My Girlfriend and I started playing this today on recommendation of this review. We generally do not play many board games, but this channel and video really motivated us to take a chance on it. We just finished playing the month of April after a 5 or 6 hour play session. Think we have a new hobby in board games thank you!
Wow, what an amazing way to be introduced to the hobby! Setting the bar really high with your first--it'll be hard to beat that (although Season 2 is pretty brilliant). Welcome to the cult--errr, I mean, CLUB!
"The worst ever year in the Center for Disease Control's history"...until 2020. Am I twisted to want to play this at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic???
A friend whom I finished Pandemic Legacy with last week, missed the "I am making this up" part at 5:20. He was waiting the whole game for speedboats to arrive and when they did not come, he assumed they were in package 8. I may - and I am not making this up - have laughed at him. Great review by the way. Awesome game. Can't wait for season 2.
I just want to document this here as for this was THE video that convinced me to buy the game in the first place. Today my father and I (59YO & 19YO respectively) just finished Season 1 after a 4-5 day long marathon of the game. We lost 3 games. Specifically May, July & November. We achieved the best ending in the game. And overall had one of the most stressful and incredible times playing a board game in my life to this point. When it started, I would have given the game a 9/10. By May the game was rough on its difficulty and would have given it a 6-7/10. By the end it came full circle back to a 9. This game is incredible. It has some of the highest highs and the lowest lows you can feel in a Co-Op game. Thank you Dad for being my Medic who helped me save the world. And thank you Matt Leacock, Rob Daviau & you Quinns for letting me experience such a masterpiece. Truly, the worst and yet best year in the CDCs history. And one day I want to do it all over again with my kids...
im here from the kings dilemma review. years ago i bought pandemic legacy on your reccomendation and played a couple games with my family, but i didnt remember altering the board. thats because we were using it to play vanilla pandemic. when i have a dedicated gaming group, we might break out the stickers.
Pandemic itself is my favourite board game. This seems like an excellent idea to magnify the intensity. Shame I don't have a group to play it with these days.
Me and my friends are playing this game right now for the first time, and there is something almost chilling about it in the current world-state. To suddenly have a disease we cannot cure, that mutates faster than we can do anything about it, with cities rioting and people panicking. Hard to tell if I just described a game of Pandemic Legacy or real life. Even one of the diseases in our game, the one that mutated, has a name surprisingly close to Covid.
I got the Pandemic 10th Anniversary set for Father’s Day. Knew nothing about the game. Via Skype we played with another team. It’s the most intense , exciting thing I’ve done in a gaming capacity in a fair few years. I’d been introduced to “modern” board gaming by “Ticket to Ride”, “Deep Blue” and “jump drive”. PANDEMIC though, definitely my favourite of the bunch. Maybe because we’re playing during an ACTUAL pandemic..it may have enhanced the experience..but it truly was brilliant. Watching this video now.. holy hell..this looks AMAZING.
Good news everyone! My friend and I just finally finished the last month of Pandemic Legacy Season 1 (we started early in the year 2020). So...you know, sorry again about this whole "Jumanji situation". It was definitely a more immersive experience than we expected. Should all go back to normal now.
In other words, you're saying this is what i've secretly dreamed of for years? A board game that not only has meaningful, decision/event-colored continuity between games...but that one ups my own fantasy and declares there's similar continuity between /expansions/, to the extent that it can be called a "campaign" as much as a "series"? Sweet jesus board game devs. Take a break. You people have to be stressed, what with how you're clearly, at this point, garnering inspirations from 25/8 consecutive years mainlining Spice. I get it. Sets the mind in motion. You "mind" giving your motion a vacation? Because the printing press where I'm going to get all this money isn't quite in yet. PS Artistic props on presenting mild spoilers as something quarantine worthy. I know dozens of games that never come close to that level of thematic integrity, and you knocked it out the of the park in a REVIEW.
Coming back to this video after playing this game, and being able to guess what month he’d played the game up to when recording by the missing punchboards, and seeing what Southeast Asia looks like with all those unstable cities lined up in a row… what the hell happened there 😂😂 dear god
This game will kick your ass and make you say thank you. You will regularly have no-win choices like stopping a major outbreak at the cost of having a city fall elsewhere. Our group watched helplessly as Africa went completely down the toilet almost immediately. By the time we won the campaign, Asia and South America were half gone, and there was trouble elsewhere. But it's *_so. Much. Fun._* 10/10 must buy
Legacy contains the required components to play the original game so that you can do a couple of run-throughs to learn the game before you begin the Legacy aspect.
I really think choosing the right teammates is more important in co-op games than anything else. I've played many games where I make %95 of the moves because my teammates have no suggestions.
Hey quick question I'm new to this channel how often do you use the phrase "dollop of bacteria infected cream"? God help me I was eating and it reminded me of the dinner scene from Braindead...
You can play standard base game Pandemic (minus a few roles/event cards) with the Legacy components if you only wanna buy one. It's a great game (and my #1) that only gets better with Legacy.
seriously, so it contains pretty much pandemic and also the campaign itself? In that case, no point to buy pandemic itself if planning to play pandemic legacy s1?
I think so. The only "problem" is that the campaign will permanently change your board of pandemic legacy, so if you decide to start the campaign, you won't be able to play the base game. And I guess you can't also add the expansions of Pandemic too.
Before you start playing the legacy campaign you can play it as vanilla Pandemic and add in the expansions if you'd like. Once you start the campaign it will add its own twists and extras, but you will not be able to use those other expansions.
"Quarterbacking" -- like in (American) football mykindofmeeple.com/quarterbacking-board-games/#:~:text=Quarterbacking%20in%20board%20games%20is%20where%20one%20person%20in%20the,person%20actually%20playing%20the%20game.
I appreciate the commitment to the bit, but it might have been a good idea to remove the mask at some point so you can actually hear what you are saying
I'll actually say I found it was. I was pretty meh on the original game, I played it once and couldn't see any reason to play it again, the moves seem obvious to me and there was little in terms of actual choice (I'll do this thing that will help a bit, or I could do this thing that will help a lot. Hmm... difficult choice.) Then I played Pandemic Legacy with my wife and it is the most enjoyable gaming experience I've had. Right from the first game decisions mattered in more than one way each, sometime unpredictably. It stopped being a game of making the obvious decision and became a game of making incredibly interesting decisions. I've regretted buying the original Pandemic, but I've never regretted buying Legacy.
I agree with Martin D. I couldn't be bothered to play vanilla Pandemic, but I'm playing through Season 1 of Pandemic Legacy a second time *and* season 2 a first time. I just wish my friends had more time to play!
As a person who has pandemic as their favorite board game and have had it for a long ass time I'm probably not going to he best person to give an opinion but- Just yes Totally yes If normal pandemic is like a 10/10, then legacy is like a 20/10 And I haven't even finished January
Not without a lot of hard work and having all the twists and turns spoiled for yourself. If you want a re-usable copy, I'd recommend getting a 2nd copy and trying to convert it after you've done a full campaign with your original copy. You can check boardgamegeek.com for some pretty good write ups on how to convert it to a re-usable copy.
This seems a major oversight to me. I think most, in choosing to replay, would accept they are already aware of plot spoilers, they just want to replay the game. Why deny them that by deign of poor product design choices? I'd love to give this a go, but paying £50 for what is essentially a one time consumable is out of the question for me. Besides boardgames have rocketed in cost recently. But that's another story, I guess.
I was thinking the same. Second time thru, the surprises will be gone. But still, it won't play out the same way as first play thru. It's a shame they don't make it easier to reset.
JoaLoft but the campaign is 12-24 games. Its not just a one off but several connected games. I thought about replayability, but after I was done with the campaign I had played it more than I replay most of my games.
You're missing out. It's easily the best game I've ever played. Friends and I played over the course of about 18 months, and now we've started season 2. It's phenomenal.
JoaLoft how many games do you own that you’ve played more than 15 times? I own about 70 games and have only played 15+ times on about 5 of them. Of course I have high hopes when I buy any game, but the numbers don’t lie.

