- (1) Connie Stevens introduces the show, but will end up having to leave and be replaced by Betsy. (2) Jimmy Lucas of San Antonio appeared on "To Tell the Truth" immediately preceding (as originally broadcast). "I am the United States yo-yo champion." He performs tricks with a top as well.

What a nice young man that yo-yo champion. There are very few young people today who come anywhere close to this young man’s personality, maturity and politeness.
I just think manners have gone by the wayside. Jimmy's "yes, sir; no, sir; yes, ma'am; no ma'am"... you just don't hear that today as a part of NORMAL responses for kids.
graperonto Also the coat and tie. I’d love to know what became of him.
@@DottyGale8, he probably ended up a very respectable gentleman - I hope so.
@@friendlypiranha774 I agree 😊
It’s a sad commentary isn’t it.
That was how we were commonly brought up in those days.
What a cutie. And so polite!
It's funny how much yo-yos have changed compared to tops. Tops have evolved, of course, but the tricks he did are still pretty relevant. Yo-yos, on the other hand, are so different now (wider, ball bearings, etc.), and the style is way faster. The yo-yo tricks he did are all *beginner* tricks now.
those tricks are pretty tough to pull off on stage with that narrow gapped fixed ... still impressive
Love the cross-promotion with To Tell the Truth!
Could you post the To Tell The Truth Episode. I can't find it.
What a personable young man.
Bummer that episode of To Tell the Truth is not available for viewing. Almost all the other original prime-time episodes have been uploaded for YT.
Keith Idota imagine if it was the other way around, and the I’ve got a secret episode was lost and the to tell the truth episode survived. “To find out what my secret is, tune in to I’ve got a secret” episode is lost can’t tune in and would never know what their secret is.
Toys have sure evolved over time.
Jimmy also appears in home movie footage from the 1962 yo-yo championships:

These days, if a kid's toy doesn't cost $1000, they whine.
Sad. 😔
Not my experience. You must be hanging out with a faster -- or richer -- crowd than me.
@@timl.b.2095 Not a richer crowd than I, but have seen kids pull complete tantrums if they don’t get the high dollar phones they wanted for Christmas and their parents prank them with cheap ones.
