Steve, When I did it in 2022 with another friend I thought the cashed up nomads with their caravans, campervans and winnabagos were going to sink NT under the weight of them all. every caravan park and most accomodation was completely booked out.....needless to say I never booked ahead as it makes the trip inflexible and adds pressure to meet deadlines. So a lot of free camping was utilized. I live in Bris as well so your trip was almost the same as mine with a few deviations, one being the Burketown to Daley Waters section. But have throughly enjoyed your Vlogs. Brought back so many memories. Love the Stills as well. Cheers
Great series mate! Your photography is top notch, and the dry sense of humor cracks me up. I went to Coral Bay an age ago and had exactly the same feeling as you. The description of it being like a giant caravan park hit the nail on the head. I hope to do a trip like this on my bike one day….
That big brown thing that you climbed up with the radio dish on top is a termite mound….is it just me or are termites becoming more industrious and more technologically advanced?
The bonus to the content is that I get a good laugh from each episode, I love the dry humour 😊Your drone footage is exceptional in what’s clearly a limiting situation in relation to capability, size, storage and charging whilst on the bike. I’m contemplating buying a drone. What’s the brand/model, pro’s/cons - anything you’re willing to share is a greatly appreciated.
Thanks for watching. The drone I have is a DJI Air2s which I chose for its good camera as I am primarily a still photographer. I’d probably use a Mini 2 or 3 for motorbike travel due to its much smaller size and weight but when you’re dragging around a full size DSLR and three lenses it hardy matters!
Mate I'm really getting into your vids..sense of humour etc.. 🤣. I wouldn't do it but someone did so i gave him my camera.. absolutely pissed myself. This is also great as it's alot footage i didn't get on my trip as we look at different things.. luv ur wk. It looks like you missed the best part of Kalbarri the natures window it's a absolutely must ride just out of Kalbarri.. real pity you missed that.

Annnnnnnnd yep there she be "sarcasm" at the Stromatolites walkway😉😉 mmmm a pink skinned snot block yum. Followed by ... yep "pink" sarcasm what a double treat this episode has it all.

HI love all you have done . Could I ask one small thing of you which I know is probably hard to understand . when you show the stretch of road that you are riding for the day could you include the whole outline of Aus. As an overseas viewer who doesn't know you country , I would like to see the area in such a way that we can see the outline of the coast and know and understand the part of Aus its referring two . Fully understand its to late now but kinda hope that this trip will lead to many more and as its something that I enjoy so much along with your style sub and working on viewing the rest
In relation to pricing in the northwest: they eschew lube. They definitely don’t give you a kiss on the back of the neck once they have finished either.
I'm doing a rerun of your trip and enjoying it better so far second time round . Just wondering with all the wilderness around you why do you stay in these crowded camp grounds . Couldn't you just free camp up the road and come down for a feed or fill up your water bottle . Also interested to know what your average highway speed is. Cheers
The main reason is my fondness for showers. There are also surprisingly few places near the highway that are suited, in my opinion, to bush camping. I think if you got a bit further off the beaten track there would be more options. I sit on about 105k's as a general rule, a bit faster in WA and NT where the limit is higher.
Did you visit what must be the world's biggest collection of Vincent motorcycles in Jurien Bay? The owner, Ian, took my wife and I into his basement and he must have had about 45 of them down there.
@@richardmcgrath61 I did not, I had no idea such a place existed. However, if a strange man invited me down into his basement to view his “collection” I’d probably head for the hills.
Do you think that the reason those caravan parks don't answer their phone is because if they did and quoted their prices a lot of people would say bugger that and drive straight past the turn off. At $78 for a patch of dirt for 12 hours I know I would have.
I can only speculate but my feeling is they only want long term stays. From my meagre research it seems the typical grey nomad stays for 4 or 5 days in one spot and I think this is the business they are after. Scruffy one night motorcyclists are too much trouble.
@@abitofadetour7315 As a scruffy motorcyclist myself I think perhaps you are right. I have myself had some classic reactions when I have phoned ahead and booked into 5 star resorts and then turned up looking like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards.
Apparently it’s also Ex-muth and not Ex-mouth. I stand corrected. Australia place names are often oddly pronounced I’ve found, you should try wrapping your tongue around some of the Queensland aboriginal place names!
On re-reading I realise I’m being chastised for my spelling, which is somewhat mortifying as I pride myself on my spelling normally. I won’t let it happen again.
Mate can I get your advice. Been thinking of buying a Benelli trk502x or a Yamaha 950 - 1300cc cruiser. What would be the best bike for riding across Australia?
Just checked out the Benelli online. It's certainly well priced and looks the goods. Its a bit heavy at 213kg for a 500cc bike, but a lot lighter than most cruisers. My advice is simply this, you're going to encounter some dirt roads along the way, even if it's just to get to an interesting viewpoint or campground, and for this reason I reckon a bike that's comfortable with a bit of dirt is going to make the trip easier and more enjoyable. Comfort of the bike is the other big factor because you are going to spend a lot of time sitting on it in all kinds of weather and wind conditions. For me, I'd be looking at the Benelli or something similar like a DR650 or a KLR, these old school singles are popular for a reason. Maybe even the RE Himalayan which while its a bit gutless seems to get the job done, check out Joe Ryans channel where he rides one all over the place.
As a West Aussie I have to commiserate with the appalling value for money that WA represents. Personally once I am in the outback here I just free camp. Much better value, less crowded and better views. Also for WA the interior is better than the coast. Once you have seen one Coral Bay you have seen them all.
I’ll have to take your word on the interior being better than the coast but I can say the coast is spectacular. As for the value for money, it’s not great!
Gerday mate, Stramatterlimats, hummm, saw them in a movie with John Travolta plays a pilot who is stealing wmd's, his partner pilot is the good guy following a park ranger who calls out not to step where he just stepped, after all is explained to him 😢, his comment that with everything going on, now he has to watch where he steps because of "Endangered dirt". 😂, you gotta laugh 😂, and love it ❤, or you'll go mad.🎉.Enough nonsense, Peace Out. Wayne ✌
Pete is a vegetarian and he managed to find something to eat from Brisbane to Daly Waters and it probably gets a bit easier after that apart from between Katherine and Broome maybe but she’ll get by I reckon.
The drone footage is bloody marvelous. Most people wouldn't believe your soul purpose for this circumnavigation of OZ on a Honda was to see stromatolites but I do. 🪕
It wasn’t the sole reason but I have wanted to see them for a good long while and they were quite interesting is a low key way. Definitely worth the trip.
totally agree with your comments on Coral Bay.....couldn't get out of there quick enough
Might be different if you were towing an enormous caravan!

Absolutely mint location geographically speaking, but gee whiz, too many caravans for me.
I'm really enjoying your series. Impressed with your trusty stead. It hasn't missed a beat. Your rants are bang on by the way. Great editing.
Yes the VFR was as reliable as a Swiss watch. The rants are an acquired taste.

A cool ride, with some amazing photography. I'm guess there aren't too many free-camp places in WA? $78 for a gravel tent site? Wow!

Steve, I'm surprised you don't do some free bush camping. Anything to get away from screaming kids.
It just didn’t work out that way, and I’m partial to a shower at the end of the day, but yes, I take your point.
20 years ago coral bay was quaint. Now it’s gawdy and a bogans shangri la
It’s a bit of shame it’s such a scrappy sort of place because the natural beauty is off the charts.
