    My lovely Vizsla Chester died young because of Vets annual checkup and Boosters. His last visit he got a clean bill of health and literally Four ! Days later, the poor boy was riddled with Cancer.😡 The following day, sat on the Pavement across the road from the Vets. I spelled out for my buddy the likely terrible time he was in for, but if he wanted to try and fight it, I’d be with him all the way. There followed a period with Chester looking at me and the Vets, and finally he stood up and pointed to the Vets, and I stayed with him as he was put down. He was only Six Years Old. ☹️ However his Buddy Pepper, a Spaniel, Never went to the Vets again.now all my friends Spaniels have been dead by Twelve Years Old. Pepper was a Rescue Dog, so accurate aging isn’t possible. So when Pepper was at least Fourteen years old, Her weekly Treats changed completely. She had two packets of sweets a week, and two packets of chocolate Biscuits. She drooled whenever I had Wine Gums and Chocolate Biscuits prior, and was delighted to have Hers as well. She Continued to be Very Fit, Healthy , and Happy, until the last few months of her life, and her decline was such, that she was able to die of natural causes in my arms. Pepper was At Least Twenty Three years old. If you an get Hank to live that long, it will cause problems going to foreign places obviously. But if he’s like my Chester, every single day will be well worth it. May Hank Live longer than even my Pepper. Bob.❤ Vizslas are so Special and losing one is so traumatic and heartbreaking, I daren’t risk having another one, but every time I see Hank in your videos, I break out in a Huge Grin. Best Wishes.👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇬🇧⛵️🌟🌟🌟🍻

    Its good to see so much of my home "turf" in this vid, I live in Paignton and sail out of the Dart. I am interested in your diet re obtaining fresh vegetables and roughage for the digestive system and in particular storage as freezers are very energy hungry.

    Good call on staying in the UK. I trust you intend to return to Scotland. If so I hope the weather behaves itself (episode 10). Please take your time there are so many anchorages for you to explore and share. So many channels visit and miss so much. For example, you could take a month to do a lap of Skye and still only scratch the surface although my idea would be to spend two or more days in each anchorage to soak up the atmosphere particularly if you're moored or anchored next to a distillery.

      My ancestors come from Scotland and Ireland and I’ve recently learned so much about them through ancestry.com via a long lost cousin who’s a gene geek and done an insane amount of homework on our family tree.
      I want to spend more time learning about their culture, the culture of my recent ancestors, as it’s been completely forgotten about by my immediate relatives and that’s a shame.

      Yes that’s certainly on the list this winter too. There is actually a sailing channel called ‘Sailing Brutally’ who did a really good video on it who often gave me the bravery to tackle jobs I otherwise wouldn’t have known how to do.

    Now let me say a few things before you run off and buy one. Firstly I have nothing to compare it to other than free-diving. I've never scuba dived before in my life and I've never used another hookah before. I did do a lot of due diligence when it comes to understanding the dangers of breathing compressed air under the water. In short, these things are dangerous and not to be taken lightly. If you think this is something you'd be interested in then please do speak to a diving expert (I've had the good fortune to learn from several, in terms of theory, as well as my own continued reading).
    We really enjoy this electronic hookah as it's small, lightweight and seemed (to us) perfect for the little space we had on the boat, where dive tanks and a compressor just wouldn't fit, as well as add a lot of additional weight.
    If you use the above link and you do buy one too then we will get a small kick back which will go towards Hanks treat jar, it's the same price regardless of if you go to the company directly, but I know some people feel a certain kind of way about us getting any kind of kick backs, so if that's you then just google 'air buddy dive system' and go to the site directly, again the price is the same regardless, but I'd like you to feel good about how you got there, so, there you have it.
    What else can I say? We bought the system directly from the company in Australia. We bought it ourselves and paid full price for it. We saw a 'distributer' in the UK, but they wanted close to double the price and had similar wait times to simply ordering direct from Australia, so that's why we went direct and just paid some import taxes, which still worked out much cheaper than the UK distributer. The team at Air Buddy have also been amazing on the other end of my emails and questions, for us it's been a very positive after sales service.
    Again I've never tried any other products so I am in no way qualified to give any advice other than say that we use this most days and have been enjoying it, we've used it to check on the anchor, clean under the boat mid-season, explore some amazing reefs and do a spot of foraging too. We get close to an hour under the water on my own or about 50 minutes when Carly is attached to it too.
    I hope that's answered most of the questions which have come my way but if you have any more then again please do just ask and I'll do my best to answer them from my own anecdotal experience.

    I hear you on the boat shows. I just came back from the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival and came back depressed (don't have the time, the money nor the environment (I'm mostly on freshwater) for wooden, but they ARE gorgeous). Thanks for the Q&A!
    Do you use crab pots at all? If not, why? I know they're EVIL when sailing or trying to get into port but on the flip side they're dead easy to set up and you don't have to get into diving gear. :)

    • @CadohaAdventures
      @CadohaAdventures  Рік тому +3

      I’ve had five crab pots over the years and by now every single one of them has been stolen.
      Seems the local fisherman don’t like people encroaching on their turf, so I just dive down and catch ten times as many by hand as I used to with pots. So I guess the people who thought they were stopping me have actually led to a 1000% increase in my productivity. They should pat themselves on the back 😬🦞🦞🦞🦞🦞

    Have you considered harvesting a decent sized ballan wrasse? They eat them here in Spain, and I find it fascinating what some cultures consider food and others consider trash

    • @CadohaAdventures
      @CadohaAdventures  Рік тому

      We did once a couple of years back and when we cooked it the meat was really mushy. The flavour was ok but the texture just didn’t seem right.
      I mean if I was in a survival scenario I’d eat them, they’re not hard to find and they’re not even remotely scared of you, so they’re very easy to hunt, but generally speaking no I wouldn’t bother.
      I don’t consider them trash, I think they’re one of the most beautiful fish we have along our coastline. I feel the same about conger eels too, I see so many of them pop their heads out when I hunt lobsters and there’s something quite endearing about them. They’re bright blue when you shine a torch on them and for some reason I really like them and have no desire to hunt them. Lots of people say they’re delicious but no part of me wants to harm them. I can’t explain it, I just find them fascinating to watch.

    • @The_Dark_Shark
      @The_Dark_Shark Рік тому

      @@CadohaAdventures I totally get it! Why kill an amazing creature if you’re not going to really enjoy eating it. I’ve struggled pulling the trigger after making eye contact with a fish and it’s moved towards you in a gesture of trust.
      I’ve eaten a few dogfish and their texture could be described as mushy, but turning them into fishfingers with some breadcrumbs and they’re instantly more edible. I guess it’s knowing the best way to prepare any food - and there’s not much info on cooking Ballan wrasse 😊

      Well it’s nice to be of some use to others. For the most part that’s what’s really struck me about the boating community, yes you get a few bahumbug miserable old gits here and there but mostly it’s a community of people all helping one another and asking for little or nothing in return. From the RNLI (lost boat volunteers) to an old salt in the marina happy to help with some engine work you’re stuck with, there’s always help around the corner it seems and so it’s compelled us to try and be more useful where we can too 🙏🏼⛵️
