How to make a Liquid Soap Base using a cake of soap or soap flakes

- How to make liquid soap base using either a cake of soap or lux soap flakes. This makes about a litre of base. It is so cheap and such fun to make!
You will need:
- 1 cup Lux flakes or a cake of grated soap of your choice
- 4 cups water
- 1 tbsp vegetable glycerine
1. Bring to boil and stir well until above has dissolved.
2. Leave to set over night.
3. Next day, whisk to remove any lumps to achieve a lovely gel
consistency.
4. Store in labelled container

And of course don't forget.... you can add your fav essential oil while beating. I use a little eucalyptus oil or sometimes Dettol or other disinfectant. ❤️️😘🙏Namaste🙏

Hi Sydney, you can go forth and mixed up and blend whatever your heart desires. What I used was all I had on hand the day I was creating this. All you need to do is ensure the liquid quantities are similar. Keep me posted with your progress. Kind regards Astar

Will the equipment retain a soapy taste, though? Would I need to set it aside for soap making only?
I use a stainless steel pot, cleans right out. It's soap, after all.

Hello Louise, thank you for your message. Once the soap has melted down, leave it to cool overnight. I keep mine on the side of a turned off stove to become cold. I should really have said set it aside on the bench and in the morning give it a good beat to turn it into a smooth liquid. Sorry I didn't make this very clear. Kind regards Astar
