That job would never get boring
No job is boring when you do what you love and enjoy
The best job on the entire Earth you got that right !
O
I KNOW RIGHT!!!!!!!!
That job would be boring within hours.
I've always thought 500 needed more power
your comment makes my laugh way harder than it should
Jajajaja
I.was looking for a big bore.kit for my 85 you can get a 590 bore kit
I know right. I used to own a KX500 and the last thing I thought was, "This thing could really do with some more power!" lol
you can actually get a 4 mil stroker and billet cases for Kx500 or Cr500 And it was well worth it now the bike really feels like it’s pulling away from me.
Awesome..... I restored a 2004 KX 500... It got a Bondi Engines ported and polished cylinder and head.... Full fmf exhaust.... Boyesen rad valve.... Crank is balanced to. Love to now how much power mine is putting out. Wish some one would come out with a modern 500cc 2 stroke, I am convinced they would sell them like hot cakes.
I used to have a KX 500 AF and a desert racing prepped kx 500. Both of them were incredible to ride. More manageable and more powerful than the CR 500. Wish I never got rid of those bikes....
I ride a CRF250R with a '97 KX500 motor in it. Super fun!
@@noidontthinksolol depends on what your doing! Those cr's turn better but get a bad head shake at speed compared to the kawi. That's why they were better in desert racing and Baja type racing. The steering head and fork angle are big differences and the powervalve being another biggy...from Wyoming USA 🔫🤠🇺🇸p.s stay safe

Had a '91 KX500, loved that bike, great for hill climbing in SoCal - Lambs Canyon, Ritchie Canyon, Dumont.
Spring 1994, My brand new 94 factory KHI Kx250 made 54HP and could overrev between gears to 8400rpms after Don Emler tickled it .The 94 Factory 500s that Jeff rode were about 75HP and Rpm lined around 8000 usable. I was also fortunate enough to run some of Don Emlers first fat pipes in 94 for the new KX stump pulling dragster engines. And the early moose heavy plate/carbon clutch packs. Early 94 season, only Hoffmasters pingmaster 93 RM 250 could hang with it out of the gate. Ahh the smell of melting 16 to 1 Compression pistons and illegal eye stinging methanol, mixed with the sweet smell of Motul oil dribbling from the silencer. priceless! Hi VHM I love your all brick dyno room, nice and cool, and controllable. Cheers Dale Walker / Holeshot Performance
Wow, that graph was made with the windows 95 paint program. Judging by the 13 pixels, I'd have to say that was at most 6.13 horsepower gain. Given the pixel size
huh? It shows 1.5hp gain.
center is center
its more like 1.5 hp gain

Nice looking head. Manufacturing expert here.
I still have a KX 500 today! It'stoo much bike for the woods where I live, but a flywheel weight tamed her a bit!
I like the compression release....
Glad it has a street tire 👍👍

The soundtrack of life.
Seems like alot of money and work for one extra hp!
Stator cover was off in the beginning of the video. Did you adjust timing as well as head swap?
To keep it peaking higher into rpms do power valve stopper bolt mod to keep power valve cams from over opening at high ram. Boysen rad valve with moose spacer to get more internal cc of intake charge . Light wight clutch pack and basket for dipping out power.dont worry piston is heavy enough to keep it from stalling when lugging. A 39 pwk carb. And at least a 15-43 gearing with a 18 rear wheel 120/10018 tire and that bike will rocket to 100 mph.
So basically, all you have to do is find a 30 year old bike. Do a complete engine and frame restoration. Suspension and wheels. Get additional go fast parts such as a pipe and cylinder head. Maybe a Lectron carb.
And when all is said and done, you end up with an out-dated, old looking, poorly suspended bike that has the same amount of horsepower as a regular 450?
Oh yeah, and a powerband that is half as wide. And all of it will take 6 months and cost $20.000.
Sign me up!
Apparently you never watched the. Sean collier video of him on his "30 year old outdated" kx500 severely putting a crushing on modern 450s in a actual motocross race?
@@coloradodirtbike5930 I remember seeing that a few years ago, but Sean Collier would have won that race if he had been on a KX450 too, right?
@@danielkarlsson608 he smoked the other riders, they were not even close. And those were pro riders, not amateurs.
Point being, his old steel frame, out dated looks and suspension smoked the competition (pro riders) where they weren't even near him the whole race he was so far ahead. You can't claim its strictly due to the rider. Your idea of out dated suspension and everything else goes out the window, considering he rode a 30 plus year old technology bike and completely destroyed the competition.
I weep for humanity.. Watch a video of a tire spinning a dyno, and then come to comments to ask if it's crank or wheel horsepower. WTF?
Hahaha you stoopid my guy. Actually you can messure the engine HP by the wheel
Exactly my thoughts
It actually is crank horsepower. If you look in the comments you will find that. Its probably a calculation from the reading of the dyno wich messures at the wheel.
@@ebruneskogh No it’s not crank horsepower. You use an engine dyno to measure engine horsepower with no drivetrain loss. You use a chassis dyno to measure wheel horsepower then you can see how much power actually gets to the ground once it flows through the drivetrain.
@@willparker3170 if you actualy read what the guys running the dyno says you would see that the figures they present is 57 CRANK horsepower. I know how it works, and they are messuring at the rear wheel. But the number is probably even lower than 57 if you just take the raw number from messuring on the wheel.
Terrible picture of the HP and Torque readings. Why watch the video if you can't even see the results ?
Do cr500 comparison and put lb torque and bhp for both bikes as cant see this clearly
Settings and adjust the video, it plays at 240p. If you go to 720 or more you can read the graph
I always told kx500 more powerful due to the powevalve making it more than a tuned cr500, but i hear some say the kx500 power drops off right on top a little where the cr500 don't, love both but always liked green better than red but recently bought 2000 cr250 as honda go up in value better than any other bike, want 500 some point to road register like my cr250
OMG 1 HP
How much HP in that one I couldn't read the graph
Im on my phone, i cant see the graph! WAH!!!! What was the hp and torque?
Thought he was gonna go all John McLain on our asses, and launch that thing into a helicopter!!! “I ran outta bullets”😳
I miss my KX 500. I bought it brand new. Had it for 3 years before some bastard ass piece of shit stole it. That was all the way back in 2007.
Is it bad to engine break a 2 stroke?
That's a solid 10HP more than the KX450
Has this guy ever even ridden a 2- stroke?
His mom will freak when she sees what he done to the basement

