She had everything going for when she married Weiss. Then threw it all away for a man with no morals. At the end, no one wins. Thank you so much for sharing this sad story.
Indeed - very well said!🙌 It is not so dissimilar to you don't know what you have until you have lost it. She was also very young - we believe she died at 25? (could be 24...) Thank you so very much for your continued suport of us!🙏
Oh my goodness! Torrid affairs and diabolical plans! I look forward to the sinister Saturday installment with great anticipation! Inspector Coles and associates never fail to deliver all the titillating details about people from yesteryear! Bravo!!! By the way, just in case you wondered.....it's the Yank from across the pond!!!! Ha ha! Tallyhooo!

This was an intriguing and yet sad case of a married woman who becomes infatuated with her lover. What I don't comprehend about Madame Weiss is she wants to be with her lover but she also wants to stay married to her devoted husband, too. I wasn't surprised that her lover committed suicide rather than face the death penalty or penal servitude. I also wasn't surprised that Madame Weiss would commit suicide, as well. Do you know whatever happened to her husband and children? I'm curious about the letter that she left for her son to be opened when he turned 15 but her husband declined his son having it. Great investigation, presentation, backstory, illustrations, photos and videos, as well. Take care 🦋
Thank you - glad you liked! She sounds quite torn doesn't she? But it was admitted it did not make snese that only a few days after sending a letter confirming her love for her husband, she begins ot poison him. That is heartless.😔 The letter was never given to her son which caused a real uproar amongst the litterati in Paris - everyone wanted to know what it said! Weiss did not share the contents of the letter given to him - he was quite clear she was dead in his eyes. We do not have the follow up to Weiss and the children - the papers made a point of sayng how very well he looked at the trial. Poor children. 😔
I doubt Jeanne would have had the inclination to attempt to murder her husband had it not been for the "influence" of Roque!! I think Roque was VERY controlling, manipulative, and used to getting his own way in everything!! He was also a coward!! I'm glad M.Weiss survived the poisoning!! I feel sorry for their poor children!! I hope they weren't tainted by their mother's actions, and that they and their father managed to rebuild their lives as a family!! Thanks for sharing this VERY sad story, Robin!! 👍💖💚💙💔😭
Thank you - so pleased you liked it! We do like when the nasties get their just desserts in the end! 😉 Interestingly, Weiss's family must have been feeling rather smug as they were dead opposed to his marrying Jeanne! She chose a rather painful way to die - strychnine is ghastly to the body. 🤢 Thank you - wishing you and family a fabulous weekend!🙏
@@newsofthetimes OOOOOH, I bet there were a LOT of "We warned you about marrying that woman and you refused to listen to our warnings" from Weiss's family!! Hindsight is always a fine thing!! YIKES!! Strychnine sounds like an agonising way to die!! I can imagine the utter despair Jeanne must have felt at that moment!! Literally all was lost for her!! I'm not saying she was TOTALLY innocent, but I honestly feel that Roque manipulated and used her to get his own way!! He proved his cowardice by killing himself and letting Jeanne face the music ON HER OWN!! UTTERLY DESPICABLE BEHAVIOUR!!
@@nadiabrook7871 The whole thing has such a DO OR DIE aspect to it. and, I am sure there is a wry twist to this -' send more poison and hide it in baby socks'? So bizarre. She would have found another way to die in prison, we are sure, but we still wold have liked to see both of them do some time. 😏
@@newsofthetimes They both took the easy way out!! By the way, I'm glad Weiss loved his children enough NOT to allow his son to read the letter from Jeanne when he turned 15!! She was only trying to justify her actions anyway!!
@@nadiabrook7871 Great point! 👍We agree and think that the son reading his mother's death letter could only have caused harm and placed a burden on him that would have been unnecessary. 🤔
Excellent point! 👍Would she have divorced him? Hmmm. The prosecutor (who we thought gave an excellent summing up) probably would have said no, feeling strongly as he did that she was the "type" of woman to lead a highly dramatic life!🤔
My favourite News of the Times Saturdays😊

I wonder if any of this would have happened if divorce were more easily attainable. Thankyou for another well researched case
