I use a modified happy planner. Unused pages are for taping down recipes for seeds etc. And lately I've been cutting out the catalog entries and pasting them in or adding the empty seed packets as a sort of historical document. Comments on other empty pages about germination failures, crop failures and approximate harvest yields. It's all very scrap booky
This was an incredibly helpful video! I sooo wish you had a 2024 version of this, but I totally understand that it’s a huge amount of work to creat this kind of thing. Goal is to have it all set up by the end of the weekend and start the actual planning of what goes where next. As I get older, I need to take tasks one at a time :)

I absolutely love MI Gardener and Bakers Creek for their heirloom seeds which I have grown for years. I do winter sowing so I will be starting some of my seeds this weekend and placing them outside alongside my garden. Your planner looks really nice.
The binder is a clever idea! I don't think I've personally seen anyone do that before. I've seen a lot of card catalog type. Mine are not organized at all, and I want to do better this year.
How about a section on the type of fertilizer that's best for different types of plants. This is my first year growing my own seeds.. some what successful so far and its thrilling....i got my first chick's this year too. Oh boy. All the tips i get from UA-cam are so wonderful.

Hi, I'm getting chicks in the mail for the first time and was wondering if someone who is experienced could tell me how old they should be when I get them shipped? I'm not sure if that makes sense, but how long after they hatch should I get them shipped?
Nice planner. I could never use those. Or a computer. Or a note pad. I've tried - doesn't work for me. I've been a musician all my life, and my mediocre success has been my improvisation skills. I also took the same approach in life to any paying career that I had to endure, (LOL). I apply the same feeling to my garden. It's all improv. BUT: It is improvised with the things that I eat mostly, with some embellishments here and there.
How does transplanting affect the planner? I wouldn’t know the exact harvest date. I’m a beginner gardener and have started with herbs from seed but plan on getting established veggie plants.
In my mind, I’m thinking if harvest says 60 days, it means 60 days from planting. Going from transplant date doesn’t make sense - that’s ignoring several weeks.

I had good success with Mary’s heirloom seeds , green beans. I’m up in Wisconsin and they did very good.
I love this idea. I like writing things down as well. But the notebooks I use end up being a jumbled mess and it's hard to find things. Thx for this.

That's good to know about the timeline and longevity of the seeds...would hate to throw away older seeds! Nice planner!
