Found this article very useful. Gave me some knowledge as I accompany my Dad tomorrow am when they tell us the results of the PET and Bone Scans he had done. My Dad had a PSA of 17 13 years ago and went forward with Prostatectomy then this year his blood test came back with a score of 14. Two years ago it was a 5, don't know why the Dr didn't see something then! Anyway wish us luck and thank you for the good that you're doing.

Hi Dr, I have a high indigo prostate ca with rectal lymp node metastases. . The radiation oncologist suggested a Volumetric Modulated Arch Therapy, however my colorectal surgeon pushback because I have fistula that maybe aggravated..
My question is do you have patient with similar condition or have issues in the colon and underwent a VMAT procedure?
Hope you find time to answer my clarifications..
Thank you very much and Godbless..

I'm very thankful for Dr. Scholz' informative videos. But how do I find a 'center of excellence' where I will receive treatment from those who are experts at treating prostate cancer?

I had post surgical radiation of my pelvic lymph node (3 yrs after surgery) and radiation of the entire pelvic area but no ADT. PMSA scan showed the beginnings of metastatic cancer in my right lymph node. Prior to radiation my PSA was .38. Two months after radiation my PSA was .25. Will my PSA keep going down in the coming months as the radiation kills the cancer cells or is .25 as good as it gets?

What are the stats for high indigo proven metastasis in the pelvic lymph nodes (but not further) No treatment life span, radiation only life span, radiation and androgen depravation life span?

There are a few studies looking at ADT alone versus ADT with radiation, but the overall survival varied greatly based on the number of lymph node metastases, the individual tumor biologies, and other individual factors (not sure about radiation alone). It is still considered curable for some men at that point, so disease specific survival could be indefinite. I do not think there would be prospective data on no treatment because that would be hard to get through an ethics board, but it is possible. Our helpline might know of something like that. @@ThePCRI Thank you for the reply. I thought no treatment was called "observation". I have seen studies where observation is compared to radiation alone vs radiation combined with ADT. I thought some in the observation group used a vegan diet. One study showed no difference between radiation alone vs radiation plus ADT.

Can an 87 year old man, my father have radiation with hormone therapy or is he too old? His cancer is in the node a surrounding the prostate but not in the bones, but still waiting on one more test. An xray yesterday on the spine.

Shall I be able to maintain my ability to work when I am kept on ADT due to high indigo stage, (enhanced, lupron with zytiga and low dose prednisone) and on taxotere? What should I expect?I am s\p RP and pelvic IMRT. Thank you.

It varies from patient to patient. Some people are able to and others are not--maybe depending on individual biology or pre-existing health. One of our patient advocates on our free helpline might be able to provide you with information on how to mitigate some of the side effects of those treatments. You can find our contact information here: pcri.org/helpline

Well it is kate 2023 and all my doctor has done is just lupron injections that have made me so sick it is not worth living. Cancer is in my lymph nodes up to my diaphragm level. Sure do not feel they are doing all they can like you suggest.
Palliative nurse just keeps saying I need to go on hospice. Live alone at 75+. Son and brother live very far away and they just know my wishes for the end. This seems to be a slow painful way to die
