Why no comparison? It was the last 4.2 td engine toyota made and the last 4.2 td engine nissan made? Regardless of technology. They were still being put in cars around the same year? I don’t think the 1HDFT is any less of a comparison than the FTE…. Alot big power multivalves are running a mechanical pump
@@joshbell7304 Comparison in terms of a 'level playing field' or close to it. A TD42 swap has less potential in terms of output than an FT/FTE. Sorry i didn’t know we were talking “level playing field” some would argue that a forced induction ls is not “level” to a barra being that one has alot more displacement than the other…. and as for the price of a conversion. Well I wasn’t necessarily talking about conversions. Say a hdj100 v a series 4 td42 patrol or something along those lines… Just something i thought would be cool to see. I’ve got a barra in a 64’ F100 street truck right now. And I’ve been piddling the idea of eventually building a matching 4wd version of the same truck. ( I saw a tan one in the background at the end)
Never owned a Barra, but.... a reliable 400HP turbo 1FZ, cost me considerably more than a reliable 650HP supercharged LS3. The RPM torque window of entertainment, is much better in the LS, 4500rpm(2500-7k) of fun, vs 2500rpm(3500-6k) in the turbo. My advice, drive both, before you commit.
drag race should have been done twice with you swapping sides on seconds run. barra looked like she had a rough track. from memory, green tops(gas motor) are forged internals. thats why all the boost boys look for them i'd personally choose barra over LS as they are very capable of power and they are cheap as hell for parts or a complete engine. can find them between $300-$500. most people are asking a few grand for an LS. also turbo kits are cheap compared to a SC. but the LS sounds amazing.
Great Video.Well done on the originality of the content.I have a 1994 Toyota 80 GXL with a LS1.It was converted about 5 years ago.I used the original A440 auto as i rang toyota and the engineer said an A440 will handle the torque of the LS1.And there was a 77kg weight loss difference between the 2 engines as the LS1 was alloy.the old toyota engine was a petrol.Anyway Well Done.
Sorry to burst your bubble Sam but "the tractor pull " was invented in Australia. Not quite the way you've done it but racing tractors towing set weight through mud. It started in Quambatook, (I hope that's spelt right) in the 70's.

@@chrisb178 do they also swap those LS V8s just because of their greater power and torque delivery and tuning potential? Compared to the diesels in GUs that would need heavy modifications and tune?
