Hi to everyone - I happened to cross over your videos and you made me buy this software - I am a photographer, not a professional one, but someone who has been taking photos for about 30 years . . . never was impressed with software - but you finally made me do it - you finally made me buy this software - and I am very happy with it. You explain very well the concepts of using this software - so thumbs up from my side. If it wasn't for you I would never ever have bought any software at all. Thank you and keep it up.
I have been using Skylum since Luminar 3. I love Luminar 4 as it makes the workflow so much easier and less time consuming. I have already paid for the latest version of Luminar AI and at the price they are asking it truly is a no brainer. I am really looking forward to putting the new program through its paces. :-)
Thanks for your useful and careful explanation about who may benefit from Luminar A1 and who may not. I made the upgrade from Luminar 4 to AI and I was underwhelmed by A1 which offers too little improvement over Luminar 4.
Anthony I've been using Luminar 4 for a while and followed along with the tutorials. So easy to follow and get good results. I'm pre-ordering using the early bird discount link and look forward to getting even more from Luminar AI!
From what I have seen and read, I think Anthony sums up Luminar IA well. Newbies for sure, prosumers who know the other tools, this should be fun to mess around with and pros it is all about your workflow. Does IA improve yours or take away from “your look & vision”. I do not see IA as a replacement for...or an extension of...It is a new philosophy and technology and Luminar IA is embracing it completely. Two other thoughts, money back within 30 days once you get a copy and Luminar states that much of the IA results can be manual adjusted if so desired. Enjoyed seeing Anthony’s family😇
Just an FYI, Skylum emailed me earlier today (22/9/20) to say of the 30,000 earlybird discount copies there are only 500 left. So if you want one cheaper than official release I'd move quickly... bit.ly/3gXrf9Y-LuminarAI

Thanks for your video. My question is, Nobody explains how its different from luminar4 ? Do I need to have both or if I will buy Luminar AI , it includes luminar4 features and I dont need to be dependent on my lightroom process?
Hi Ankit. It's more an AI editor from the ground up whereas Luminar 4 was a traditional editor with some AI tools built into it. Luminar AI does away with layers and uses a local adjustment approach similar to Lightroom. I think it will be a valuable editor but for working with catalogues of a lot of photos Lightroom will still have the edge there. I may end up managing my libraries in lightroom and using Luminar for editing... I'll know more about my workflow going forward though.
Nice video, congrats! I have some questions... 1. Will the add-on version for Lightroom and Photoshop also work? 2. There will be a "mass editing" function ... that is, if I select 10 photos in Lightroom, right-click on them and send them all at once in Luminar Ai for simultaneous editing? Or will absolutely every photo have to be edited individually? 3. I have L4 and using from the beginning... but its rally really slow when exporting photos, wanna know Lr AI is got same issue or not... do u have any idea about this? Thank you
Hi Sorin. Yes as I understand it will work as a standalone AND as a plugin for LR and PS as is the case with Luminar 4. I believe too that there will be bulk editing functionality - possibly through applying the templates. 3, as for export speed, until I can test that for myself I can't say I'm afraid. I currently make that my "go grab a coffee" time or stretch break, although for me it's much quicker in L4.3. Cheers for the questions!
Hi Huk. No you don't need Luminar 4 to get Luminar AI working. It's a full standalone program. You can also run it as a plugin for Lightroom and Photoshop too.
@@AnthonyTurnham thank you so much for the reply. Actually I just bought Luminar 4. Thinking of get refund for Luminar 4 and buy Luminar AI. Please kindly advice. Can Luminar AI do everything which Luminar 4 does ?
@@hukchone4521 pretty much. It's missing layers from Luminar AI though, although the local adjustment brush feature lets you load in and paint new layers. It's just a different way of working.
Luminar AI is offered for sale with these extras: 1. Luminar X Membership; 2. AUrora HDR; 3. Photographic Storytelling; 4. Power of Nature skies; 5) Elia Locardi Pack; and 6) Sky Collection Bundle. Has anyone (Anthony?) any opinion on whether any of these are worth purchasing?
Hi Myles. It totally depends on your needs, your style of photography and the genre you shoot. For me I use Aurora HDR a lot for my architecture and landscape work to pull the exposure into a better dynamic range. Skies are also important for me, but I also like to shoot my own library. I also like creating my own looks and presets rather than using someone elses - but if you wan to leverage someone elses hardwork then investi8ng in the likes of Elia's pack would be worth it. I haven't looked into Luminar X in depth yet so I can't comment on that as yet....
