Thank you Professors. I love the Ezekiel strangle. I had been doing it wrong for the past few years.... Pushing instead of pulling. I see the light now.
🤯 I would love it if John Danaher made a street self defense video with the top 10 most important techniques to survive a street attack. Learning the techniques and why he chose them would make a great video.
Don't need him to show you anything, anyone on the street gets close to you stick your fingers as far as you can into their eyes and at this point just run or finish them cuz they can't even see. If you get their back don't bother with chokes just punch them in the back of the head.
Oh god, you can just tell when John is going into 'murderer's robe' mode. Nobody can stop him at that point. Plus he has some of the best teaching methods in the biz. Amazing stuff, as always.
Thank you Thank you Thank you!!! This is the kind of information I am looking for when trying to learn about jujitsu an in depth explanation of what is going on. not this is "how you do this move" I want to know why things are done the way they are. this is the best Information online about jujitsu.
I knew that ezekiel and the bow'n'arrow would be among them thanks to their success. There were still so many sweet details in the video that I'm sure everyone learned a lot. A great coach, also loved his interview with London Real
😂😂😂OMG, my wife just cracked me up, had to share.. She knows nothing about BJJ so she walks in right about 6:00 where John is talking about ..”naked body,” and then at 6:11 when he starts taking off his jacket; she goes with this shock look, “WTH, is he about to get naked?”
You should really play with a gi sometimes. Not because it is "true bjj", but because it adds so much it is like learning another game, and the same goes for those that never roll no gi.
3 Eziekel - "you don't need to have the classical two hooks in" sounds like Mr. Danaher mentions of Royce's finish on Shamrock. One of the main reasons Royce, Takimoto, and Yoshida wore Gi when they debuted in MMA was to enable them to apply this submission, I suppose. 26:12 Danaher starts to answer some of the most fundamental and important questions regarding grappling that are must-know for anyone before learning anything on the mat in most concise ways. I wish I had someone like him to guide me thru the sport in the beginning, but I also know from history of judo that elitist competitors are the ones with 2 digit IQ who train without thoughts and still kick everyone's ass.
4:50 but pretty much any Bernardo Faria video with John Danaher. Look at how focused Bernardo is on what John is saying. He's a world champ and seems he's still keen to learn new things from John about his beloved sport. The willingness to keep learning makes us better and Bernardo knows this.
choke = internal block of the airway strangle = external block of the airway/blood flow 3 high percentage gi stangleholds 1) Sliding lapel strangle (okuri eri jime) 2) Cross collar strangle (juji jime) 3) Ezekial strangle (sode guruma jime) For self defence, strangle vs joint locks - With joint locks, it's break or nothing - With strangleholds, there are levels of severity: control --> quickly unconscious --> completely incapacitated --> death
This was great! Ill be watching this a few times over so ill be able to apply them in my BJJ class. But he didnt show the Ezekiel choke from the front ( as ge said he would) just the back. I look forward to the next video! Thanks
From the mount a good way to employ the Ezekiel is to employ head control - with your hand behind his head, cradling it - from here you can bring your opposite forearm across the opponents neck and grip the cradling hand's bicep. This choke variation works as you try use the cradling hand to grip the opposite elbow, flexing your forearm against your opponents windpipe. This also works in No Gi, and is one of my favourite chokes. You can however just use the exact same grip John uses to employ a strangle. Just reach across to your opposite sleeve, and bring the hand behind your opponent's head. Then reach around to grab the opposite arm. Best part about both Ezekiels is that if you opponent pushes away it helps increase your pressure. Hope that helps!
John Danahar is one of the few people in the world that I am genuinely afraid of… Like, “Oh.. John… You say you live in my house and my wife and kids are yours now? Okay. I’ll start packing my things. Bye honey. Bye kids.” 😂😂😂 Jokes aside, he is one of the best masters and teachers on the planet every. ❤️
Amazing as Always. But there is a small observation regarding street fights and law. In several countries in Europe, as well Portugal, you can be charged for trying to kill someone due to a stranglehold, but if you just break an arm or something in a joint lock... it's less problematic regarding charges, you can give a lot of excuses and argue in court. This was a specific point debated in the mandatory professional course to be a legal Jiu-Jitsu teacher in Portugal. If thought it could be useful to leave this point of view here.
I suppose Judo have been around for almost 50 years longer than BJJ in Europe, and these three techniques come from Judo. Why would it all of a sudden be an issue with teachers now?
I am not out to kill anybody here… Unless they would be trying to kill me. I don’t know that I can live with myself if I did actually kill somebody, even in self-defense. Thank you for the video, and I will continue watching when I can.
Just started Bjj last week. Gi BJJ is more savage with all these strangle holds bc the gi is like a rope. Nogi is awesome but haven’t tried yet. Probably more mma based bc not wearing a gi
@John Danaher: the Ezekiel from the back seems to only cut off the artery on one side, is that true? Or does the pulling hand pull so hard that it cuts through all the other way to the other side?
Anybody who really knows Brazilian jiu-jitsu should know that you don’t need to cut both carotid Arteries ...one is more than enough .... and these are techniques we learn as zero stripe white belts ... but Gordon’s fans thinks they know everything.......
Soft skin between life and death. Thank you for sharing, and although I was a little freaked out, it’s OK. I just hope you never actually have to use those, but if you do… And they greatly succeed… How do you feel in your soul?
I'm so glad we got the universe where John is a legendary teacher instead of a serial killer.
Lmaooooo that’s a fact!
😂😂 … and with that thought … there is a universe 😢😨😂😂
The two are not mutually exclusive
@@aomacd7 Truest of words.
😂😂😂
"Nice gi John!"
John: "This is not a gi. It's a force multiplier."
This deserves more likes

