    That turned out great. Looks very heavy duty. I really like that locking mechanism when it swings all the way open.

    You will eventually tire of opening the latch and lifting the pin, and fill in the hole for the pin at the latched position.

    Nice job. One suggestion. Get a small length of pipe, slightly smaller than the inside diameter of your wheels centre hole and weld it to the plate between the wheel studs. That way you can just throw the wheel up on the pipe and it will hold it while you rotate it and line up the studs. It’s a lot easier to get your spare up there!

    Beautiful work. Question...do you have to unground the body ground cable from truck before welding...especially if bumper is attached to body

    I'm looking to do the same with my '95 Suburban...the inside spare really takes up a lot of room. I was surprised the tubing is 1/8 wall...I was planning on using 3/16 but may reconsider. Maybe its the camera angle, but it looks like the tire is blocking the tail light? Nice looking rig.

    • @4x4fabshop
      @4x4fabshop  2 роки тому

      Thanks for the comments, the tire is moved over so that the edge is just on the tail light, the problem we ran into is the bumper they wanted me to weld it to was barely strong enough. They had to run some stiffeners back to the frame. I think 3/16 would be way too heavy. That’s a 35 inch tire that probably weighs around 100-ish pounds. I’d love to know what videos you’d like to see in the future. Thank you

    what about the obstructed passenger side tailight?

    • @4x4fabshop
      @4x4fabshop  2 роки тому

      Thanks for the comment. The tire is just on the edge of the light, we put it where the customer wanted it.

      The tire was just to the side of the light. Thanks for viewing.

    The axle spindle kit.. (shaft with bearings) where do you find that without a big wheel hub and just a pipe?

    What thickness of rectangular tubing did you use for the base of the swingarm? Also did you use 2x3" or 2x4" rectangular tubing?