I’m not understanding you’re advertising luminar neo plus AI plus luminar 4 which one is the best I want something fast and easy I think luminar is great but I’m confused with all the add-ons you don’t even talk about MDR anymore so can you advise me what I should get retouching is all new to me I really don’t like Photoshop or Lightroom they’re too difficult please Help George
Thanks Brian. Yes, no need to upgrade if you don't want to. Luminar 4 is a great piece of Software and Skylum have said it will still be supported for a year after the release of Luminar AI. And even then it'll still keep doing what it's done for you going forward. I was a bit annoyed to start with too because it's going to make all of my free training I'd created for you guys redundant. But I'm not mad because I reframed it and realised, just about every company out there works on improving their product and then takes the new version to market. No one ever says you gotta buy it. My favourite football team releases 3 new kits every season. My son always asks me for the new version of FIFA on his xbox, and this morning I saw the new version of the car I bought driving down the road. I'm okay with companies trying to improve on their products and services.
Same thing here. I was hoping for bug fixes for Luminar 4.3. Now I do have to pay again for a new version and hope that some annoying bugs are fixed (randomly crashes, ...)?
I only bought 4 as well but I am not skipping AI. That would just spite me. I want it if it is anything like as good as their other AI offerings in 4. Well worth the money. They are not robbing people like some software. PSelements is $99 and it never works the way they claim. they used to provide patches /fixes but now they just put out a new version each year with more and newer promises.
@@AnthonyTurnham This explains why Luminar 4 seems to have stalled - reading the forums so many people have serious problems with it that just haven't been addressed and important promised features like custom photo tagging never materialized. I get the business model but this is too soon - seems like they did exactly the same thing between Luminar 3 and 4 - made a load of promises, didn't quite deliver but then say hey this new product is going to be the best thing ever and rebuilt from the ground up etc etc.
Hello, can you please answer me Does Luminar AI or 4 have a feature similar to Photoshop's magic wand or lasso tool in order to isolate an area and not have the clone stamp tool or otherwise interfere or overlap when using said brush? If so, do you have any videos covering this?
Hi Malc. Not sure if you're familiar with Lightroom's approaach of adjustment brushes, but Luminar AI is going to be adopting that way of working. It can achieve the same results just done in a different way. It's less processor intensive than layers so it'll be quicker than Luminar 4 (so the developers tell me!)
Anthony Turnham Thank You , early in my stage of learning , but once you get your hands on it I’m sure you will be sending us some tips and great videos. Look forward to seeing more great . Cheers Malc
Thanks Alex! I appreciate it. 🙏Yeah more of a conclusion with the more in-depth thinking and discussion that lead me there still to come... But yes, in a nutshell, I'm pretty confident it's going to be a valuable addition to pretty much any photographer.
Well, I see quite the opposite if you are a professional photographer you don't need stupid qi to do the editing for you because you want to be in control. As a photographer, I prefer to have 1000's of options that I can mess around with because that's how I have control...
Thanks for the comment, and I get your point about wanting control. Of course, as professionals we want lots of options and we want control. To get that, I use Luminar in conjunction with my existing editing tool set to increase my options rather than limit them. For example in this video ua-cam.com/video/mDOSr1_B8Eg/v-deo.html I'm showing how just one tool (the AI sunrays) is used to build on what I'd already done in Photoshop. Yes, I could have done a similar thing in PS, but I know from experience my time would have taken a big hit.
You still have control with Luminar AI. It makes intelligent recommendations and you choose what you want to use and how much. If 1000's of options equals more control, how can adding more options with a supplementary editing tool reduce your control and therefore be a bad thing? Why not take the best bits of what it does and integrate them into your workflow? If humans can make simple mistakes such as confusing highly intelligent AI for "stupid qi" who knows how many errors could creep into a workflow with 1000's of options.
so people are actually happy with Luminar 4? The only reason I'm not pre-ordering Ai is because of the horrible performance i got out of Luminar 4 :( Hopefully, this is not the case with Ai.
Hi Paolo. I can confirm that Luminar AI is far zippier than Luminar 4. The software engineers have made a lot of changes under the hood so it runs faster and from my tests so far it's a joy to use.
How is this four questions? "????" just kidding 😜. Fair point. It was a quick video that was more of a conclusion based on reviewing the information I had so far. As I said in the vid it was father's day and I'd had people asking questions so I tried to be of help with what I knew so far. I have something more in depth in the pipeline....
I'm going through my old slides and scanning them. What I'd really love in an AI package is the ability to automate the removal of the dust specks and other marks on the slides. What a long, laborious job to do this on Photoshop.
Absolutely! What techniqgue are you using in PS? I find the dust and scratched filter to be a good starting point but often you do need a few other tricks up your sleeve to get a good result. Yep, automating that would be sooo good!
