With Loki taking the place of Molecule Man since he’s set up as the center of all realities. Avengers Doomsday plot will be some version of the worlds collapsing that end with a masked and disfigured doom stealing the otherworldly power (comics it was the Beyonder, here I think it will be Loki) to create a version of battle world with remnants of all the remaining universes. He uses that power to heal his face (OG secret wars) and takes the helmet off for the first time-with the remaining MCU characters in disbelief. It’s an homage to a classic moment from the books. Movie 2: Secret Wars will have doom be influenced by all his other lives since he’s holding the multiverse together as a single world. MCU stark is going to be an influence to him and the two parts of his spirit (who want a suit of armor around the world). He’ll be haunted by dreams like he was in the comics. He will learn to let go and have the universe be born without their iron grip -making a story arch for both. The logos of the two movies go from Doom colors to Iron Man colors. So I think their plan is something like this. And if they’re trying to make the new avenger movies matter to the old one-that’s a way to do it.

So I'm assuming Disney wants another 5 billion total but who knows if FF will play out the same way. Everyone knows RDJ, no one knows the rigger or lighter who made the SFX even in hero shots shine, so I understand there's reason for the top people to be paid what they're worth. That combined with studios underbidding for contracts and there's reasons SFX has problems with working conditions. But wow, how many new films or ideas could made with this insane budget?

This isn't a Hail Mary, it's a Flea Flicker. It's hard to execute, but if it works, people will love it, and if it doesn't, people will shake their heads at the hubris of calling a play like that. As a teacher, you should know that they have already lost Gen Alpha. In my computer safety class, I have my students name their favorite superheroes before we talk about the characteristics of a superhero. Last year's fifth graders could not do it. They named characters from "The Boys" and I got a Spiderman reference here and there, but that was it. They could not name proper super superhero powers. Gen Alpha does not care about superheroes, Harry Potter, and normal TV. They care about watching UA-camrs play video games. That's it. And if they have to read, they go for One Piece or Babysitters Club graphic novels. RDJ may hit the mark with elder Gen Zs, but that is probably it.

RDJ is a low risk choice for Marvel, and I don't think it's going to play out well, even with how good RDJ is. Why didn't they cast a lesser known and younger actor like Langley Kirkwood, and keep it under wraps?

I think this is a nostalgia sugar hit that will fade quickly and leave a bad taste in everyone’s mouth. Marvel use to be masters of the long game. Lots of character development, back stories, and side plot details that were interwoven. I think this runs against that philosophy. Thanos was introduced slowly through a series of end credit scenes. Dr Doom was announced on stage. Yes people cheered, RDJ is a great actor who is loved by the audience. But the analogy that I use is Luke Skywalker making an appearance at the end the Mandolorian to save everyone Deus Ex Machina style. That scene was loved by the audience, but it came with a cost. It robbed the Mando team from saving themselves, from having a fight to the death, from building a shared experience of battle. It added nothing to the character development of the Mando characters, but got a cheer from the audience. Having RDJ as Dr Doom will tie the studios hand when it comes to back story, inner conflict, the hero’s journey, and character growth. I think that in the long run they will have squandered Dr Doom as a persistent character across the MCU, when he could have been a really evil character like loki that is always causing trouble. But what do I know?

This may fail not because of RDJ but inspite of him.
I think this is a nostalgia sugar hit that will fade quickly and leave a bad taste in everyone’s mouth.
Marvel use to be masters of the long game.
Lots of character development, back stories, and side plot details that were interwoven.
I think this runs against that philosophy.
Thanos was introduced slowly through a series of end credit scenes.
Dr Doom was announced on stage.
Yes people cheered, RDJ is a great actor who is loved by the audience.
But the analogy that I use is Luke Skywalker making an appearance at the end the Mandolorian to save everyone Deus Ex Machina style.
That scene was loved by the audience, but it came with a cost.
It robbed the Mando team from saving themselves, from having a fight to the death, from building a shared experience of battle.
It added nothing to the character development of the Mando characters, but got a cheer from the audience.
Having RDJ as Dr Doom will tie the studios hand when it comes to back story, inner conflict, the hero’s journey, and character growth.
I think that in the long run they will have squandered Dr Doom as a persistent character across the MCU, when he could have been a really evil character like loki that is always causing trouble.
But what do I know?

Lazy and desperate idea. Hes a great actor but no way feels like one who can be Doom. Recasting like this uninspiring and lazy. Why not bring back Bale if youre going to recast? A much better actor for Doom. This feels like a missed opportunity to create a new star. This is why hollywood cant create new stars anymore. They dont try. Theres plenty of actor who could play doom. Plus who knows if marvel would write Doom as good as the comics. As if theyd read the comics for the movies. Rdj had his time in marvel. He has a new lease again on his career after his oscar win. He doesnt need marvel.

i am all for RDJ for getting his bag. as long as he gets a big payday i am happy. While i still think Disney is likely to spoil RDJ returning i do hold a small hope that this could be good. Unlike Star Wars i do think it is possible to rebuild the MCU and wish RDJ all the best wishes.
