I remember playing this song in 1985, when sitting in a lonely hotel in South Wooden Ferriers in Essex, UK after travelling from Australia to the UK to start my first job as a Engineer with GEC Marconi Avionics thinking what have I done....? Great song! Now I live back in Australia... much better!
Wow Guys this is awesome !! This is my sister's Funeral song, She loved it!!! I will we be remembering her in Feb as it marks 25yrs since her devastating passing. Keep Rocking on fellas !!
I ask this to bring an aspect of lightheartedness to one of the darkest times of your life but would you care to comment on who (and why) your sister wanted to ask to not be so reckless from the grave?
I was there! Might have been a different concert. It was at GPAC. But yeah, Big Scary and Vance Joy were supporting Performers for Bernard Fanning. Thats how I got into Vance Joy's music
1LinkEdits I saw them in Melbourne at the Palace. Was already into Vance Joy so it was awesome to see them both, Was really impressed with Big Scary as well. The true sign that Vance Joy is an incredible artist was his ability to perform 6 songs by himself with an Acoustic Guitar for 4 songs and a Ukulele for the other 2 and keep the crowd buzzing the whole time.
Yeah. To think, last year he was standing behind Bernard Fanning. Now he's performing right next to him. I just hope Riptide isn't just a one-hit wonder to everyone. Like, 2 songs get popular and then no one talking about him any more
Hi everyone from Kiewa North East Victoria. Aussie people reading this don't get pissed. As a Brit that's only lived in Oz for 4 years I'd never heard of this song or Australian Crawl, however, I was at the Red Hot Summer Tour Wodonga two weeks ago and saw James Reyne and his band perform this amazing song. I've been trying to find a recent live version performed by anyone but nothing comes even close to what I witnessed at the Gateway.
I love Vance Joy, he also played It's Because I love you by Master's Apprentices during his set at GTM last year and it was the highlight of my day. Considering the relatively young following he achieved after the success of Rip Tide it's great to see him playing (and probably introducing) some great Australian tunes from a different generation to his audience.

This is giving me so many Powderfinger feels... love Bernard Fanning!
I miss Australian Crawl....
This was absolutely wonderful. Bernard certainly still has it, Vance Joy and #1 Dads killed it, great song choice too!
Saw Big Scary, Vance Joy and Bernard Fanning on the same night on Bernard's last tour. Amazing artists and this is an awesome cover!

My idea of Aussie rock heaven! 3 great singers, songwriters, performers and a great song!
Fabulous rendition. Go Bernard!

5:32
I'm pretty sure that was a high five Vance, but sure, hug it out
Loved this moment!

It's time for a Powderfinger reunion tour.

It's 2024, and I'd absolutely still buy tickets ❤
Brilliant. Such a fabulous cover. Wow......What amazing talent on one stage.
This made my day
Love love ❤️

Legends
Fucking amazing cover!!! Love all these Aussie guys and seen them all live :)
Fantastic:Can’t get enough of BF.
Awesome! :)
AMAZING, I LOVE BERNARD
Wow Tom, you really killed that solo there...
Fuck I miss live music..
Most of the audience would be too young for this song. An epic song.
I trust Soul knows what it's doing
Did K-Mart have a sale on blue shirts...I missed that memo :(
🙏🏻❤️
❤️
would have no qualms marrying a man of Tom's talent tbh
wow
Wika men xox
Very good attempt.
RIP Brad Robinson
shouldn't Fanning be busking somewhere for his next hit?
1.10 - 1.13 listen to the crowd lmao
Anyone notice Bernard going for a high five at 0:39???
Was just saying hello to horn section, don't think it was a high five attempt.
Who is the original artist?
Australian Crawl/James Reyne
Good version, but like 99 percent of covers the original is still the best .
Nice try but underscores just how great James Reyne is.
I love JR but Bernie's vox are considerably better. The addition of BSS horn section is gold too.
@@geeclatters6121 Hm, nah, I didn't love Bernie's vox here. In general, he's a bit less dynamic that James.
i get patriotic when i see shit like this
Wasn't very impressed at all. Love the song, thought Fanning would bring more.
She dont like that kinda behaviour
Spine Tingling
Terrible.
Undeniable proof that only James Reyne sings "Reckless" well.
I don't know what everyone has been smoking.
Awful.
Yuck.
James Gray The vibrado's trash for James.
Vocals and guitar solos were cringe worthy...
