    This is a major safety issue in baseball. It's to the batter's advantage to creep back, and it's in the catcher's advantage to creep forward. Getting hit with a backswing like that can be a very serious head injury. Neither the catcher nor the batter technically did anything illegal, yet the backswing hit him very squarely in the head. MLB and fans are only going to start taking it seriously when somebody "important" gets a career ending or fatal injury from this

    • @adamleblanc5294
      @adamleblanc5294 11 місяців тому +31

      This is why I'm 100% on the pitchers side here. He should have been ejected, that's fair, but intentional or not, catchers have been getting hit way more than usual this year, and it's always the same guys with big followthroughs doing it. The message needs to be sent that "hey, you need to control your bat". It's not like the pitcher threw it in a dangerous spot, it was middle of the body to send a message and I'm fine with that. This sort of thing wasn't a big problem in years past, but a lot of guys have adopted this big follow through and it seems like catchers are getting nailed every other game now. Something needs to be done about it, and if the league can't figure something out, I'm fine with a few bruised hips to send the message.

      @KenshinPlayz57 11 місяців тому +7

He isn't bound by any restrictions besides trying to get the upper hand on balls in the dirt and framing pitches.. Considering the avg mlb pitcher now throws 95+ mph and the avg hitter hits around .250, he's going to use the back of the box. That's why it's there. !00% - and there's solid proof now: If Yadi Molina does it, everyone should. Anyone who has some excuse that it affects their view or doesn't feel right should look at Yadi being the best catcher in a generation with his hockey mask and _strongly_ reconsider their stance.
