The major trend I notice with these gowns from the decade is: Lots of ruffles, laces, chiffon. Styles and colours are most extravagant and shocking out of any decades. Experimental and fun! This was also the decade of shoulder pads, so we definitely saw a lot of gowns with elaborated shoulders and sleeves.
Also, almost none of these gowns touched the floor. It was actually a trend to have gowns only reach ankle length and above at the time.