"The worst ever year in the Center for Disease Control's history"...until 2020. Am I twisted to want to play this at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic???
We are all twisted
We've been playing it all through quarantine, it's great
Just bought my copy 🤷♂️
It's a Dr. Fauci simulator. Oops, looks like my funding just got cut...
Playing all the legacy games has been the best thing I've done in the pandemic.
I mean, the speedboats kind of made sense... for a minute. so I'm not too surprised he thought theybwere in the game.
Played it last year. Loved it! Highly recommend it. COVID-19 brought me back to watch this review again! Thank you Quint. =)
Have you played the covid pandemic scenario
This review is so good, that years after finishing Season 1 and 2 I still come back and watch it just for fun.

Got any mates yet

You must’ve started season 2 or something!
@@WillTung lol We definitely did. Oops.
"It doesn't matter, they don't work for the CDC anymore. Don't think about it, you still got a job to do."
So cold and beautiful. Well said.
Mankind: We have finally cured and eradicated COVID-19!!!
God: This was only game 1 of COVID Legacy.
Simply brilliant review. simply. brilliant.

HotaruZoku Uhm, ahktually, it is the Juice of Sapho that “sets the mind in motion”... 🙄🙊

About to buy this game in 2023 and just checking it out. Damn! This channel was good
This game will kick your ass and make you say thank you.

