Wheat is an integral part of redstone as a key component for target blocks. And it is desperately needed for dried mud. You have the redstoners AND the builders covered with one product.

That's what I have been saying since the permits were drawn! it came to my attention that the target block is actually covered by the redstone permit but tango has very big plans for his shop and target blocks might not be sold by anyone for a while

You’re right that having unlimited emeralds is what made the difference. When you’re starting from scratch you’re usually trying to get the paper trade with whatever book you’re looking for, and the price matters more. Thanks for the video!
Without the emeralds it's a PITA. And 22 expensive. I strive for 14, have gotten it at 10 a couple of times since the introduction of the book system till today.
personally I usually just end up going for a fletcher who buys sticks and farming trees for a while until I have enough emeralds to be self sustaining
I use fletchers for my first emeralds, then set up toolsmith, armorer, and weaponsmith, and unlock their iron trades. Then i use iron from an iron farm to produce my ‘mid game’ emeralds.
@@entropic-decayI must admit most recently I created a string duper early on and traded with 8 trapped fletchers… the quickest early-game route to crazy emeralds I know. Then ages doing the lectern switcheroo. Life’s too short to do librarian farming honestly anymore!

Mending showed up at least once in every 3-5 villagers I ran through, I literally got mending on the third guy.

Nope, we're fairly transparent about changes to the server, no RNG changes. There's no point in risking losing the goodwill of the audience over villager trades.
Idea: put up a complaints chest, and have a kitty sit on top of it so no one can use it :D

I loved this prank and all of you together doing it. Though it seems like Doc liked it as well? He's quite good at saving face.
Glad you were able to replenish all the villagers so quickly. And now you know how to do it which is really cool. It's kind of like Ren learning how to make a wither farm. Seeing hermits taking on projects they normally wouldn't because of these permits has been fun to watch.

yeah in bedrock we have it easy with the piston!
Three slime blocks, a sticky piston, and a lever and you can reroll 9 villagers at a time with a click of the mouse. I think half of the complaints people have with villagers would disappear if Java got movable tile entities.
Seeing both sides through videos/streams suprisingly doesn't ruin the fun. It adds a new "waiting for the reaction" bit as well as anticipating the response.
Those are real diamonds that Joe put in there. He named them so they wouldn't stack. You can rename them back to normal and they will stack.
Or just use them to craft a diamond block.
Now that Doc's not involved, you should update the café to say you can buy a book and get a free drink with it, just for reasons.
Don't know if Doc is no longer involved, Cleo and Doc made a deal with 50/50 split and as far as i seen the deal is still standing even after Cleo using a loophole to not pay Doc and Doc killing his villagers.
@@WEIRDxGRIMThe deal was for 50% of the profits from Doc's villagers, and the source of these new ones I believe is from Cub's so... No Doc would no longer get anything even if there were profits.

@CamronJK based off that she made new villagers then filled up the mending books that were almost out off stock.
You did get pretty lucky with the villagers. Aside from the linking issues that can keep them from restocking, it's not really difficult. It's just mind-numbing because it requires a lot of attention for a very long time. Some people can handle that better than others.
I just put on some TV and chilled out for a bit, that's why I didn't record a clip with every new villager, I didn't want to pause my show ;)
@@ZombieCleo If I tried that, I'd be registering the book I need was there about half a second after I break the workstation. And, yes, that happened to me more than once while doing the full complement of 36 books/villagers.
I've had it be quick sometimes and others requiring a couple of hours of lectern placing for a specific book. It can vary so much.
Those diamonds that you keep leaving behind are genuine. They've just been renamed. The fake ones have a different texture.

Something small but hilarious about the Kitty Café wrt permit legislation is that since the drinks are custom models they can't actually be drunk. And even if some hall monitor were to state that "oh but pumpkins are a food, that would be under xB's jurisdiction!!"... Well yes, but actually no. You don't really EAT pumpkins in Minecraft, they're just used in crafting recipes. Love me a good loophole yayyy :D

Not exactly to sell anything that does not already have a permit like custom models or pumpkins you are required to get a new permit made, and you can ask scar how that’s going for him.

Hay bale shop in short is... suffering from success. Everybody loves them mud blocks.
And yeah, villager trading isn't very hard, it's mostly tedious/frustrating. With an infrastructure to breed them and move them and store them, and a wallet full of emeralds (no need for zombification if it's raining emeralds!), all that's left is the patience to listen to hmmmmmming for extended periods of time :D That's also partially why the raid farms are so game-breaking!
I know Cleo started the cat cafe because of Doc, but I truly think that the shop itself is so cool and cute on its own

When you'd mentioned Doc killing the villagers on stream I assumed he just showed up, killed them and left a sign. That was so extra and it's so funny how quickly you just "well anyway *moves on*" and went back to suffering from success.
I love the cat trees for the kitties, though. Feels more like the cat cafe I went to once where they were all up on those high spots and little hidey holes until they saw you had food and came to be cute and try steal from you.

