  • The Honda NT1100 and Africa Twin motorcycles support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, but you need to have your phone connected to the motorcycle to make this work.
With the Ottocast A2 Air Pro, you can throw the cable away and run Android Auto or Apple CarPlay wirelessly. Here is how.

Thank you for a very helpful video. I have a question, my 2020 Africa twin "seems to have an issue" with pairing and working properly when using Android Auto. The cable I have is proper Samsung ( paid enough $$ for it), I use a Cardo Neo comm unit and, hooked up the head set and the phone to the bike. As soon as the bike senses the "presence" of my head set it cuts it of and I can not listen to music and communicate with my riding buddies. The only thing that works is Android Auto on the big screen. If I do not connect the phone via cable and choose not to pair the headset with the bike @ initially turning the bike on, the Cardo works, I can listen to music, talk on the phone and communicate via the Cardo with my riding buddies. Sorry for the long description but do you have any knowledge of this issue and how to solve it? Thank you

Hello - If I'm reading the question correctly, I think you are suffering from the "Who's in charge" problem. With your phone and bike connected to the headset, they are arguing for control. Try connecting the phone to just the bike, and the headset to the just bike and delete all other pairings. The music then plays from the phone, through Android Auto to the headset. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks for the time taken. I bought one for my NT but it turns out that because my Samsung A12 phone doesn't support 5 ghz wi-fi it won't work. Now looking at a phone upgrade! Tech, huh......?

Surprising. It works on Bluetooth, wouldn't have thought WiFi would be an issue, but good spot if that is the case

@fliesonthevisor I agree. Wi-fi shouldn't come into it. I'll try turning the wi-fi off and see if it makes any difference. Then I'll try another phone which I know supports 5 gig. Out of interest where did you stash the Ottocast unit. I'm thinking up under the fairing below the displays....

I didn't as it wasn't my bike (Honda Press Bike) so I stuck it to the fairing and removed it when the bike went back

Hi, thanks for that. I've bought one now and got it set up nicely. I'm interested to know if you 'stuck' it somewhere? I'm trying to find a suitable spot where it's out of sight and doesn't catch on something when steering. Thanks.

The best solution I've seen was to run a long USB lead so the Ottocast A2Air Pro could be installed under the seat. This means that only an inch of the cable is visible before it runs behind the "Tupperware"

@@fliesonthevisor Thanks for that, sounds like a good option and keeps it dry as well 👍

Hi there! Is there a reason why did you choose A2 Air Pro version while cheaper A2 Air version is available?

Hello! Connected Ottocast A2Air Pro. Works good. The problem is finding a long cable to run under the seat. The cable that works with android auto does not work with Ottocast. What cable did you use instead of the standard cable? Thank you.

It was a cable I had in a box, so I can't be sure. I think it was made by UGREEN. If you search UGREEN USB on Amazon, you should find them. Get the high-quality high throughput cables. All of that said I can't be sure. Hope that helps.

You are my saviour 🙌, I have had my NT1100 for nearly a year now and from day 1 had issues with connection via cable and eventually used an Anker cable which solved it, or so I thought. It still faulted sometimes so I went to my Honda dealer who also tried but failed. So, like you, I thought I'd try wireless option, connected it all up but still had issues, temperamental I'd call it.
Time and time again I would uninstall everything and keep trying, but failing 😔 .
Then, I saw your video, and followed your instructions and from then on it connects 1st time everytime!
The only thing different that you point out at the very beginning is, YOU MUST CONNECT HELMET TO BIKE FIRST, after that you connect your phone and hey presto it works.
So, if anyone else who has connection issues follows your instructions then happy days, they'll have no issues.
      Thanks again 👏
