Making it Rain: A Scottish Basketball Story tells the story of the sport's surprisingly deep Scottish roots.
Alton Byrd and Bobby Kinzer look back on the fierce rivalry between Edinburgh and Falkirk that helped spark a golden era for the sport in the 1980s. We hear about Robert Archibald’s journey against the odds to become the first Scottish player in NBA history. And Olympian, Kieron Achara, recounts the success of the national team at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
This programme was originally broadcast in May 2019.

Man! growing up in the 80's born in 82 I never seen Scottish basketball on the tv in Scotland i'm fae Grangemouth right next to Falkirk and never heard of these guys, I wish I had, I didn't really get into it until high school. I've been to coasters loads when I was younger and not once did anyone mention these classic games or even that basketball was played there.

Glasgow Rocks are a hell of a team. They always take Flyers apart and break my heart.

Good wee film that. Grew up on the same street that Bobby Archibald and Tucker Johnson lived on and they arranged coaching sessions for us kids as well as to meet the players like Alton and Ralton. Also got us free tickets for games. It was a great time and they were great guys. Robert was about 5 years younger than me but I remember him as a nice, happy, wee kid. Had no idea he'd made it so successfully in his career until I heard about his tragic end earlier this year. Sad news. RIP wee man
