How do you treat a long, narrow living room in a 1923 American Four Square house? That was my grandparents’ living room. I decided to take on this challenge to fulfill a childhood fantasy. See whether you like the results!

I appreciate this on several levels: one, it is a cool thing to have done your grandparents' living room - the nostalgia is something I can relate to; second, I am anxious to try this myself with the house I grew up in; third thank you so much for showing how to incorporate vintage items! This is something I never see touched on in decorating videos, and I can't be the only one who has inherited vintage and antique pieces I plan to keep. I hope you will do more videos on this subject: how to show off antiques and not have a room look dated or "grandmotherly." Thanks again, Doug!

I really enjoyed this video, Doug. It was interesting hearing the background, but it was also great to see the rendering of the room as you redesigned it. I wonder if you would ever be interested in doing something like Lone Fox's "What would Drew do?" series. I know, personally, that I would love to see what you would do with one of my spaces.
