Lyrics:
I'm a walkin' down the street like Lucky Larue
Got my hand in my pocket I'm thinkin' 'bout you
I ain't hurtin' nobody
I ain't hurtin' no one
There's three hundred men in the state of Tennessee
They're waiting to die, they won't never be free
I ain't hurtin' nobody
I ain't hurtin' no one
Six million seven hundred thousand and thirty-three lights on
You think someone could take the time to sit down
And listen to the words of my song
At the beach in Indiana I was nine years old
Heard Little Richard singing "Tutti Frutti"
From the top of a telephone pole
I wasn't hurtin' nobody
I wasn't hurtin' no one
There's roosters laying chickens and chickens layin' eggs
Farm machinery eating people's arms and legs
I wasn't hurtin' nobody
I wasn't hurtin' no one
Perfectly crafted popular hit songs never use the wrong rhyme
You'd think that waitress could get my order
Right the first time
She's sitting on the back steps just shucking that corn
That gal's been grinning since the day she was born
She ain't hurtin' nobody
She ain't hurtin' no one
I used to live in Chicago where the cold wind blows
I delivered more junk mail than the junkyard would hold
I wasn't hurtin' nobody
I wasn't hurtin' no one
You can fool some of the people part of the time
In a rock and roll song
Fifty million Elvis Presley fans
Can't be all wrong
Mr. Prine was EXTREMELY UNDERRATED.
underrated? maybe by the kiddies...but who cares what they think?
well If you didn't "grow up" listening to him maybe you could write a letter to Dear Abby, and wear an illegal smile?@@markrush5013
He's the best in my book except maybe Dylan.
@@markrush5013 I know what you mean. I meant that he didn't get the recognition he should have. Even when I was a KID MYSELF, I liked this song. I thought it was pretty cool and still do.
What John Mellencamp said..."Losing John Prine is like losing Moses.
He stood on top of the hill and he gave us words of wisdom and truth.
John Prine and I wrote songs together and made a movie together.
We laughed together, and he spent many a lost weekend at my house.
John Prine’s name is written in the stars.
And we should all be happy that he has left us with such wonderful songs and records, just like Moses leaving tablets, that remind us what it is to be a good person and a great songwriter."
Respect to you BPS. So sorry for such a great loss, and the unfinished chapters.
thank you
I 💯 percent absolutely agree
love love this as the two Johns are my musical heroes -thanks for sharing
Saw JP many times and everything Mellencamp said is true. One of a kind
A good friend of mine was in prison and was playing Prine when other inmates began to encourage him to play more. He became a great 12 string guitarists before he was taken home by pancreatic cancer. Brian Brown was his name , from west central Ind. Lost Dogs was the name of his band.
Got my hand in my pocket thinkin of you. Only JP could write a line like that.
Roosters laying Chickens, Chickens laying eggs. Another JP classic line.
Great line. ❤❤
True
Sheryl Crow
"Six million ,seven hundred thousand and thirty three lights on,You think somebody could take the time to listen to the words of my song" that lyric along with the rest of the song is tight
Just Sitting in heaven writing songs with Jimmy Hendrix Tom Petty and Johny Cash I'd buy that album
RIP John Prine -- I loved this song, man
Love this song too.
He died? Btw this is the first song I heard from him
@@bigbootyjudy450 You ment to say "love" not "loved".
This is flat-out the coolest song ever, R I P John Prine you will be missed
Like lucky laroo
Thanks for your gifts to humanity
Music City and all of the music world is hurting tonight. RIP JP
Just want to say thank you for your post I'm still hurting and will be for a while Just wanted you to know you're not alone in the way you feel about John Prine
Been listening to John since the early 90s. I have often said he's the only best friend I have that I've never met. Love this man!
i aint lying i am religious but JP has gotten me thru
I’ve been listening to him since 1972 & it was a ‘love at 1st sight’ Kind of thing. Sam Stone & Flag Decal was the introduction ❤️❤️
I feel the same way about him. I've been listening to him since 1976. Hearing about him being sick with the virus was a punch in the gut.
Joe Tillman
Amen
I've been listening to him since 1970's on AM
25 years listening to this timeless track from the great "Lost Dogs & Mixed Blessings". It is so sad that this dreadful virus has taken such a talented musician from us all.
John Prine, R.I.P. Your music will never be forgotten.
One of his best albums. So many good tunes on it.
Not a bad cut on the whole album.
Ummm, smoking 2-3 packs a day for decades is what killed him. Heart disease.
@@papichulo5552 Another victim of the Covid psy-op
Nope. COVID killed him. He was still touring when the pandemic hit. He had more shows left in him that he would've played if not for that virus. His age, lifestyle, and medical history put him more at risk, but it was COVID that took him out in the end. 😔 Miss him so! ❤️
This is the first time I've heard this song, 5 beers in after I heard John died and I've got a new favorite. Thank-you and farewell John Prine.
Funny how fans pop up who total y forgot they once loved John's songs and then there's people like you who are being turned on xx what blessings he is receiving now for passing on his blessings while he was here...
It
Without question, for me, the epitome of a singer/song writer. I was lucky enough to see him in a very intimate setting. Leon Redbone opened! Amazing. I was so sad when he died. I'm still sad. This man was magic.
I became a John Prine fan in the 70's after hearing 🎶"there's a hole in daddy's arm where all the money goes"🎶 I was HOOKED "pun intended"😉
I wasn't expecting a tear rolling down as I found out he passed on my birthday April 7th but I wasn't surprised about tears. I felt I'd lost a lifelong friend. The Man is gone but his music lives on!
I introduced a friend and band leader to John and this song. Now he does it every show.
R.I.P.
Bought John a beer at the Station Inn in Nashville one evening. Regular guy. I told him i was a huge fan. He said Dang, countin Mama there's 3 of yall now! Later that night Boll Monroe visited and played and sang. Bedt evening i can recall...
I can only imagine 🤔
your not sitting at the top of a telephone pole,
listening to "Little Richard" singing tutti Frutti"..😏😉
Hard to accept the loss of any Legend,..😣much less 2 Legends so close😪😥 SO..it "helps" by knowing YoU were a Little Richard Fan too💞💯👏👏 Heavens been Blessed! RIP 🙏John Prine..RIP🙏..Little Richard..
(Thanks for putting Macon on the MaP)😉👏💯
God bless John Prine
Sending some good energy to John Prine, who is in critical condition...another tragedy in these crazy times.
Love to John always 😁😁
Seems a shame the official John Prine channel can't provide a higher resolution video of this awesome song!
This man was/is a lyrical genius. RIP John Prine. 💔
Gifted and funny
3 chords & the truth R.I.P John thanks for the songs
Love ole john
I ain't hurting nobody, says John Prine. I wish we all could say the same.
For me, John is the standard. Others should be compared to him.
So Long, John. We'll Miss Ya, Buddy.
I play this when I go in this bar I like to hit. It,s fun to watch the people walk up to look at the juke box to see whose singing. Love it
Even Bob Dylan was a big fan ... Doesn't get any better than that ....
I love that too
Kinda like your putting on a performance on I love to do that it can be extremely expensive at the right time
Can’t believe he’s gone now the world is a darker place one of a kind the one & only miss you John
Top notch American singer songwriter right here .
One of the very very best! R. I.P. John
I always imagine I live like a John Prine song. They play in my head like narration. Sometimes I am Lucky LaRue, Somtimes I am Darling Jim. His music is just a part of me.
Sometimes ya hate when a song keeps going through your head, never feel that with a John Prine song.
How can people come to this song & then not like it. The mind boggles. You surely know what you are likely to get with Prine. This is great, just rolls along.
FANTASTIC GROOVE
I know how can not like it. He ain't hurting nobody 😋
Listening to the songs of life from this man for 40 years and loving it
You got it James!
Same here
Us too, first time I remember hearing him was at our family cabin, back in the early '70's, saw him once, in Minneapolis, we both had tears in our eyes.
John made us better humans.