It should be said that Doc didn't kill the villagers in revenge for the Big Salmon prank, it was for the buy a drink/get a free book scam^^^^ deal.

I guess you know it already, but you can find in really easy way if diamonds are fake.
F3 + H will show item descriptions (minecraft:diamond, exact durability of the tool, etc.) to check what it diamond and what is a stick
You could also craft with them. Diamond block and back to change names back to normal without using anvil and levels
There are some usual suspects on the server for getting rich: Doc, Keralis, Impulse, Cub, Grian, but Cleo has a chance to be this season's whale. I am so here for the wealthy Cleo angle and then throwing her weight around as a result of her fortune.
The weird diamonds are retextured sticks by Xisuma.
There is also actual diamonds, renamed by Joe (who else). Possibly they are lightly used, too.
@@HalfInt Yeah I'm pretty sure all the ones Cleo got (the same 3 every time) were just renamed by Joe trying to be funny. I haven't seen anyone use the counterfit diamonds to buy anything from a shop but I could be wrong.
Cycling the trades is the real annoying part of villagers lol.
Or when they break 😩 I can never get a villager trading hall together properly, bc mine always end up glitching out and stealing other villagers’ job blocks when I relog or try to move them
@@DannyDevitoOffical-TrustMeBro Yea...Moving them is generally the only difficult part. if you house them in individual slots that don't allow significant movement you'll generally be ok, but if you try to move them out (To get Zombied/Healed or something) they get very frustrating to get re-attached to work-stations if there are any other villagers around. (Especially jobless ones awaiting their turn).
There are some great redstone contraptions to help with rerolling. But Efficiency pickaxe plus a stack of lecterns works equally well.

So now my fisherman is tied to a job site that he's incapable of realizing *no longer exists* (FWIW, this is a bug that's fixed in the latest snapshots).
Poor villager--he hasn't been looking too well lately. I'm worried one of these days he might trip and fall a few dozen blocks, and I'll just have to find a new fisherman...
02:24 That's not actually how it works. The water flows down and fills the area, but only the top layer is actually made of water sources. That's why you need kelp to make a bubble column in the normal way - one water source at the top fills the column, but only the top block is a water source, and soul sand doesn't work on non-source water blocks. Placing and removing kelp converts a non-source water block into a source water block.

About the Villagers, you where extremly lucky, even with all the emeralds you need, this could take hours of non stop changing profession.
The emeralds helped a lot..but usualy I have all the emeralds I need through farmers and food.
No what made it fast is you got lucky on the RNG, sometimes a specific book won't show up for thousands of tries..you got all yours done rather quickly. Be glad..and ask Grian about trying to get a specific book to show up from villagers...to see how it's been for him before :P.
My sister often comments on how I'm the luckiest person she knows, I've had a high success rate on random chance things forever

I love watching cleos prank wars lol stumbled across her videos last season when she was having a prank war with jevin and neither would pull any punches and would take any retaliation on the chin with a good laugh
Horse breading and packed mud are big this season; hay bales will always be big sellers. It may be worth working out a discount with Stress and Keralis for buying in bulk so they're not tempted to farm it on their own.
I just noticed on the Hermitcraft site that when you update the image at the top to include the new members you chose to keep TFC. I love the respect you have chosen to pay to his memory.

The kitty cafe near me has walkways across the ceiling and tunnels through the wall to it's other room along side kitty caves on top of scratch posts. I enjoyed my experience there and I'm enjoying the cafe you built. Can't wait to see the shenanigans that happens next there.

Cleo, my soul has to ask, would you consider doing an episode in a sitcom style with the obviously popular cafe and hay side business at the centre and we observe all the shenannigans of the hermits from the lense of the cafe? I dont really have a vision of what sitcom vibe you go with, black books, golden girls, friends, fraiser. But that cafe is so good it should be a character in its own right.

Love the loopholes so much!! I can see only two weaknesses in this.
1. You don’t have a drink permit! Time to be put on hold by the DHP, lol.
2. You aren’t fulfilling your book selling duties! How about selling books for a stack of diamond blocks? If you do make a sale, you’re rich! If you don’t, you don’t have to pay Doc anything!
3. Everybody can do it, sell goodies without its permits as gifts with other items. Very dangerous door to be opened.
It would nice if Mojang either added a "sit button" that would work like crouching, but you'd be even lower and unable to move, or if they added seat blocks.
I think that the first option would be the better one.
Good luck with the free range Villagers, Cleo! I have tried on and off for at least 6 years, and never got it working. After a while they somehow get lost and forget which was their workstation. Worse even if I gave them beds, they would forget those, too, and then make babies because there were apparently unoccupied beds, which then took over the apparently unoccupied workstations.
Well, but of cause I hope you make it, Cleo. So keep trying. I am dying to see a working solution that doesn't trap them in less than 9 block spaces.