Thank u very much 4 your efforts. Very useful work.
Very helpful, thanx !!
You missed the 'huge honor for me' time stamp
?what I am cunfus?
?
Danaher is a superb teacher.
He could learn to use his voice a bit better.
That is is vast understatement. And I totally agree. Lol
Bernardo, you deserve an award for bringing so much great teaching, from so many masters, to the BJJ community. Thank you so much!
Huge honor for me to watch this video when it was uploaded 27 seconds ago!
3 minutes of chokes: 31 minutes of physiology, anatomy, theory, and concept.
😂
John's elegant and ridiculously deep way of talking about strangulations and bjj in general makes him so terrifying
Love the "murderous rope" !
Just watched to hear Bernardo say ' Huge Honour for Meeee!!'
... Joke, obviously listened to all of Danaher's wisdom
Ryan is lucky to have this guy as a mentor. Hes a born teacher.
Dang, that look on Bernardo’s face at 22:41...taking one for the team. Thanks Bernardo!
I learned so much... from anatomy and physiology, to the structure of the gi. Such a well explained seminar. Thank you both. 🙏
"It will turn a good strangling situation into a GREAT one." Richard Ramirez vibes.
Love how this master teaches the science of the art...true teacher
Thank you Professors. I love the Ezekiel strangle. I had been doing it wrong for the past few years.... Pushing instead of pulling. I see the light now.
Such an eloquent speaker for the art. You two are treasures for bjj. Thanks for making it free for everyone to watch
John looked so natural strangling with his belt...I’ve long assumed he is a contract killer 😂
😂
Legend has it they based agent 47s design on him
John is such a great teacher... 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
He’s a total yoda- great seminar
Such a way with words, JD.

I don't do GI but I clicked this regardless just because its John Danaher.
You should really play with a gi sometimes. Not because it is "true bjj", but because it adds so much it is like learning another game, and the same goes for those that never roll no gi.
I do no gi too, left gi 2 years ago. No gi allows for more wrestling
@@andresviveros3994 Yea same here.
I enjoy both. But I always enjoy JD. Guy could explan how to make a cup of tea and I'd watch it, Even if it was 45 mins

Love your guys videos and love bernardos patience while being in the tough spot
Master class. Thank you so much, Coaches. 100%. The other, fancy chokes are neat and fun, of course, but “further and faster!” Ossss!
Thank you gentleman, so well explained.Peace
When John said cloth... It made this seminar a religious experience 🤩haha
Thanks a lot. He sounds like a killer gentleman.
A very fine instrument of strangulation indeed
Excellent video
"In incomparable versatility in severity of application."
i liked this guys because we got te same hair style
Parabéns pelo vídeo! Equivalente a meses de aulas.
Great explanation !!!
Once again, John, you are done yourself
"I'm only going to watch a few minutes of this right now..."
I just looked and I'm 31 minutes in lol.
Amazing teaching!
Isn't Baseball choke a high percentage as well?
I love bernardos tapping face

26:13 Wu-Tang Clan was decades ahead of Danaher on this one.
Look how attentively Bernardo listens to everything John has to say.

Thanks again!!!
John Danaher. Nicest, yet scariest person ever 😂
Can I please get the exact link to the videos where this material is covered?
The anatomy descriptions are terrifying
Wow! Is there a release date set for this upcoming instructional?
Legend says that when John turns around, he has a barcode on the back of his head

Naked Strangles is a sweet band name
Sounds like the next big adult film 🎥
This is awesome
Thank you both...🇶🇦🇮🇳🇨🇦😎🙏✌️🙏how about a lock on someone's jaw.
And that last one, does it matter which hand you use for pushing and pulling? I’m thinking your dominant hand could probably do the pulling, correct?
white belt here. is there any system for game plan recommendation so when can easily found ourselves using these chokes/strangles?
@John Danaher: the Ezekiel from the back seems to only cut off the artery on one side, is that true? Or does the pulling hand pull so hard that it cuts through all the other way to the other side?

master Yoda of Bjj
I think is where 12:27 Bernardo starts to realise that Professor Danaher may be slightly Murderous.. But hey the man sells tapes gotta love him :)
At 17:22 is that bow and arrow choke
Which instructional is this from?
For the sliding collar choke. Its a pinch grip ?
Is this video out currently? I’m having trouble finding it on BJJ fanatics.
I can’t believe this is free!
can buy this in a dvd?
Mr.Faria, can you please be my uncle? Uncle Faria! Huge Honor for me!! Oss..
Damn. Looks like I have another video to buy.....
John look so scarily excited to begin talking about strangling people lololol
Who is Hugh Jonor?
Strangle vs Choke? In 1906, the book "The Game of Ju-jitsu" called these "neck-locks"!
Soft skin between life and death. Thank you for sharing, and although I was a little freaked out, it’s OK. I just hope you never actually have to use those, but if you do… And they greatly succeed… How do you feel in your soul?
what are the 3 most important chokes for nogi ?
We call them strangles in Catch also.
