SPIRIT OF 69 - A FILM BY MIKE SKINNER // DR. MARTENS x ALPHA INDUSTRIES
Вставка
- Опубліковано 10 вер 2014
- Musician Mike Skinner has created a film to celebrate the Spirit of 69; a modern interpretation of a look and attitude that was started back in 1969 by first generation skinheads. The parallels with Skinner and skinhead subculture are obvious: his musical education was an eclectic mix of cultural genres; including his own work with The Streets. The film is an energetic journey through the characters, music, style and sentiment of this influential multi-racial moment, inspired by the authentic individuals who lived it and still influence youth culture today. Time for a revival because this style is timeless.
The bars in the narration is just 🔥. I haven’t simultaneously danced and been woke in a while.
This is not a fashion! Is a Way of Life! Great vid! I'm waiting the full film!

Saw her with Gorillaz at the o2 and she's still got the moves :)
That's racist to call Pauline Black. 📞
@@whi5tler_1337 I do hope you are being sarcastic.
I'am an original from 1969 and i can tell you I remember at fifteen in 1969 the culture was coming into my school with 1/4 inch Bovver turn-ups in your strides and the proper skinhead haircuts coming in so much that a lot of my mates were banned from coming into school with that look! and when I left school I couldn't afford proper DMs that was for the boys who could pay that sort of money, all I could get were old army surplass hobnail boots but they did the trick and was the business : )
We shall keep the spirit alive
punk rock all the way!

“The last genuinely misunderstood post war subculture”
This looks good, was a Mod in 79 but had Skin mates who I'd go football etc with, had some crossover with parts of the fashion & we liked some of each others music as well, my Skin friends liked The Jam & i liked Ska / bluebeat reggae

how do mike.. did you get round to making a film? 😃
I got first my Lee Skins Jeans it was the summer of '69
I am a skin who loves to watch late Victorian footage of Britain and Ireland back then and, surprisingly, I have only seen one dark skinned person in many videos from that era. I have been told that the black man has always been here!
Skinhead till I die! Compton Skinhead
Was that Ashley Walters at 1.12 can't beat a Trojan tattoo ✌️

My daughter thinks that me on the left 0:40 O.o The other lads look seriously familiar as well, might be in the lookout for a new flighty as my old MA1 is beginning to lose its padding a bit.
nice
Levi's boot's an braces.. Good times..
"Genuinely misunderstood." Not from my experiences. Easily understood.
Great video :) was looking at getting a pair of docs had no idea they had anything to do with 2 tone and ska/punk but I suppose it makes sense with the skinheads.
Love Pauline Black and 2 Tone in general, actually super happy Gorillaz went and got her for Charger and have gone into Dancehall.
Fashion really has come full circle and love that the music has if a bit more modern too. Punk is coming back more, dancehall is massive and dub having a comeback and Grime is basically the new punk. Shame the politics had to come with it ;)
Stay Rude, Stay Roots and Keep Your Boots Stomping
Too many beards.
Yes I agree
They have class counnsciosness, something that other counterculture movements lack

Was never really a "joiner"-a total loner.Skinheads really knew good boots/shoes though.
Rude tough rough.
Narrator sounds like the guy from the streets. ..don't mug yourself. .don't mug yourself. ..
It's because it's Mike Skinner who is The Streets.
the selecter at 0:56 ?
Oi skins
This aint Oi. This is the real deal skinheads .
utter bollox
trojanskins patriots
people forget that original skinhead are a distillation of the american ivy league look brought to england by john simmons in the late 50s ,have nothing to do with working class or being hard
What utter bollocks, its the next gen from Mods with a slight west Indian influence, they wore different styles before it started to go highstreet.
indy 56 yeah back to rude boys and fashion, I get it's a doc ad so they skipped over the shoe changes. i really doubt America had much to do with it. Maybe rock n roll teens were the first teenagers which was global but after that the subcultures split off.
Estevão Aragão Lol...Not a clue have you pal...Dont believe in fairies or newspapers.
Estevão Aragão After the Beatles invasion of America England really broke away from American influence .and set the trend for the world in fashion and music for decades to come .
0:35 whos thas skinhead girl? im asking for a friend..
