      Usually highest tier GPUs run a little slower clocks (because they have the most working CUs etc. do generate more heat). And even 4090 can go over 3GHz. I have no idea how 3GHz is for him a huge deal. Especially when rDNA3 was planned to run stock over 3GHz and it is nerfed because they f*cked design in some way.

    With the recent rumors pointing to the 5070 essentially being a 4070 Ti Super with 12GB of VRAM, combined with the usual Ngreedia pricing, AMD has a real chance here, assuming RDNA4 gets there on features such as ray tracing (which I probably won't use but would be nice to have) and AI upscaling (which I will use on games that I can't run natively), and assuming AMD prices these well.
    At $500, I'd take it over a 4070 Ti Super cause those things are still expensive, and a 5070 Ti isn't going to be in the same price range.

    • @PCgamingbenchmarktime
      @PCgamingbenchmarktime 9 днів тому +2

      agreed, $499 IF it is that close to the 4080 would be tempting, if its anything over that though.....everyone will just go with the nvidia card lets be honest. Amd are always spinning their wheels with their poor pricing, i really hope they get it right though but a lot of people seem to think $600 would be fine to that performance.....AMd might actually try and charge more which would be a massive failure imo. they also have the second hand market to contend with, we dont know how FSR 4 will come fare compared to DLSS ( which will have even more improvements no doubt ) it will definitely be behind in RT, which i dont care about if its priced properly.
      Be interesting to see if Amd is stupid enough to stuff up another generation lol. i also doubt those performance claims will be realistic, i think it will be closer to the 4070ti super, in that case it would need to be priced even lower imo

    • @CHT1992
      @CHT1992 9 днів тому +5

      It's not going to be between 7900XT and XTX. It will compare to the 7900 GRE but it might trade blows with the 7900 XT in some cases as it will have newer technology. Why do i say this? Because they still have to sell the 7900XT and XTX models somehow, dropping them in value but not outright destroying them with the new product.
      If the 9070XT was 5% slower than the 4080, then it would mean the 7900XT card is f'ed, along with the GRE and 7800XT, all of these 3 cards would be massively impacted by the 9070XT.
      Ray tracing performance will be much better with the 9070 and XT cards.
      They wanted to make the 9070 and XT cards like 450 to 650 or something, this would explain them adjusting values on the 7900XT and XTX to be somewhere close to these values aswell.
      Example:
      -7800XT = drops down to 400-450 USD, currently around 475-550
      -9070 (~7800XT performance) = 450-500 USD, i feel like this one will be 50 USD more expensive than the 7800XT, offering similar performance but much better tech, i do hope they stick with 16gb VRAM on this one, otherwise its gonna be bad if it ends up with 12gb but it could also be a way of them pushing people to buy the XT variant instead, this would be a d*ck move from AMD for sure
      -7900 GRE = drops down to 50 bucks cheaper than 9070 xt, 550-700 currently
      -9070XT (slightly better than 7090 GRE, 10 to 15% faster than the 9070) = 500-600 USD, this one is most likely going to cost 100 USD more than the non XT variant
      -7900XT (~5-10% better than 9070XT in raster) = 550-650 USD, this one is currently sitting at around 650-750 USD. I can see its value being very close to 9070XT
      -7900XTX (~25-30% better than the 9070XT in raster) = ~700 USD, this one is currently sitting at 850+ USD
      So for this to make any sense, they need to make the 9070 XT priced similarly to the 7090 GRE, which came at the 550 USD MSRP. If they want to make a good impression on the market like intel did, then they would drop the value down a bit. But i don't see that happening unless nvidia pushes them to a corner with the 5070.
      This would also explain why the "8800XT" was canned and why AMD skipped high end GPUs this generation. The 8800XT or 9080XT, if it existed, it would make pricing on the 7900XT and XTX cards a big problem for nvidia as the new card would most likely trade blows with the XTX but at slightly over than half the price, which is insane.

      @@CHT1992 what is this mini market logic.. You think if they could sell 1.000.000 n48 cards to grow their market share they would rather not do it cause that would hurt their sales on 5.000 n31.
      If this card is not as fast as 4080 is cause they cant make it, not cause they want to sell 80cu n31s (7900gre) for 450$ 😆
      If rdn4 scales like the past monolithic dies of rdna2 and 3 the performance will be 20% faster than 7800xt, just shy of 7900xt. Now someone would think they maybe do something better this time, but lets see. It would require at least something faster than 20gbps memory though 😒
      This cards price will be decided only based on its performance compared to 4070ti/5070 and every bit of performance is crucial at that level, cause changes the level of perception to the product:
      -If it is 20% faster than 5070 which this leak is assuming (within 5% of 4080), than the price could be 600$ and will sell a lot cause it would be marketed as "superior to 5070 in every way" or closer to 5070ti for the same price as 5070.
      -If it is what I expect ~5% faster than 5070 and 5% slower than 7900xt it won't even sell well @500$, cause even if it is like +10% of the 5070 it would be still marketed as "similar" and all will neglect the 12gb vram and spend 100$ more to get the "similar" nvidia, like they always do.
      -If the perf is similar to GRE (which tbh I can't even imagine how they could achieve to make it that bad), this card will need to be 400$ at most.

