Jokes on you. The best recent FF story is now in FFXIV. The long run-time gave it more space to explore every plot that it gives and tell them very well. The successes of FFXIV are exactly the reason the people who made FFXIV are given a chance to make FFXVI. A return to the fantasy of Final Fantasy.
I will not be convinced this game isn't on one of the 14 shards
yeah it really sucks. Im a long time ff fan and never tried 14 because I hate subscriptions but I thought I'd give it a try this year... after what feels like an eternity I was still not through the base game. And my god... it's so boring. It's so bad! It's so insanely bad!!!!!!! People kept telling me that it will get much better when you reach the expansions but I was unable to get through the base game man. When I get bored deeply I become really stressed and thats super unhealthy. In the end it wasnt worth it to plough through the garbage to reach a supposed good dlc. A deep shame.
I heard they were reworking the early game at some point... did they already do so? Perhaps then it I will finally be able to play it and perhaps experience the very cool expansions people keep talking about...
@@Adama.1 yeah the early game has been completely streamlined. Much faster to get through. Once you get to Heavensward, the pop don't stop. Stormblood is ok, not as hype as HW. But, Shadowbringers? Whew! That is a ride!
@@Adama.1 They did that happened with 5.3 A lot of the back and forth and padding was cut, along with them juicing the exp the main quest gives you so you never have to do anything else to get through.
ARR is very "classic FF" in it's plot, think 1, 3, 5 but then starting in the lead up to HW it becomes insanely in depth.
Gameplay wise I'd say it picks up around level 35-40ish. Once you've got your job and thus all you buttons.
Yeah, I actually feel sorry for people who haven't played FF14 because watching this trailer oozes FF14 everywhere. If you are actually into story in FF14, you can kinda see what the plot of the FF16 by just watching this trailer alone.
I truly didn't see this coming. So much stuff on the way and little time to prepare. 🤯
Pretty sure this one's still at least a few years away, hence the PC emulation.

Don’t knock XIV. The latest expansion, Shadowbringers, has THE BEST FF storyline of all time!
During the latest patch, 5.3, which ended the ShB storyline, I cried 13 times. 3 of those times I had to stop playing as I was crying so hard.
Also to add, the director and producer for XIV is producing XVI, which has me so hyped. We KNOW we are gonna be getting an amazing story if our Lord and Saviour Yoshi-P is involved!!
The hate is that it’s a very generic mmo, which it is. When people think final fantasy, they don’t wanna think MMO. The story may be good, but that doesn’t mean it’s a good game or comparable to other games in the series. IMO, ff14 doesn’t have the best overall plot, it’s just extensive, and that’s part of the reason I hear people saying they like the plot. Not that the plot is revolutionary or anything special, just extensive. So anyone has every right to knock XIV.

ZappiestLynx 956 it’s not anymore generic then ff8 or ff15. Ff14 is pretty good and only gets better as you progress through the story

The director of Final Fantasy XIV is working on this as a producer so I have really high hopes. Also would highly recommend checking out ffxiv in general if yunno you have time available. You get a free trial up to level 50 and the streamlined a lot of the base game. Either Way I'm super excited for FFXVI

Final Xenoblade Lord of the Fantasy Chronicles (because it seems Ifrit and Phoenix have beef). I’m hype.
I remember in FF XIII-2 there was one really brutal, almost disturbing scene. But there was zero blood which doesnt make any sense for what happened on screen lmao

Mister Fidelio yeah well talking like that, most final fantasies had “just a bit”. Ffxv had some, xiii had a small amount, X had some, 9 had some.
One of the very things I like about rpg games is the soundtrack
Yeah a good soundtrack is especially important for RPG's since they can help time pass by while doing various tasks for long periods of time. Helps make the experience more engaging and exciting.

If they've Soken to compose, which it sound like it, the music is most definitely going to exceed expectations!
The reason why this combat design looks so different is that Square Enix hired on Ryota Suzuki (Dragon's Dogma, DMC5) as the battle director.

