I just want to say, you bring such a chill laid back vibe on your videos that makes it feel like im talking to a friend or longtime teacher. Really enjoying all these videos youve been putting out the last couple months!
Wow, thank you! What a thoughtful comment. I'm sure you guys have enough formality in your life right now so I try to bring some collegiality and familiarity to the scene. Try to treat you guys with some respect you know? Thanks again and hope you're having a great week!
@@SuperdangerStudios Yeah man! Like your videos are structured so that theyre not over the place but you present them casually like if it was a conversation with someone. As an "advanced" beginner you give great tips on not just about playing but Tone and feel etc. Like that video you did on the 3rd position or the video about the most versatile guitar! Likewise hope your week is great!
Your videos convinced me to buy all of the York Audio Fender IRs and they’re all amazing! Keep up the awesome content, this is rapidly becoming my favorite channel.
@@SuperdangerStudios they’re awesome, especially with the Deluxe61, which sound amazing through the York Audio AC30 and AC15 IRs too… I’d recommend those!
Just picked up this IR and I’m enjoying the process creating that warm tone with it! It adds that extra warm fuzziness that I couldn’t get with my twin reverb IR. Ever so subtle but a game changer with the sound I desire!
Nice guitar tones! I have a couple early 70s Princeton Reverbs. Your combination sounds very Fendery. Hard to think anyone would complain with your tones here.
Great tone, Alex. The Iridium's 210 IR is one of its few stock ones I use. Is the York Audio version a big improvement? On the RevivalDrive, do you blend in some dry signal while playing into the Iridium's Round amp model? My RevivalDrive compact just arrived, and I am finding that blend control is magical. The layered tone it gives reminds me of playing with a two tube amp setup. These tone tools are terrific. But, strictly for tonal nuance and feel, I do still prefer a real great tube amp through nice cabs mic'ed up with good mics. But when you factor in portability, easy setup and sound pressure.level, the Iridium and Revival shine!
Thanks again, Slide! I agree the 2x10 they had was the only one I ended up using before the great purge haha. The York is a HUGE improvement. Whether its the 12" the Fender Twin, Bassman, or Vibrolux they all sound amazing. I don't typically use the blend mode bc I really like what it does to the attack of the transients but I will start to experiment with it. I am on the same page as you. I always just prefer a couple pedals and a couple great amps, but for my situation now, this is a good compromise! Cheers! Alex
Alex, I really dig your sound. Can you explain your signal chain properly so I undestand how you do it! Maybe make a video that explains it all? I have the Iridium, Deco and so on... But I cant get that edge of breakup with a home setup I have with my Super reverb. Help needed...;-) Also, your playing is spot on!
Thanks for the kind words! And yes I actually made a whole video about my signal chain here: ua-cam.com/video/SC5EAgWU1-0/v-deo.html&lc=UgwjNnxIJeeb9w32WPN4AaABAg Let me know if this helps or if I can help in a different way. Cheers!
Love the sound you are getting from your setup. I understand the value of this in the (home) studio, using an interface, DAW and plugins. What would a similar setup be for performing live in small venues? I am looking at buying a Fishman SA330X tower PA system, to play both acoustic/electric and some electric, as well as vocals. Would this be compatible? If so, how would it be set up--I assume the Fender Jr. is taking the place of the vibrolux as an amp/speaker. Could the Fishman do the same? What version of the Bias FX2 plugin did you use (e.g., Pro, standard?) to load to Logic and what would you use instead if going to a PA/monitor?
Hey Genny! Yes it looks like the fish man would be perfect, I would test your IRs or speaker emulations to see which one works best with your PA. Are the PA speakers powered? If so, you wouldn’t need any amp or power amp, just plug into a channel and eq from the board. I use Bias FX2 elite bc it has the IR loader. But for live you would be good to just load your Preferred IR into your Strymon and then straight into board. If the speakers are passive then you would need a power amp. Let me know if this helps and if I can answer any more questions!
When you get a new IR pack... how do you even begin choosing which one to use? I recently got a York Audio pack to try out, and I am so overwhelmed with how many there are to choose from. Any tips? Thanks for the great vids!!
Hi Daniel, I just use the preset mixes! The single mic mixes get me buried in the weeds and tbh I don’t have the aural acuity to understand which is best for what I’m going for. Hence the pre mixed selections. They all sound great but impart a diff eq obviously and bring out diff characters in the “amp” and guitar. Let me know if I can help further!
I actually have this IR on my Iridium but I haven't tried Mix 13...will definitely give this a go with my Tubescreamer and/or Wampler Tumnus once I get home!! Great video as always!
Thank you and congratulations for the incredible quality of your demonstration ! One question : If using the "Revival drive" coupled with the "Iridium" , I suppose i have to turn off the Amp Sim of the Iridium?
Not a dumb question at all my friend. I use Bias FX to load IRs on my Computer. Here is a video I did on it. This is how I get an FX loop with the Strymon Iridium & Bias FX 2 ua-cam.com/video/xlK4XmMejUE/v-deo.html
My 1969 high school band guitar amp was the Vibrolux- wish I still had it- playing a reissue now Your IR sound is definitely in the ballpark which is kinda difficult for me to say. We’ll done
@@SuperdangerStudios You have many interesting options to make video. First of all the comparison between Dream 65 vs Iridium + York Audio, but it would also be interesting to compare the Dream 65 stock cabinets vs Dream 65 + York Audio, maybe for another video.
Hi, great information, learning some cool tips from your channel! Are you loading the IRs in the iridium or are you loading them on a separate program?
Got a suggestion for videos - how do you install the York audio. Presumably on the Iridium? (Which I own but am using the stock sounds) Would also be good to understand how you are hearing your sound - is it iridium to monitor speakers? Again, would be a great video to show.
@@SuperdangerStudios Second this recommendation. Your tones in this video were fantastic! I would love to experiment with other IR's in my iridium, but was also curious about your set up. Obviously we are hearing the recorded tones from the iridium into the interface (apprecaite how you usually lay out your signal path) and it sounds excellent, but when you are just playing at home (not making a video) do you go straight out from your iridium/or end of your chain to monitors or are you going into interface then logic or whatever then monitors? Do you use an frfr or PA?
Superb tones! Wow this sounded fantastic. Really appreciate the idea-rather than GASsing for another amp, I can add an IR or two, mix some of my pedals, get some great tones and just play.
