They thickened the blade and instead of raisinig the saber grind line, the lowered it?! I really don't understand, why the did that, since already the disadvantage of their blades, was the poor slicing ability. That's the reason I haven't got a Fallkniven yet, the other is that they used VG10 which it wasn't the most ideal steel for that knives IMO ofcourse. I guess that's why most people where complaining about chipping their edges easily. Did you use both the new and the older version S1? Does it make for a good cutter? Which one do you like more, the older model or the S1x? Thaks in advance and Merry Christmas!!!
Thanks for the comment. The blade coating is described as a super tough Carbide Tungsten black coating on the Lam. CoS blade. It does look a little like a Blued finish. The handle is a little taller on the S1x compared to the S1 but I think that both handles feel good. The S1x handle is a little rougher and harder than the S1 rubber like Thermorun handle.
@@williamkang9475 I've had 4 Fallkniven knives in the last at least 14 years. No rust issues anywhere at all. This is not 1095 carbon steel/ everything including pins as you called them are 100% stainless steel.
@@williamkang9475 Go with TRC Mille Cuori. That's the only knife that will never chip. Ka-Bar Becker BK 7 , will also be chip resistant. Even 3V takes microchips. Vanadis 4 E, or a good Becker, if it's not in your budget, is the way to go. Stay away, from overated and overpriced Fallknivens, with their stainless steels. Fixed blades, should have good tough steels on the, they are not kitchen parring knives, aren't they?
@@antman29able Thanks . Yes same place i got my Kolt ,only about 20min across town for me. Yes I've seen that Fallknivens have gone up. Still keen on picking up a Pro and a BRK small edc in the near future. Thanks for the link.
Great video thanks 🤙
Wanted to see what the black costing.
Love the way all your blades are used well.
Thanks for the reply.
So much time talking about the sheaves. Goodness.

I think it cuts well for an outdoor knife.I like both knives.
Happy new year.
@@antman29able Happy new Year!!!
Thanks for weighing them in ounces...
How old is your camera?
it is a nikon and is about 6 0r 7 years old
Interesting to change to slab handles. The tang must be wider than the wrap style then?
It looks like a blued finish rather than coated.?
Thanks for the comment.

The tang is 6mm as is the blade. The S1x keeps it 6mm thickness throughout even under the scales.
Does the pin rust on the handle? And does it chip by chopping for some time? Thanks i really really enjoyed the video. 👍
What pin?
@@tonyalvarez5815 the pins that holds the rubber handle pieces?

@@tonyalvarez5815 awesome. But I am afraid of it chipping within light use. Does cos chip easily?

Hi, did you pick that up locally? I'm thinking about getting one of the pro series.
Yes, from a shop here in Brisbane. The shop is the fallkniven distributor.
@@antman29able Thanks. Probably where I got my Kolt from then.
@@andrewh6034 I bought it from

However the knife seems to have gone up a bit in price since I bought my S1x.