I'd recommend just going straight into FF7 Remake if you're considering the 7 series. Sure it does callback to the original 7 and other works but based on other people's opinions of just jumping straight into the remake as their first experience people enjoy the remake just fine without prior knowledge and most of them feel compelled to jump into the original after that. FF7 is a fantastic game but there are a lot of areas that it hasn't really aged well and may be more of a slog to go through. FF7 Remake is very modern and current with the times that I recommend having that as people's first experience and having that be their driving force to experience the rest of the 7 series is how I'd recommend doing it nowadays.

Crystals being a key plot device has been a thing since OG Final Fantasy, not just a Fabula Nova Crystallis thing.

I really fucking hate Sony for various reasons, and I’m usually an Xbox guy (I have both a ps4 and Xbox one, so don’t spout BS about me not knowing, I have experience) , but just the fact that square enix is under Sony’s claw, I’m gonna have to buy the next PlayStation for final fantasy almost exclusively. I can’t wait a year-several years for the multiple parts of the final fantasy remake to come to Xbox and now the next mainstream final fantasy is exclusive. Fucking great.
I hate absolutely every person who complains that this game looks generic. I’m sorry that final fantasy is going back to its previous and arguably better roots of high fantasy, and that the protagonist isn’t a mama’s basement boy wet dream. This game looks absolutely amazing so far and I cannot wait to see what becomes of it.

But yeah this one definitely isn't for the kids it seems. I think they're really gunning for that M rating.
For FFXV, I would personally advise skipping the majority of sidequests and focus primarily on the story. It shouldn't take you more than 20-25 hours to finish. Once you finish the story, you'll have a chance to go back and do all the sidequests you didn't do + new ones if you still want to.

@@glennkeating7688 I highly recommend picking up the royal edition for FFXV if you're looking into playing it, definitely makes the game so much better (I personally absolutely love the game but the royal edition irons out a lot of the game's shortcomings and I recommend playing the platinum demo for it as it also gives a good amount of story set before the game begins)

This looks like a darker take on final fantasy and that is interesting, I wonder what other things they’ll do.
I love everybody finds out it's FF when the chocobos appear all tho you can clearly tell the character designs scream FF and they said Shiva early on, not many games have any called Shiva, and Shiva has been a staple of FF for a while now

The combat director for this game was the designer of Devil May Cry 5 so I'm expecting the combat to be similar to that.

That said, the contract that Square Enix has with Sony for Final Fantasy states that the main games can still be released on PC after 6 months and on other consoles after 12 months. So it could still come to Xbox, just not for awhile because Square Enix would probably still wait a year or two extra. No guarantee it will happen though.
Seeing the uproar of backlash on Facebook especially was probably the most disappointing thing I’ve ever seen ever and truly showed me just how spoiled we have become. Seeing you and everyone here expressing actual excitement makes me happy.
gameplay looks a lot like an expanded version of FF7R's and between that and ff14's recent expansion i think square has been knocking it out of the park. I'm so looking forward to this and FFR-2 :D

It was confirmed afterwards that the "asterisk also available on PC" was a mistake and is not true (at least for now?)

So funny you say that it looked like a 14 expansion because it appears to be a spin off, and is being made by the same guy/team.
I mean like..... wait a minute those models look really dam familiar.... is this from final fantasy 14? but na..... apparently its the same team working behind it though which would explain why it looks so much like it.
I mean to me this isn't as mindblowing... final fantasy 13 versus looked so different and amazing from other final fantasy before it, until it turned into final fantasy 15 which was almost a different game from 13 versus.... it was a pretty big risk from square enix to try a new concept like it and to me it somewhat paid off, they still made a shit ton of money from it so ya.
This one seems more like it's going back to the old school medieval days of final fantasy 1 and 2 and the bloodiness of final fantasy type 0, so excuse me if my mind is not blown by this because I have seen this concept before square enix is definitely playing it safe for this new one... but you know if it has a good story I'm all for it.
You have to play FFVII Remake. Only the remake works. It is a great game.

Meh, I was more into the mixed fantasy like 15 but that was also my first FF, this just looks like a more Eastern Witcher. Too high fantasy, makes it kinda generic but thats my opinion and I know someone will either blast me a bout it here or not do that since I called em out early on it.
