oh my... I so identify with everything you're saying! ... I, unfortunately, feel I do the same kinds of things... NOT doing things that I really DO want to do, but somehow... avoid?? or just not PLAN to make the time to do these things. By the way, I also have an autoimmune problem as well.... I am 65 years old and although I have just recently found your channel, this is the second time I'm commenting, unusual for me. Naples look absolutely lovely, especially through the eyes of an artist!! Enjoy
Thank you Madeline. I think that actually scheduling things into a diary - as though they were an appointment- can help when you simply never get around to doing things that you want to. J x
So very thought provoking. So profound. I'm working to set more meaningful intentions and to follow through. I haven't watched television, other than occasionally, in many years. I do watch/listen to alot of inspiring writers, creators, podcasts, etc on my phone, however. Too much, perhaps. I also read a few books and magazined, but not as many as I intend to therefore my stack is quite high. I'm currently reading "Women Who Run With The Wolves" and "Braiding Sweetgrass", a book about the indigenous wisdom, knowledge and teachings of plants. Be well, Jane. I'll see you soon in Stiching❤
I always find these episodes so relevant, as if I was having a conversation with someone who really understands where I come from, my history, my wants/needs, my deepest impulses to create beauty in whatever way I can. One reason I identified in myself long ago, why I don't achieve anywhere near as much craft as my inspiration would lead me to, is a belief that I'm not really an artist deep down, I'm a scientist. Never mind that I've long known of other scientists who were also artists, Borodin and da Vinci among them. I can't compare to them in either capacity! As if comparisons were ever useful! Yet I do even while consciously aware of how that stymies my own attempts to do real work, adds to the pressures to apply myself to something "more useful" in our world. I know I'm nowhere near alone in this crisis of self-confidence, how hard it is to give myself permission to do this, amongst all the other duties I have as a woman and mother/sister/daughter, and tenant in a private rental. I think as women, we have not just the barriers put against us historically, but also those we have as part of our natural gender-based impulses to good for all those others around us before we do good for ourselves. The gender-based societies we live in in the west are very hard to dissect from the nature of our own being in a wider, deeper sense.
Thank you Anita. You are so right, there is so much unpicking to do with things that we have assumed to be immutable but actually turn out to be simply a societal assumption, kept going for convenience of a particular group. J x
Excellent video Jane, and great advice. I have had a passion for vintage bicycles and finally, at the age of 64, I’ve decided to dedicate more time to riding and restoring these lovely machines. Merci and stay safe.
Thank you. That sounds like an amazing project - do you restore them one at a time or is it something you have several of and work on them a bit and then swap over? I’m assuming gearings are so on are very different to modern bikes.
Thank you so much for sharing and taking us on this journey with you. It is giving me the strength to be honest with myself and others about what I want and need. ❤
I really enjoy you videos so much. It feels like I have an friend online with the same values of life, even thou you don’t know me ❤️ you deserve way more subsribers then you have! 🥰 but I am glad I am on of them and hope you continue with your videos. Sending you love 🥰❤️🫶🏻
Thank you for your wise words and thoughts. I always look forward to your Friday letters and videos. Enjoy your time in Naples, it is so uplifting. Felicity
Another wonderful film Jane. I plan my viewing for after tending the seedlings in the greenhouse a hot cup of tea and your film, perfect me time. Thank you x
I needed to hear this as I fail to make time to do things that I would take pleasure from. It's not that I can't do them but that I don't make time as there always seems to be a more pressing job to do. I made a list of jobs / leisure activities that I wanted to achieve and whilst I am making some progress with the jobs, the leisure activities end up being second and that really needs to change. You sound to be having a wonderful time.
Thanks Elizabeth. I think it’s so easy to do that - put ourselves at the bottom of the list. It’s why I’m now so keen on putting leisure things in my wall calendar even when it looks daft - it’s the only way to guarantee I’ll actually get to do them. X
Dear Jane, i'm so happy i found you. I have chronical illness too. It's so inspiring for me to see your videos and to hear about your experiences in life. It's so heartwarming. Thank you very much! Greets, Bea❤
I thought your short video was very important. I came to the same conclusion late last year, after a difficult six months of caregiving, and loosing both our moms that life is such a precious gift. I felt we should respect that and be more international in living that life. So I am trying to implement it in my life. It is true that when you do sent your time and energy intentionally, at the end of a day, you feel more satisfied - and of course that will give one better sleep, so th ask you for reinforcing that truth for me,
Thanks Sunita. I feel that it is so easy to lose track of exactly what we want and value in life - and you are right there are things, often sad things, that bring that back to us. I am sorry to hear about your losses, much love, Jane. X
Thank you Kathryn. I am taking full advantage of that sunshine - this is the perfect time to be here for me as I find temperatures over 20 too hot and it is hovering around 14- 17! X
Thank you, I really enjoyed your video. 🌷🙏🏻💚

What a beautiful video. Your words are so valuable to me. Intentionality or living based on other peoples' agendas. Wow! I relate very much to this.