      @@avatarion Well yes, if 9070XT (or whatever it ends up beenig called) was a 7900xtx class product. But it isnt. Its like 7800xt class product. And remember, we had this before. R9 Fury X was faster than RX480 (even buffed 290X called 390X was faster). Interesting part of RDNA4 is, with topclass modular RDNA4 of the table and midrange class gpu now to be the fastest offering, what AMD thinks, that NVidia has in midrange. Obviously at design stage, AMD expected NVidia to go big this generation and go big with their top model (thats why there was that big modular RDNA4 project), but also with midrange 5070 class. So we are most likely getting same-ish performance from these cards. Personally i would say, that is the real answer why we got that last minute leak about RDNA4 beeng on level of 7900GRE. AMD just put this info out there in hopes of conforting NVidia, so they would not reconsider their pricing for 5070 class. But i could be wrong and those benchmark were actually correct and that 7900xt to 7900xtx estimate was just target for midrange RDNA4 and they didnt get there. But i think that, if midrange RDNA4 doesnt have some specific hardware problem (it shouldnt - its monolitic die), software controll (drivers) sould be much easier to do than what it was on big RDNA3, where presented performence was not what what we got in final product, because of drivers.

    The 9070XT is simply an overclocked 64 compute unit 800 class GPU. Its going to struggle to keep up with the 7900XT in pure raster IMO, especially at 4K. AMD has lost it's mind if they think its worth $650 as rumors suggest.

      Potentially yes, but we have no idea. If it's clocked 10% higher with 6.66% more CUs they'd need a 23.65% IPC improvement to reach +45% performance. In the leaked benchmarks that we saw, the 9070 XT was only 14% faster than the 7800 XT - that actually makes less sense than it being close-ish to 4080 performance considering it has 6.66% more CUs.
      Do we really think that in terms of boost clock and architectural IPC improvements combined that AMD only obtained +7% performance?

      Lol... Everyone here has seen the leaked benchmark... Clearly you haven't seen the clock speed leak from yesterday, nor it's analysis; else no one except for you has the inside scoop, clearly. I would bet that the CU's+clock+RDNA gen pieces of information are legit, and that the benchmark is what is untrue - since both leaks being real, at the same time, makes zero sense. Regardless I do not know anything for sure, obviously, and this is just a fun speculation game we are playing while we wait. Last time around the leaked benchmarks showed like 60% of their actual scores, which further reinforces that the benchmarks are the fake news. (likely to get nvidia to misprice their offerings, or underestimate competition, etc). Regardless; you are dumb - which is why you score poorly on standardized testing, rank poorly in competitive games, and are bottlenecked by your subpar intelligence - necessitating no further gpu upgrade at this time.

    A nerfed bios/driver would make sense. When board partners start making and testing the cards, the potential for leaks greatly increases. If AMD wants to keep the perfomance a secret, a nerfed bios would allow for the cards to be tested and the performance can be compared to AMDs numbers with the same bios. I know its some wishful thinking but we have already heard rumors claiming higher performance.
    Also if the highest end card is a x700xt/x070xt, hopefully thats a sign that its going to be priced at the lower end of whats speculated. Calling it a x700xt whilst charging x800xt prices would just be an unnecessary blunder, but then this is AMD.

      Hardware issue with artifacting something in the design did it when it was spined out at TSMC. RDNA3.5 Fixes it in handhelds, which are faster than regular based RDNA3. The 7900XTX doesn't Artifact because they removed some performance from it (-30%). It has to do with its RDNA3's dual issue pre-clock & combination of shader/RT cores problem which included the schedular. the driver fix could not remove the aritfacting.

    $600 would be a terrible price. who would buy that over the 5070? it will just be another repeat of the last few generations. that would be hilarious lol. if it can almost match the 4080 ( highly doubt that, the specs dont look capable enough and the bandwith is pretty limited, cant see it being as good at 4k) then $499 would be an OKAY price. if it really is closer to the 7900XT and GRE it needs to be under $449. Amd is supposed to be targeting marketshare by being aggressive, that would be a huge fail to price it at $599 lol