10/10 must buy
Oh, this was recorded before COVID, lol
Oh my gosh I need to find a group of people to play this with. Can we mail order board game friends yet?
Mikayla McGunagle if one could I’d be down to play with you haha
I must know more about what was going on in the background at 2:50
Your videos are absolutely excellent. A great asset to the boardgaming community!
2021 and this game is more relevant than ever.
Jesse..
We need to cook.
Looks great. I got Sea Fall the other day and love it... so this is next on the list ;)
I'm still unnerved that Quinns apparently didn't use a single starting Research Station upgrade and has gotten 2 scars on his Medic
so it's 2020 simulator?
Is it advisable to learn Pandemic before starting a game of Pandemic: Legacy, or does it make any diffrence?
Legacy contains the required components to play the original game so that you can do a couple of run-throughs to learn the game before you begin the Legacy aspect.
Dagens24 Oh cool. thanks for the heads up.
Love SU&SD Outro music.
Why was this suddenly recommended to me? 🤔
Great game to play with your family while you shelter in place from the roving bandit gangs hoarding hand sanitizer and toilet paper.
I really think choosing the right teammates is more important in co-op games than anything else. I've played many games where I make %95 of the moves because my teammates have no suggestions.
Well this game aged well
Wow great review! I guess if I actually play it'll be clear why so much of the board was covered up.
“The worst year in CDC history” oh, 2020?
This video aged well xD
I’m confused. Is this an ongoing game for months to years? It cant be played again / start again like a normal boardgame?
Justin Merithew oh ok thanks!
Hey quick question I'm new to this channel how often do you use the phrase "dollop of bacteria infected cream"?
God help me I was eating and it reminded me of the dinner scene from Braindead...
Epic video review and even better ending. Thank you!!
I bet you are glad to have that PPE right about now
So should one just skip getting Pandemic and go straight to Legacy? (Could that be overwhelming at first?)
You can play standard base game Pandemic (minus a few roles/event cards) with the Legacy components if you only wanna buy one. It's a great game (and my #1) that only gets better with Legacy.
I’m just curious to see what he said not to do before i had a server 405 error at the end. sigh.
The end was great.
In case someone still checks the comments here:
Can this be used as the Pandemic base game as well?
Yes, until you start stickering it.
Shut Up & Sit Down cool, thanks. I think I’d like to learn the base game before getting into legacy.
You can practice on the board with the basic rules until you're ready to start the Legacy part of the game.
seriously, so it contains pretty much pandemic and also the campaign itself? In that case, no point to buy pandemic itself if planning to play pandemic legacy s1?
I think so. The only "problem" is that the campaign will permanently change your board of pandemic legacy, so if you decide to start the campaign, you won't be able to play the base game. And I guess you can't also add the expansions of Pandemic too.
Excellent board game review. Subscribed.
Can you use the pandemic expansions to it? I like the look of the In The Lab expansion.
This game is surprisingly relevant now.
Brilliant review. Captures the drama perfectly. Thanks.
Love it!
damn this looks like a masterpiece
Great review. Thanks for the help.
awesome review!
After what´s happening now, I might got and buy it!
I'll have to buy this in the new year! Game looks incredibly fun. :)
“no spoilers” (shows spoiler at end)
how DARE you sir. how dare you. risk. is. a game. i played. ALOT, as a kid...
Sure, but nowadays there are games that are just better. Such as all the other versions of Risk.
Can you add any expansions like in the lab?
Before you start playing the legacy campaign you can play it as vanilla Pandemic and add in the expansions if you'd like. Once you start the campaign it will add its own twists and extras, but you will not be able to use those other expansions.
I would love to play Pandemic games but I have nobody to play with - like nobody 🤷🏻♀️
Could you try to get on Tabletop Simulator or something like it?
After u play through pandemic legacy are u left with playable version of the game that is played similar to the standard pandemic?
Nope
😕 seems like that should have been designed in
It can be played as the standard pandemic before you start the campaign, so you can get your fill first I suppose.
What’s quarter marking?
@3:14, Quinns explains: "Experienced players telling less experienced players what to do."
"Quarterbacking" -- like in (American) football

R u single?
Fun
How dare you insult risk.
#life advice
I appreciate the commitment to the bit, but it might have been a good idea to remove the mask at some point so you can actually hear what you are saying
Two fewer. I'm sorry =(
What if you really, really disliked regular Pandemic? If you think Pandemic is kind of a crap board game, is Legacy different enough to be worth it?
docpepperclassic probably not
Thanks for the feedback.
I'll actually say I found it was. Just yes
Totally yes
If normal pandemic is like a 10/10, then legacy is like a 20/10
And I haven't even finished January
Is there a way to make it back to factory setting?
turn it off and turn it on again
none what so ever. I've only played 2 games so far and I can already say .... worth the price. go out and buy it
Not without a lot of hard work and having all the twists and turns spoiled for yourself.