Enjoy that 9 mile cigg , John , you deserve to sit an enjoy....🚬🎶☮️
"I was 9 years old. Heard Little Richard singin Tutti Frutti from the top of a telephone pole"! The ECONOMY of words to paint such brilliant pictures across Time, what a treasure. He's been Scotch-Taping my head together for about 46 years now.
What a terrible loss. Hoping to see you soon, John.
That is my favorite line. Love singing it when I play it.
You know……..a legend never dies.
All your fans, family, and friends are hurtin today.
Rest in peace John
Rest in peace; love this song!🌞
He is always one of the best singer songwriters.
We are all so much poorer without you, my friend

Big time groove. Gotta tap my foot at every listen.
Praying for John and his family. He has gotten me through some hard times ❤️❤️❤️
We lost a good one. His music helps me a lot. Nanci Griffith & Iris Dement too.
If I had had a big brother, I'd have been happy if he would have been like John Prine.
Another treasure by Brother John...
Another masterpiece from John Prine is about real life.
I just heard this song on WFUV for the first time ever. Great song
My mom used to play this album all the time when I was a kid, and this was my first ever "favorite song."
Now I'm 20 and listen to John of my own accord. This song still makes me feel as "cool" as it did back then.
Folk music needed a transition to get into the mainstream of music, again. Yep!
I love this song from the time I heard it
Can you believe I’m hearing this song by the master for the first time?
I don't know why I thought of this song today. I haven't heard it in years. I used to be a maid at a motel, and I kept the TV's in the rooms on the country music station. This song played alot. Shuckin' that corn made me laugh.
Hello beautiful 👋 hope my message finds you in your best of mood?
John Prine has some of the best lyrics...this song is a gem.
Amazing song
My first and favourite Prine song. RIP, John!
how could anyone NOT love JP? :-D a TRUTH singer...by far one of the BEST of all time!!
A friend of mine turned me on to JP,he was singing samstone back in the 90's and it blowed me away, been listening to this man ever since!👍

Six Million seven hundred Thousand and thirty-three lights are now on for you
John will always be loved! ❤
Greatest storyteller of all my time!
I just read that John has been hospitalized in critical condition after contracting the evil and vile covid-19 virus. Prayers to John and his family...
This is breaking my heart....
Me too. I hope he can beat this thing!
I know, and it is breaking my heart as well. I don't see how he can beat it, unless they give him the drugs that are helping others.
Been bummed out all day. Long, long time fan.
Prayers for John I love his music 🎶 “He ain’t a hurtin nobody”
right no, right on , slide on thru
Rest in power, legend.
