman and takes a lot of the heat, but i firmly believe this was a decision made by majority stakeholders like egbhali and co. i think the consortium hasnt seen eye to eye in a while hence they are now rarely seen together nor speak to the public in regards to one other. based on how things are going, i don't see a light at the end of the tunnel any time soon.

      yes, this. if they sold Enzo for 60 million it would fix the FFP problem and everything could continue. but that would be a climbdown for the owners and as Z says, they appear to want to fly right through the Sun like Icarus on steroids. They'll probably get it right eventually, just by the law of averages.

    Finishing 12th last season was a disaster. Finishing 6th this season is still bad. I feel like everyone's focus is on Chelsea's last couple of games, but judging the whole season, it wasn't good enough. The only problem I have with sacking Potch is lack of solid replacement on the market. If they hire some Championship coach, next season I'm going to watch every game through my fingers.

      Clubs take a while to turn around, unless you've got a new manager in sync with the playing style of the recruited players. It's why Man Utd are in such a mess, there just hasn't been that continuity in transfer targets and manager playing styles. You probably need 18 months of a manager getting their type of players in to really judge them. Still not oversold on Poch, but I'm not going to draw negatives about any Chelsea managers of recent years!

  • @LewisU16

    As a Chelsea fan, I disagree. It took Pochettino 34 premier league games to adapt his system and trying something new (the game against Aston Villa on April 27th), up to that game we were dreadful relying on individual performances to win games. While our recent games were definitely an improvement, look at how quick Glasner has improved Crystal Palace in way less time than Poch. The problem isn't not having Pochettino it's more the names which are being rumoured to replace him. Personally think the decision to end his time was made after the Arsenal 5-0 game.

    As you point out, billionaires have fragile egos, so there's always this dilemma, especially at Chelsea where you have basically people who were recently children fighting each other: you need someone with a bit of gravitas who is able to bring discipline to the situation. BUT of course this person will then go up against the billionaire and try to get them to buy the players they want etc rather than meekly accepting what they're given, because they have gravitas and are used to getting what they want. So billionaire has a meltdown and sacks them (Tuchel), or they leave because they know they are never getting what they need (what I think probably just happened with Poch). Potter was just never given enough time to pitch his tent in what was basically a hurricane.

    Ok, story time: Back in the day, i'm playing FM2008 and i'm 50+ seasons in. I'm managing Aston Villa at this point. Won everything multiple times. New season, we started slow, and the team is not quite good, but improving. I am in the last year of contract and my fate depends on what i'll win. Half way through the season the club is sold and new boss arrived. Eventually the team is turned around: we started winning every game, no injuries, the harmany is top. The team wins CL and PL in style. Season ended. My contract was not renewed, despite all this, the new boss wanted a new direction... wtf.... I took over the richest club then (Fulham) and kept destroying the game...

    No such thing as mutual consent when it comes to employment, as the bosses usually go "we don't want you anymore but we'll give you a mutually agreed amount of money" that's all there is to it, poch wouldn't have said "I'm going nowhere" cos if he did then it would officially be classed as a sacking. I think the issue is that the Chelsea manager DOESN’T get to sign whoever they want. All sales and signings are decided by the owner and the board, most notably sales, and I don’t think Poch was happy with that. Especially when it comes to home grown players such as Gallagher and Chalobah who Boehly seems desperate to sell

  • @MaeYouRIP
    @MaeYouRIP 8 місяців тому

    Sounds from Chelsea seem to suggest their empowering the green bar analysts who took issue with Poch's decisions (wrongly, who tf are they and what have they ever done?) like playing Enzo higher, (correctly) and playing more transitional (right decision) and Poch was apparently against the sale of Gallagher and Chalobah, but those idiots likely want to cash in on them and waste it on dross again. Good luck to Palmer next season, he had a good run with a manager giving him freedom to play, I have him scoring 11 goals total next season.

    man, that +19 stat is amazing. to outperform, even in that one regard, a team like Villa who had such a stellar season by breaking into the top 4, can only be seen as success. ok, Villa are at the top end of the league and the higher up the table you go, the harder and harder improving gets because it means taking points off better and better sides, but still, Emery's +7 improvement for Villa is being seen as an unqualified triumph, but +19 isn't enough to keep the job at Chelsea? madness...

    • @neilbiggs1353
      @neilbiggs1353 8 місяців тому

      Some of the +19 can be put down to missing out on Europe though - having those fewer mid-week games can help keep the nominal first team fresher for longer. Most non-Big 6 teams in Europe tend to perform worse than the season they qualified

    • @GuyJames

    I know Zealand doesn't pay attention to the everyday sphere of Chelsea news, but this was not a surprise to us who were paying attention. Poch and the owners/directors don't agree on many things like transfer structure and despite results, this has been building. Not a shock at all. Like immediately after the season ended, the directors announce that Poch faves like Chalobah and Gallagher are for sale. So of course there's discontent. Poch doesn't want the players he likes sold and the directors just want a "yes man" to do as he's told.

    Chelsea will be a Championship club in under 10-years as will United. The only alternative scenario is one where the FA actually grows a pair, punishes City, relegates them and forces them to start the Championship season in -30 odd points where in the wake of this catastrophe, Arsenal enjoys a period of 2-5 years alternating Premier League wins with Liverpool and Newcastle while Chelsea and United restore their status just ahead of City’s return and establishing a new top 6 of the aforementioned clubs plus Spurs or someone else like Villa or Ham pending a gaffer appointment or two.
