    Eternal Night is such a contrast to new beginning. In New Beginning, you go through the whole game trying to stop Cynder, and you succeed, with a happy ending. In Eternal Night it's different: while saving the world is once again a priority, Spyro is looking for answers. And this music just conveys the story so well: A place at the edge of the world itself where Spyro found the answers he was looking for...but they weren't what he wanted. So he strayed from his intended destiny, and despite everything, he failed. He failed to stop Malefor from returning.
    Because not all endings are good ones.

      And because of this, when Spyro returns to the world, he finds it in chaos… in a war where it seems like the forces of light are fading… furthermore, Spyro lost his ability to control the flow of time… there was no returning from this… he needed to face up to his mistakes… along with Cynder. Much like Aang in Book 3… or Luke Skywalker in Return of the Jedi… Spyro must contend with his failure in Eternal Night… making this chapter of the trilogy a tragedy in that Spyro failed to stop the very bloodshed he’d have to witness in Dawn of the Dragon.

      You know, most people say the gameplay is tedious, and just above annoying, but the story says otherwise, I've always loved the legend of Spyro combat flow, in every arena, the music conveys those battles and it makes you feel like your a part in each chapter of the story, even tho the game sends hundreds of enemies in some levels such as the pirates near the arena and fleet, also malefors fortress, the first arena, then the Viking arena with the riders, then the last arena with the last ape defence line to gauls throne room, but let me just say....it's always been so much fun as a child, and coming back to it....I feel....so relieved of playing it again, hands down, the best series of Spyro I've seen come to think about it, even tho it was rushed, the first hands down the best, eternal night I found my favorite due to how the story changes from heroic to tragic, a huge twist, but then in dawn of the dragon, I hated that one due to it's combat change, limitations and how the story proceeded, and WHAT HAPPENED TO THE APES, they were just....gone, but other then that, I'd love a reboot to this trilogy, but the soundtracks....they need perfect...cause that's one of the legend of Spyros key factors....the story, combat flow, and music

      @@chancelangone9727 I know this comment is 7 months old, but the eternal night had a handful of levels where I was genuinely confused on what to do/where to go to progress. The bosses were also 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 hard to beat compared to the rest of the game, but I'm not the best at video games so that can be taken with a grain of salt. With my experience, I would label it as the game with the most flawed progression, but calling anything the "most flawed" sounds like you're hating on it, which I'm not. I much preferred the elemental training levels in eternal night over the first game, and the average combat was definitely better than all the button mashing in the third game.

    I used to have the game run all night with this music playing while i slept. It was so calming and it induced pleasant dreams for me. Aaaaand then my little brother wanted to play "fix it" with my ps2 and smashed it to pieces with a hammer that was light enough for his four year old arms to pick up but heavy enough to break it. In return I red ringed his Xbox 360 just to spite him cause at 16 I was petty as hell and held a grudge against him for destroying my only escape.

      @@thefierycharmeleon164 You are my person, seriously... R&C 2 was my very first video game ever, back a very, veeery long time ago, and Eternal Night was not only my first Spyro game, but also one that influenced me greatly... I wouldn't give those games away for a fortune and life of bliss, by all means... The nostalgia is very real with both of them, especially since both of those franchises are heavy not only in soundtrack, of which each is absolutely unforgettable, but also landscape, through which both impacted my imagination on so many levels and gameplay, being just challenging enough for me not to destroy my Dualshock (ehm, Jak II and III, ehm), and for me not to get bored playing them... Anywho, easily some of the best pieces of games I've ever played, be it because of atmosphere, or anything else these games had to offer, and they exist as living proof, that graphics are not everything in a video game, despite that mentality reigning supreme nowadays... Those games will always hold a special place in my heart... Rock on, bro!

      What console did you have it for? I had it for ps2 and my controls weren't delayed, then again i haven't played the Wii version so I couldn't say if it's better on the Wii or ps2.

    • @thefierycharmeleon164
      @thefierycharmeleon164 4 роки тому +3

      As someone who played this game on the ps2, the game never delayed in the controls, nor anything else. And I personally really like the level design. And this level here was the highlight of that for me.
      Edit: Oh, and for my opinion on the difficulty. I honestly think people have overblown on how hard the game actually is. It can get unfair and brutal at times absolutely, but I think it's actually pretty good overall. But, the forgiving difficulty of A New Beginning on the other hand is a different story. When you die in that game, the enemies won't respawn, meaning, no matter how sucky you are at the game, you'll get eventually, and just boring.

    • @bruhSaintJohn
      @bruhSaintJohn 4 роки тому +3

      Playing this on ps2, like many said - it gets pretty hard at certain points, but nothing impossible. Especially if you played the first game, and had enough practice in the first levels (for example, i've managed to completely upgrade the fire breath in the ice level, at the section with lightning tower and a catapult, enemies just keep respawning)
      So yeah, combat difficulty is alright. But platforming, omg it's so bad and unforgiving, it ruins the game. It will not tolerate just being okay or good, it requires perfection at times. Especially when it comes to gliding and double jumping. Pressed it too early - and you just hit the platform with your nose and slide down. Too late - and it won't even register.

      I'm more hoping for remakes of this trilogy, somewhat like they did with Reignited, but even grander. Including things that the dev teams wanted to include, but couldnt due to time/money contraints. There was a lot scrapped for these games, and by adding those and ironing out any flaws that these had, we can have something truly spectacular.
