I can't imagine anything worse than being locked in a cell with water rising 6 or 7 feet as you wonder if you'll be left to drown. It's heart-wrenching, cruel and Un-American. Especially since many of the people haven't been convicted of crimes and are considered innocent right now.
Why aren't the prison bosses being charged with reckless endangerment or something like that, for not evacuating the prisons, when the general public was told to flee, or they might not exist for much longer
I heard somewhere on another channel that during that time they shut down regular activities meaning they don’t get as much food, water etc. and then it gets extremely hot or extremely cold during those times.
Concrete buildings aren't indestructible, they can and do fail due to the extreme forces during hurricanes, they might be better than other types of building, so maybe a shelter of last resort if you can't evacuate, but definitely shouldn't be a first choice if you can get away. And that's not even considering the flooding, and who exactly was going to staff the prison, surely the prison bosses have a duty of care towards the prison staff. You've only got to check news reports from hurricanes around the world to see the level of destruction they can bring

An all concrete structure such as a jail or prison would be the ideal solution to shelter in place during a hurricane!!!!!!

Uh, yeah. Except they don't do anything, and there's no accountability.
That's what I thought with Sandra Bland. I was wrong, and so is everyone!
A prison is made entirely of stone & steel. There are few SAFER places to be during either a hurricane or a tornado.
. . . or a zombiepocolypse
True, we should do better.
Also, don't do anything to deserve custody and we'll all be happier for it.
