The wife and I saw him at the Heights Theater (a listening venue) in Houston and he was remarkable. We talked with him after the show and took some pictures with him. He's really a genuine, humble, down to earth young man and what a tremendous talent. My favorite JRW songs are Cowboy and Canyon. Watched your review of one of my other favorites (Billy Strings) and it's nice to see we agree on a couple of talented artists.
Regardless of what the lyrics on the internet say, he is saying “You dried me on a wire…” sounds clear to me. Also works better in the imagery of the verse.
I was just trying to think of the best voices and the hardest notes to sing in Country music, and didn't even think of Joshua Ray Walker, but I don't know if there's any country singer I can think of with those kind of high notes. Like, opera has dudes who sing like that, so do some kinds of pop, so does metal, but who else in Country can hit that note on "Peace"?
I just stumbled across your channel through some of your Jason Isbell videos and have been loving what I’ve been binge watching so far. You’ve definitely earned a sub from me. I’m not sure how you feel about getting video requests from random commenters, but I would absolutely love to see you react to something from Gillian Welch/David Rawlings. Revelator, Caleb Meyer, and The Way It Will Be from Gillian, and Cumberland Gap and The Weekend from Dave are personal favorites, but I’d be absolutely ecstatic if you did videos on literally any of their songs. I’d also really love to hear your thoughts on some of Allison Russell’s songs. She’s another really big personal favorite of mine and has come out with a ton of awesome stuff in the last year or so.
@@SongwriterReacts Hmm…That’s really too bad about Allison. I know the UA-cam copyright stuff is a bit of an out of control issue for a lot of folks who do videos involving music analysis/criticism, which should theoretically be protected as fair use in most cases. I’m sure Allison herself and most of the artists like her that you tend to feature would be more than happy to have people like you talking about their music, but UA-cam’s flagging system creates an annoying barrier unfortunately. Have you ever tried to contest the blocked videos as being fair use?
Back to React. JRW is just one of those generational talents, but like others does not get the credit/due. It can happen though and maybe because someone watches this reaction and goes and checks him out.
This guy rules so much. I discovered him about half a year ago. I'd love to see him live but doubt he will make it to England. Maybe when I'm in the states visiting friends bect year I can line it up. Heartbreaking song. Love it as well as Boat Show Girl and Lot Lizard.
Who does Joshua Ray Walker remind you of?
Nobody, he is HIM! Haha
I relate too! Schellraiser 2023, one of my favorite sets ever.
Just a PERFECTLY written song. Gut punch, for sure!
Agreed! Hope you are well friend
@@SongwriterReacts Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! 💗

Well thanks so much for watching Laurel! I'm a huge GW/DR fan and I've tried to do Allison Russell songs but they always get blocked. Love all those!

If just one person hears it that needed it, worth it
I would love to see you react to David by Cody Jinks and If I Were The Devil by Colby Acuff. Love the videos Burt!!
Really appreciate it Kaleb!