Hi vhm team .
What do you have for squish ?
And what do you use for insert into your head ?
Please .
Thanks à lot
Hi! Squish 2.00mm. We have various inserts with different volumes available, depending on the cylinder head gasket on the engine. More info can be found at www.vhm.nl/AA33193. And here's a quick overview of all inserts for the KX500 head: www.vhm.nl/en/catalog/engine-parts/cylinder-parts/vhm-head-inserts/kawasaki/kx500/properties/g+c+a+ma+mo+view
What did it make in the end, I haven't got my specs on
62.6hp
@@bam835 fantastic thanks
I always wonder why dyno technicians always chop the throttle early along with deceleration throttle pulses, your not hurting anything doing a dyno run, let it rip until she stops risng in pitch. I want to see/hear it fumble at high rpm, that is an engine characteristic that is telling us about the engine/fueling/exhaust setup.
When I'm ripping 5th or 6th gear in a race I'm not letting off because of engine damage popping off the top rpms. Less throttle is less speed, I'm holding it until I have to.
Soo siiiiiccck ❤️😎
so I love dyno tests and anything to do with the legend KX500 but I would of liked a little more details on this head. So it has a Decomp valve ok I had one installed on mine reasonably priced. I assume the doom is machined and squish altered. I also see next to the test specs for run 1 and 2 a difference of 0.049 as opposed to 0.045. Also I see air temp difference of 19.8 °C as opposed to 18.5 °C. I don't know why that is cause the test says they are using the same air flow rate so why is temp different. It stands to reason that if that test run was running cooler it should make more power. I don't know just playing devils advocate but I feel I could get my stock head machined to maximize gains in this range and Cerokote it to look just as pretty. any thoughts????
Yea I agree! Its not like it's a four stroke head with high flow port job and valve job. All they really do is change combustion chamber size and maybe a slight design change for quench area and flame travel. It does not seem it would gain you enough to justify purchasing the head.
FN that seat write-up hey😭
Stupid question: why does an offroad 500 produce a third of the power an NSR 500 used in MotoGP would have produced? Is it tuning related, or is there a bigger difference in the engines?
4 cylinder vs 1 cylinder

Bla bla bla fish paste. Was waiting for this loud burst of a 2stroke demon sound. Guy was just fidgeting around with something by the handlebars. What an eskimo pie.
Can you dyno atv's? ( suzuki lt 500?)
Is that at the wheel or crank? Pretty impressive either way. I just watched a video of 700cc 2-stroke only producing 50 hp.
It's wheel. That type of dyno is reading the power from the rear wheel. The rear wheel spins the barrel on the machine.
Engine dyno testing typically would have the engine connected alone to a dyno machine.
@@billybadass9031 I never thought anybody could ask such a question myself. I guess they don't understand that a "crank dyno", (of which I own), means it is measured directly from the crank shaft, and not through the drive train of the vehicle by it's own wheel. I thought the words defined it, (Wheel?, Crank?, where the machine is hooked up.)---but I guess not today. Words don't mean anything to too many people. That is terrible for conversation. It makes conversation unintelligible.
@@EarthSurferUSA One doesn't know until they learn. You once didn't know either.
It can tune more...for 500cc it can get 80hp+++
Never seen that before, mama do you have a link anywhere on the Internet where 1 made 80 horsepower at the wheel?
Theres not 1 500 that gets 80hp to the rear wheel from just tuning if so post the link down below , modded kx500s get like 61hp to the rear wheel and stock cr500s make like 52-55 hp with a shit ton of torque tho at a narrow rpm range check out KAPLAIN AMERICAS youtube channel for proof if you think im lying