I almost hope Doc tries to protest something about the arrangement to the permit office. I want to see how he deals with the DHP - patience is not his strong suit.
(And since they aren't his villagers anymore, if he says you're not 'selling' the books and not covering the permit, you can just. Easily pivot to doing so, still not owing him profits for villagers that aren't his. He plays himself at every turn.)
Mate, Doc doesn't want 'profit'. He has a tunnel bore and literally uses diamond ore as building block for his red stone machines. The whole thing was about stealing his villagers he putted time and effort just to avoid grinding yourself. Everything Doc did was about his pride more than anything else.
P.S: To be honest cuting the profit 50/50 would been bad for both parties. Pragmatically, Cleo were far more invested in this. The situation ended how it should.
@Joaquim1295 I know it's not about profit; I'm engaging with the "storyline" as it plays out. The Hermits are all having fun, and I like the low stakes drama of pranks and bureaucracy. Just a funny proposal in a UA-cam comment.
I'm all on board for a new prank war, don't get me wrong. Just explained why I don't believe he would bother she getting profits from her own villagers. What would escalate things is in realms of who is more petty about their own compliencies. My humble opinion, obviously. @@Van-dq4sw

Most successful improv revolves around the "yes and" idea, however Cleo cares not for content and operates a renegade "well no" concept
its both easier than folks claim but also you were lucky. what normally makes it hard is the fact that folks like to optimize the prices which takes forever cause most folk dont have access to the amount of emeralds you do. Im glad you found it as easy as it was because optimization can be bonkers. Also i love the salmon prank and docs retaliation was great because he didnt show it at all. good luck on gettin the calico to complete the set!
Wheat is one of those unsung blocks people will use if its provided. I.E Breeding, target blocks, and it makes a very nice decor.
You should double check those "diamonds" that had been renamed. Check them against crafting recipes that use sticks. There has been a joker around retexturing them.
I suggest you change the carved pumpkin to suspicious stew for the teas so that the hermits can really drink them and be surprised after 😅
Books will always be needed. I remember Keralis' Book Nook from a while ago, he was making diamonds the whole season. Cause at the end of the day, it is all too easy to lose your armor set and need to remake it all over again. Or, some people also just like to have extra sets lying around for things like death runs.
Minigames also often have disposable armour or tools.
I had not seen that bread trick before, I am definitely going to try it out next time one of my villagers goes wandering. :D
dealing with librarian villagers becomes much easier if you don't bother yourself too much, with manually cycling the starter trade. as they automatically cycle, if you haven't locked their trades.
like as soon as you set then up
1. check trades
2. if you don't like it leave it, to do something else
3. comeback to check it again
4. repeat
Of course, this more patient approach only applies if you're not in too big of a rush to get a specific enchanting book. but it helps streamline progress, as you're not just stuck in one spot trying to get the one trade you want.
if you need "alot" of emeralds fast and easy just get 2 fletching villagers (trades arrows)
turn them into zombies heal them and they trade like 4 sticks for 1 emerald (normally they trade 16-32 sticks per emerald)
You could put hoppers feeding into the chests at the top and just plop the shulker full of refill books onto the hopper.
I mean, there are double chests on top of the hoppers already, which is a decent amount more than just a shulker.
You check those renamed diamonds a little closer. I think they're re-textured sticks.
They aren't. Joe put them there in his episode. Xisuma's are different.
One of the ways i got started with villagers was an etho suggestion and using the masons to get tons of emeralds for stone, super easy and cheap once its one to one trading

About your tea textures, can you make them be made from some "drinkable" item, like a potion, or bucket of milk, or something?
So it is actually possible to drink the tea, coffee, chocolate... :D
Never knew that a cafe could be successful.
To help make cycling easier, just slap the block on a sticky piston and use a lever. Every time it moves they have to relink, and you can move multiple work blocks if you're trying to get multiple villagers at once. Its saved me tons of time and durability on my axes lol.
im pretty sure you can't move a lectern with a piston on java edition given thats the version they play on.

Getting the villagers from a village to a breeder, breeding them, then moving them to a third location to change their jobs, and then either zombifying them and healing them or getting a good source of emeralds... For most casual players, that's a lot of work to get the books they want. Not that it can't be done, of course, but it just takes a while. The actual getting the books you want as trades isn't really bad at all.
